I just read this from FB:

Ohio Competition - Best crew AHS; top male soloist, Colton Smith. Whole Competition; People's choice AHS, Albertville CenterStage is 1st runner up going into Finals.

Sorry it's only Albertville results but I guess it's better than nothing? STEP IT UP PEOPLE AT THIS COMPETITION

As in, SCC members who should post. Not groups. I'm sure you all did great <- see that smileyface

EDIT: I just realized. This is the last Ohio competition yet I predicted no Ohio groups making finals.
Haha yeah, well only 4 out of the 17 show choirs are from Ohio. If an Ohio show choir does make finals, my bet would be Garfield Heights "Music Express" beating out a girls group or Southwestern.

edit: Garfield Heights has made finals at Music & More for the past 5 seasons starting in 2008. Just an interesting streak, we will see if it continues!

First of all, I don't understand why you're saying that I can't base a show off of YouTube when I'm pretty sure you haven't seen Carmel live either. Unless you drove up to Fairfield or Lafayette. lol. The depth of groups Carmel beat vs. Albertville's opponents are just a bit deeper and that's why I'm making the predictions that I am. Carmel has beaten Indiana powerhouses such as Zionsville, Franklin Central, and Center Grove. As well as Ohio powerhouses like Marysville, and Loveland. Albertville has beaten Auburn, Enterprise, and Oak Grove. The difficulty of Carmel's schedule has just been a bit harder than Albertville's. I'm not saying Albertville is bad by any means though. I'm just trying to explain the predictions I'm making. But best of luck to all of the groups today! Wapak will be the final competition in Ohio, closing the show choir season in Ohio. Break a leg!

Predictions:
GC: Carmel
1RU: Albertville
2RU: Edgewood
3RU: Carmel Girls
4RU: Edgewood Girls
5RU: Southwestern

BV: Carmel
BC: Carmel / Albertville
BB: Albertville

EDIT: I just realized. This is the last Ohio competition yet I predicted no Ohio groups making finals.

cant judge a show off youtube..

This has already been discussed in this thread. And you're right, you can't judge a show based off YouTube, but if you want to make predictions and YouTube is all you have, then YouTube and results from the season are all you can go off of. Could he be wrong? Maybe. But that's why we make predictions- there's no way to know for sure, but we can make educated guesses based off of the information we have. Rather than getting defensive, I think this should give Albertville all the more reason to prove him wrong. I hope Albertville does well; I've always really enjoyed your shows in the past. But lets remember what these forums are here for- to discuss. To make educated guesses, and to get it wrong and be surprised when a group does better than anyone thought they would. That's what's fun about guessing, I think. No one means to offend anyone, and I'm sure Patrick is only using what he knows to take a stab at predictions. If you think his are wrong, you're certainly entitled that, but maybe you should make your own predictions, and from there only the judges can say which groups deserve to go home with the trophies.

Fun fact from earlier in this competition season, Wapak "Singsation" competed against an Alabama show choir, the Auburn "Varsity Singers" in February at Grove City. Now they will hopefully get to make a bunch of new friends from Albertville! Wish I could be there!

Also you can follow @WapakChoirs on Twitter for some information. It looks like the students have been hard at work painting signs and decorating Wapak High! http://i47.tinypic.com/14siqtv.jpg

Do you know how much tickets are?
No, I don't, sorry. I know that last year tickets were $15 combined for prelims/finals and $10 for just prelims or just finals. Not sure if it's the same this year, though, apologies.

That is all true. I wasn't discussing those previous competitions in terms of being early competitions, tough competitions, or fire extinguished competitions... . I was just providing context since you brought up Albertville's history of competing in the Midwest.

It should be an excellent weekend. The audience will for sure be in for a treat with Albertville unique style. Hopefully it will be warmly embraced. I also look forward to hearing the Albertville folks thoughts/opinions/experiences at Music & More and in Wapak, OH! I'm currently in Arizona and haven't been to my school's host competition in a few years. I know Wapak has a new Performing Arts Center that opened a couple years ago. So I look forward to hearing thoughts (good and bad).

Do you know how much tickets are?

This competition will all depend on whether or not the judges are more choreo or vocal heavy! If they are choreo, second will be Albertville. If they are vocal, Edgewood will get second. In any instance, Carmel will win.

3 of the 5 of those competitions were the first comp of the year for Albertville (piqua) and every group there had competed previously once and in some instances twice that year so that plays a role in it I believe.

I will just say this, Albertville usually does pretty well....very well actually, up north.
Just taking a quick look at the past several years:
2008: 2nd Place at Piqua
2009: 5th Place at Piqua
2010: No Placement at Wheaton
2011: 4th Place at Piqua
2012: 2nd Place at Twinsburg
So far the few predictions that have been posted all have Albertville within the top 3. And taking a look at Albertville's history as well as the current line-up at Music & More, I think all of that is reasonable and justified. Just adding some context.

3 of the 5 of those competitions were the first comp of the year for Albertville (piqua) and every group there had competed previously once and in some instances twice that year so that plays a role in it I believe. Also did you see the lineup for Wheaton that year? Absolutely crazy. I respect the fact of not placing because there was some groups who normally win GC or compete very closely for it week in and week out that did not place. As for Twinsburg, Albertville was second going into finals by the smallest margin and finals were cancelled due to a fire sprinkler thing-a-migger going off causing a huge mess that from what I was told had to be cleaned by a Hazmat team. So sure there are groups that compete well first competition right out the gate, and there are times when you don't place as well as you would like to do because of mishaps and accidents. Groups vary from year to year, week to week, show to show. Anything can happen. That is the beauty of what we do like I said earlier. So yeah, predictions are fun to make I guess, I don't usually make them, but I don't have a problem with people who do. No matter what the case I may be I am looking forward to coming up north for a few days and maybe even making some new friends or something lol.

Predictions (I'm assuming they do finals?)
(are single gender groups eligible?)
Yep! There will be six finalists and in years past single-gender groups have been eligible for Finals and have made finals so I would assume that still holds true unless there was a rule change.

**I'm from the south. Don't judge me if these are bad :/
Haha they aren't bad! Although I would be surprised to see Ada make finals. I would probably switch Ada for Noblesville or Garfield Heights. But all in all, not bad.

This is the best Albertville Centerstage has ever sang. Ever. Petal results might say different but Mississippi Competitions.... I'll just leave it at that and nothing else will be said.

Heyyy Mississippi competitions are great! Petal puts on a quality competition with well-qualified judges. :D

Predictions (I'm assuming they do finals?):
GC: Carmel (sweep)--They've had a perfect season so far.
1ru: Edgewood--Won a GC against several good groups. Had more competitions to improve.
2rd: Albertville--Quality southern group with a GC.
3ru: Espirit
4ru: Ada
5ru: Carmel girls (are single gender groups eligible?)

It's soooo hard to choose a spot for a southern group because it's a completely different selection of groups. I could see Albertville beating out Edgewood. Plus they are the only group I've seen live this year

**I'm from the south. Don't judge me if these are bad :/

SOOOO excited to see how this turns out. I competed against Carmel in 2010 at Wheaton. Personally, I thought their show was outrageously silly but silly numbers have grown on me since. (Kennedy whooped us with a silly show choir song and it was GREAT)

Some notes that come to mind. Fairfield is very theatrical. I saw the "Around the World in 80 Days" show last year at Nationals and it blew me away. I could see their director favoring theatrical shows at this competition.

This is the best Albertville Centerstage has ever sang. Ever. Petal results might say different but Mississippi Competitions.... I'll just leave it at that and nothing else will be said.

I understand why VDrum up there is talking about CenterStage success. jJudges in the midwest tend to be a tad more liberal and accepting of non-traditional shows. Last year against unbeaten Solon, we got everything except Vocals which included Judges Choice award where they through away points and chose their favorite show. Unfortunately finals never happened (don't get me started).... but if they had, results would have been based on ranking instead of points. I think he was referring to the general acceptance of Albertville's shows as opposed to the South... Mississippi.

If I had to predict, I would have probably have it
1)Carmel
2)Albertville
3)Edgewood

If Albertville brings the wow factor and gets the audience favorite like they usually do, I could see them pulling an upset but the choreography in the middle part of the show HAS to get better.

NOTE*
Whoever wins vocals will win... That is my only concrete prediction.

All in all, the audience is in for a GREAT competition and I'm excited to see how this one goes down. Northern competitions were always the best and always provided the best atmosphere. I hope CenterStage makes friends with Carmel and Edgewood more than I am rooting for them to win. My friends from Solon mean more to me than the Twinsburg results last year.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL

I personally am a fan of taking predictions, and totally destroying them (in a friendly way).
Predictions help generate discussion, so I am usually a fan of them so long as they are phrased in a respectful manner. But I get what you mean, sometimes predictions and the whole up/down voting can get a little old.

I am curious as to how things will shape up in a few weeks. But one thing I do know is this year, more then ever, has been full of surprises and upsets and all kinds of crazy things. Anything can happen week in and week out. That's the beauty of this whole thing we call show choir.

Patrick can only base his predictions off of what he knows. As he respectfully mentioned, he saw Carmel live at the Fairfield Crystal Classic and saw Albertville via YouTube. Everyone knows you cannot judge based off of YouTube. The Carmel "Ambassadors" are one of the most prestigious and historic show choirs in the nation. I don't think his prediction that Carmel will "take it" is at all unreasonable, after all they are just his opinions which you, yourself, agreed that Carmel could win Best Vocals. It's also not like Albertville is undefeated on the season in regard to Best Vocals. It's also, understandably, totally reasonable that the Albertville/Southern folks on here are expecting Albertville to do well. Most of them probably aren't too familiar with Carmel and others as Patrick or some others might be. So, you know, it goes both ways.

I know very well of carmel, I have competed against them unlike anyone in Albertville CenterStage! now. They are a great choir. I am just basing my predictions mainly from the judges. And I am correct one judge is the director of Solon, and one is the director of Fairfeild? i may be wrong, just what I was told
