On the west coast, for example, Burbank and Burroughs go head to head all the time (this year is an exception since Burbank is starting so late) and that means one of the groups is always going to place no higher than second.
Burbank hasn't competed against Burroughs until Hart the past two years as well.
I've noticed that everyone has been ranking Homewood pretty low. I'd like to point out that they are the ONLY undefeated group left in the Southern circuit (after Clinton's 2nd place at Wheaton). I could see them contending for a higher placement.
You're right about Homewood's record this year, but depth of competitions also matter. This is why I'm guarded when discussing "undefeated" choirs, because although it can sometimes mean something substantial, it's just one of many factors that determine success. On the west coast, for example, Burbank and Burroughs go head to head all the time (this year is an exception since Burbank is starting so late) and that means one of the groups is always going to place no higher than second. Does that mean they aren't a good choir? Obviously not. Conversely, Homewood hasn't competed against groups like Clinton this year... in fact, nearly all of their competition hasn't even scored a GC once this season. That isn't a knock on Homewood, just a statement that you can't just go by straight wins. Even most of Clinton's wins over the years have been against groups clearly not at their level. That doesn't mean they weren't capable of beating higher-tier groups, but there was far less risk involved.
I'm not going to make predictions quite yet. But I've noticed that everyone has been ranking Homewood pretty low. I'd like to point out that they are the ONLY undefeated group left in the Southern circuit (after Clinton's 2nd place at Wheaton). I could see them contending for a higher placement.
Another point: Wheaton, Twinsburg, and Homewood are all used to performing during the daytime, advancing to finals and stepping up their game in the evening. Will the one-performance set up affect their game? I mean: no chances for do-overs and no previous run-throughs on that stage, while JB and Burbank compete there every year without finals.
If this doesn't go to Twinsburg by a landslide I will riot. Not kidding.
Having seen Wheaton and Twinsburg both, I would put Wheaton above Twinsburg. After that, it depends greatly on the judges for the competition.
I feel like this competition is going to be a fight for third!! As much respect as I have for my fellow Midwestern choirs, California choirs seem to be on another level, completely different styles both vocally and visually. I just see either Burroughs or Burbank taking it.
lol. then there's homewood...
As great as they are, I can't see Homewood beating out any of these other 4. If they'd compete in the midwest and we could see them up against some other various groups, I would have a better understanding of where they're going to place. But I have seen them this year, and I think they're going to fall into the 5th place spots. No disrespect to Homewood though, because they truly are awesome!
I agree with that Wheaton will not win this. I truly believe that either John burroughs or Burbank will win this! cant wait to see how this turns out! gonna be a great compititon. Does anyone know if there will be a live feed?
If this was a midwest competition the top 5 would go like this (PREDICTION):
GC- Burbank "In Sync"
1RU- John Burroughs "Powerhouse"
2RU- Twinsburg "Great Expectations"
3RU- Wheaton Warrenville South "Classics"
4RU- Homewood "The Network"
I have seen twinsburg live and on a video. I have seen wheaton on video this year, and live in previous years. I think Twinsburg can, and will, take them. I know I am gonna get a hundred dislikes but, honestly, Wheaton's vocals are the expected Wheaton vocals, other than that, their show has no special qualities that make me go "wow".
Twinsburg show, on the other hand, is energetic the whole time with choreo that is fast-paced and energetic. They had much better vocals at Northcoast than at Marysville's Showcase and it will be interesting to see what they change/add/take away from their show with all this time off
I will say that Twinsburg's choreo is equally on par with Clinton this year; yes, they're THAT good. I think they could surprise some groups (seeing that most people have them fourth right now) and do very well here, although their vocals do struggle at times.
I agree on both counts... I wouldn't count Twinsburg out at all. That being said, I think Burroughs is solid this year and Burbank has been ace for three straight seasons. Josh is doing their whole set again and he doesn't disappoint. Have fun trying to predict this one.
The rest of Burroughs' set is equally amazing. The quality of the video I watched wasn't the best (Really looking forward to yours, Häakon!) but in my opinion, it's better than their past few shows. They've seriously brought it. I can't really predict who'll win without seeing Burbank's and Twinsburg's because the other three, who I have seen, are on top of their game. I do know that Twinsburg has three GCs and Burbank is always trying something new and succeeding at it.
This competition will be intense. Even more so than the Wheaton's and that's saying a lot.

I must say that I am extremely excited for this one. Always great to see groups from different parts of the country meeting up, primarily due to the crazy differing styles. As far as predictions go, I will predict that Wheaton's streak ends. I predict that 1-3 will be a combination of Wheaton, Burbank, and Burroughs, followed by Twinsburg and then Homewood.

I know Burbank hasn't competed yet, but from the past I'd say they're going to be up to par this year as always. Enough to win anyways. Wheaton is great but I don't think they're as good as past years. However, I do think they're good enough to get 2nd. Burrough's ballad is AMAZING. I can only imagine what the rest of the show is like. I wish I could've seen Twinsburgs show before now, because I may of placed them a little differently. I'v gotten to see Homewood once this year, and yes, they are fantastic. But I don't think this Homewood is the Homewood we saw last year. Also, they haven't competed against as many high calibar groups as some of the other groups have. It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out!
