I just want to take a second to congratulate all of our fellow AAA competitors...this was the most intense competition I have seen in a long time, perhaps ever. The level of quality was remarkable and consistent across all of the groups. Even more fun was how crazy different each group was. The opportunity to see Twinsburg, Homewood and Wheaton-Warrenville all in one place was awesome for us Cali folks and with Burbank and Los Alamitos performing in the same night....no wonder the tickets were so hard to get!

Thanks to Los Al for running a fantastic event! Hopefully we will see more visiting groups and epic competitions out here in California over the next few years.

I've got some inside information about points and scoring. One thing that was missed is that Wheaton tied with Burroughs for Best Showmanship. Like most contests, points awarded by the judges are converted into rankings. 3 judges had Burroughs in 1st, and 2 judges had Wheaton in first. As it turns out, if this competition judged by using raw score to determine the winner, Wheaton would have won because they had a higher point total than Burroughs did. Just wanted to get this information out there

Any word on point spread yet? I have an inside source but I cant say where from. This competition was run using rankings to determine the winners. Burroughs had 3 first place votes and Wheaton had 2. It actually turned out that burroughs and wheaton tied for best showmanship. Also, I heard that Wheaton had a higher raw score than Burroughs did. yeah, i know, juicy info! ;)

It's really interesting that their performance is around 14 minutes long (once you take into account the Los Al students doing introductions). I didn't really notice that on the live feed I watched earlier this year. I mean I know it is about quality and not quantity, but it just seems like an interesting choice when many other show choirs are performing for closer to 20 minutes.

They leave me wanting more which is much better than feeling "is this over yet?" That I get watching some shows....

That's right. It is about quality vs. quantity.

From the Sioux City Journal:
ANAHEIM, Cali. | Westwood Community School’s show choir got a rough welcome to Anaheim this weekend after a truck and trailer full of the group’s equipment was stolen overnight Saturday.

Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn said people traveling with the show choir from Sloan, Iowa, last saw the truck and trailer pulling out of a Marriot hotel parking lot at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. They did not know the trailer was stolen though until 8:36 a.m. the next day

School Superintendent Lance Ridgely said the people who saw the truck pulling out of the parking lot were eating dinner at a restaurant across the street. Those people originally thought the driver was running an errand.

The trailer was filled with the choir’s equipment, costumes and instruments.

Ridgely said it’s unclear how valuable those items are.

Dunn said it’s not uncommon for instruments to be stolen since the metal can be sold for scrap. He was not sure why they would steal the truck too, which was a 2001 Ford F-250.

Dunn said he is optimistic the truck and trailer will be recovered, and a statewide alert has been issued.

“It’s pretty strange. It’s a rather noticeable truck and trailer to take like that,” he said.

Ridgely said the trailer was stolen after the choir finished its competition. The choir finished fifth out of eight schools in its division. The school was also the smallest competing.

The district is flying the driver and his wife back home.

*The truck has been found with minimal damage, but the trailer's whereabouts are still unknown.

Really funny guys. good gob!

That was pretty funny. I like that California competitions do this type of thing. Did Hart's ever get uploaded? I am, though, a bit disappointed with Twinsburg being absent in the video. The Los Al students searched the internet... but did they search showchoir.com? Their monopoly theme is all over this site!

I want to thank and congratulate all of the amazing choirs who made the trip to Southern California for this event. The true winners were the audience members who got to witness some of the best show choir ever seen in a single evening. Congrats to Los Al for putting on a great event. I hope we can see more out of state groups, not only at Los Al, but also at Burroughs Showcase (we have a very large auditorium!) and SoCal and the other events in our area. You'll have a great time out here AND enrich us with your presence!

Was Burbank's set the same as the YouTube video we have, or was it tweaked a little?
In terms of repertoire i think was the same. They did add some more pizazz though, two huge Crucifix things as backdrops that had both sides flags(union and Confederate), artsy blood cloth when they were getting shots.
