As I'm sadly stuck in the desert unable to attend, I decided to partake in a favorite SCC-pastime ... YouTubing show choirs in the middle of the night. And I just have to say, I really hope Ankeny has an excellent performance. Everytime I watch "Visual Adrenaline" 2013, I enjoy the show more and more. From a jaw-dropping Titanium opener, to back-to-back Jessie J songs that are really cool, including a great ballad, to Beyonce's Sweet Dreams, AC/DC's Back In Black, and closing with Marry The Night by Lady Gaga. I love the song selections and the theme is implicitly wonderful.
This Des Moines Register article is also very sweet. For anyone unaware, the nationally-known and historic "Visual Adrenaline" name will be retired after this performance due to Ankeny splitting into 2 separate high schools. My favorite part of the article is, "We’re making a statement to the country — ‘This is who we are, and this is who we’ve been,'"
Although I wholeheartedly love Fairfield and Powerhouse this year, Ankeny does classic show choir like no other. And I hope they wrap up the illustrious "Visual Adrenaline" legacy with a great placement. Best of luck to Ankeny and all other competing show choirs.
Anyone know the Aspire Award winners yet?
I believe the winners for the FAME 2013 ASPIRE Awards will be announced tomorrow during the course of the competition. Now when during the competition - I am not sure.
Before we get started with this stunning weekend of show choir with the sound checks on Friday and the actual National Show Choir Finals Competition tomorrow, I would like to wish all 30groups competing tomorrow (it's hard to believe, isn't it?) the best of luck this weekend! I'm sure everyone is thrilled and honored to be competing against some of the best show choirs in the country. My eyes will be glued to the computer screen tomorrow watching the live feed from the start of the competition (which is 5:00 AM PST) to the very end! It is going to be a long day, but a day that will be in record books for sure of this wonderful art of show choir in which we all love and cherish. All in all, congratulations to everyone competing for qualifying at the National Show Choir Finals. With a competition of this caliber, I think it is impossible to predict results at this point... so we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow night!
Also, one last thing... Special shout-out to John Burroughs, Bonita Vista, and Los Alamitos who I know will represent California VERY WELL at this National Invitational Competition!!
good luck to everyone! ill be watching showchoir.com like a hawk at prom go ankeny and Cedar Rapids Jefferrson, represent iowa! and also best of luck to bemidji, some of the sweetest people i have ever met through show choir!
It is so hard for me to make exact predictions, so I cheated a little and I'm just going to group them instead. I got bored and went through everyone's competition record, and that definitely gives you a FAR better idea on the quality of each group when you see who they competed with and who they either defeated or lost to. You also see what kind of captions were common for them. So taking all of that into account, my predictions are...
1st-4th:
Burroughs, Los Al, Ankeny, Fairfield.
5th-10th:
Center Grove, Bemidji, Jenks, Mt. Zion, Carroll, Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
11th-14th:
Danville, Jackson Prep, Norwell, South Jones.
15th-19th:
Sullivan, Keller, Uniondale, Millard West, Horizon.
Now, I have not seen a lot of these groups. Like I said, this is almost entirely based off everyone's competition record (and reputation!). My predictions may change after seeing all of the groups.
Also, those groups vary. I don't have them in an actual order I think they'll go in. I just have them in what area I think they will place. Just to clarify

I am pretty confident with my top 4 picks; however, 4th Ru – 7th Ru is a toss-up! I know "Bemidji" beat "Center Grove" and "Center Grove" beat "Fairfield" but I happen to disagree with that. I also saw "Danville’s" show and I love it. "Trojanaires" are the wild card. They could take any spot. Normally I would put "West Side Delegation" a lot higher but they might not be as strong with many less members on stage. I’m sure they will still be Awesome! "Horizon" is also a toss-up. They have only competed once. From what I know they are really good! It's also really hard to predict 14th Ru - 18th Ru because all of the groups have done well at some competitions and not as well at others.
Many talented groups representing numerous states, each with their own unique styles. Exactly what a Nationals competition should be. I look forward to seeing how it all goes.

Awesome! And for clarification since other numbers were mentioned on previous pages, for those of you wondering the fee is $20! It's also been added up above on the event so hopefully that answers everyone's questions, but I'm sure people will still post asking about it...
A HUGE thank you goes to Horizon High School for switching times with Carroll! Thank you so much, it makes our experience at Nationals so much easier! Now go tear up that stage!!! Why did you guys have to switch?
At first I thought it might have something to do with arriving later to Chicago possibly due to the ISSMA concert competition which I think is one of the reasons Franklin Central isn't attending, but according to the schedule on the FAME website, Carroll still has the "sound check" performance on Friday so that's probably not the reason. Regardless, though, that is really awesome for Horizon to be willing to switch their late time slot to help out a fellow show choir. That's sportsmanship! Horizon is the early frontrunner for the FAME Award.
Our band (school band, that is) actually has an ISSMA qualifier that day earlier on, and I don't believe they were able to switch time slots for that. The majority of the band is a part of that, so we wouldn't have had a band for the perfomance Saturday. That being said, I'm also incredibly grateful for the switch.
Hey folks. For your information you can sign up for the live feed (web cast) at showchoirs.org. We look forward to an incredible event!
