I'm kind of surprised I was getting down-voted just for an honest, non-critical "prediction."
Lately it seems a lot of people have been downvoting prediction posts when they don't WANT the prediction to happen, regardless of if they even agree with it. Don't take it personally.

We all know that Clinton usually wins all the captions, but that doesn't mean we have to assume they will every time... Right?
I sure hope people aren't that jaded.

Can I just make I known that Mr. Scott Thorne, director of Homewood, is just a lain good guy. Not everyday that people like that, while in the middle of a major competition, will just stop you and talk to you. Major respect!

Wasn't trying to say Clinton was "having a down year", I just personally thought that two other schools really stepped up in those two caption areas.

We all know that Clinton usually wins all the captions, but that doesn't mean we have to assume they will every time... Right?

Again, just my opinions. I don't pretend to know it all here, so I'm kind of surprised I was getting down-voted just for an honest, non-critical "prediction".

LOL get used to it. That seems to be a trend around here =b

The thing that actually led to the belief that they were having a "down" year was actually going back to a comment about Clinton that I read somewhere earlier this season. Someone said they were very young and not as Clinton-like as usual.

Is Clinton REALLY having that bad of a year this year? Not being there, I can't dispute your predictions, but I do find this very unlikely to be the way it goes down.

Groups in finals:

Madison Central
Clinton
Oak Grove
South Jones
Jackson Prep

Well, I guess four out of five ain't bad...

Congrats to Oak Grove! They've had a tough couple of weeks with the tornado destroying parts of their school (some thought they may not even be able to compete), and overcame a lot just to be here, let alone in Finals! Great job, "Center Stage" !

Finalists (in order of performance): Madison Central, Clinton, Jackson Prep, South Jones, and Oak Grove.
Wow I'm almost shocked. This has to be the first time in several years that Petal hasn't made finals. I guess it shows that these are all some really good groups! (Btw can't wait to hear about Clinton's show!)

I love that he ranks Clinton number one and you respond about a "bad year" because of it not being a caption sweep . Oh, only Attache, so glad they have started the 2013 show choir season!

LOL I guess what I meant by what I said is that it is very uncommon that they lose out on vocals, and almost unheard-of that they lose choreography. To see those captions next to other groups' names was a little shocking haha.

Clinton is like the Los Angeles Lakers of show choir. Under constant scrutiny, and anything less than a clean sweep and undefeated season is considered a "bad" year for them because of the reputation and track record they have established.

It's funny to compare a high school show choir to a professional sports team

edit: But I do agree with you, in that I would expect Clinton to grab those captions, especially BC.

After watching all of Large Mixed groups, here is my opinion of the top six, as I would rank them:

Clinton (Overall Effect)
South Jones (Vocals)
Madison Central (Choreography)
Jackson Prep
Oak Mountain
Petal

SJ and Madison both stood out above the rest in those caption categories to me, but it's hard to imagine Attaché being anywhere but 1st.

Everyone looked great today, so Finals should be fun!

Good Luck to all!

Large Mixed awards are still 30+ minutes away. Last competing group just finished a moment ago, and I assume Homewood's exhibition is next.
Thanks for keeping us updated! I appreciate it!

P.S. Why does it seem like most Southern competitions run behind and seem to go longer into the night than most Midwestern/East Coast/West Coast competitions?
