We need more predictions guys! Just for giggles
Clinton

Oak Grove
West Jones

I'm not trying to be a copy-cat. You already put my prediction up there before I could get it up.

I went to YouTube just now, trying to find Albertville's show from this year and it isn't there. The most recent one is from 2012. If it is on there, can someone post the link to it? Thanks

Keep in mind that this is the first competition. I saw them the weekend after at their home competition and they were already much better. Check back closer to the end of competition season for the best video. That's when Mr. Rains usually has the best one picked out and posted!

The Friday event (Day One) has been updated with the middle school performance schedule. You can access Day One via the events/calendar tab or by clicking here. The elementary schedule was not added at this time, because we do not have that as an option for out site. I think this is the first time I have ever seen elementary schools with competitive show choirs listed on a schedule! I'll message Haakon about it.

In addition, whenever the complete results are announced, could somebody please post them here? Thanks.

If you go to Attache's choir page on here, they have over 100 people associated with their choir. I was thinking the students in Clinton weren't allowed to post or even have an account at all. I guess I was wrong. I can't wait for this weekend!

To my knowledge, and I could be wrong, they are allowed to have accounts and read all they want to, but they are not allowed to post.

At the albertville diamond classic I saw someone controlling the volumes for their band on an iPad..I don't think it's cheating but it was odd to see someone doing it

That's a big thing now these days. Nothing illegal about it, but for someone to see it might be funny. There a lot of ways to get by with something or do something with computers now a days...

This week is going by too slowly. I feel like it'll be worth my long drive though! Can't wait to see Clinton, South Jones, and Oak Grove again. They all put on great shows at Homewood! I also can't wait to see Albertville. Clinton had pretty solid choreo and their band was kickin'. I loved the backdrops too. Their vocals do lack a tad, yes. But they're still great consdidering the choreo they do to such precision and perfection. They also had quite a few solos. I absoluty LOVED Oak Grove's riser set up. Does anyone know how they lift it up like that? I also love their ballad. It was my favorite at Homewood! What's it called and who's it by?

Predictions (for GC-3RU only):

GC- Clinton (choreography, show design, band, possibly vocals)
1RU- Albertville (costumes, possibly vocals)
2RU- South Jones
3RU- Oak Grove
4RU- I couldn't tell you what's going to happen here. I'd say West Jones if I had my guess.

Is Clinton eligable for best band? I didn't think they were but they won it at Homewood. I just figured they'd have more than 1 adult because of how good their band is. I can't wait!!

I figured it must have been an adult associated with the choir. Still, it is the first time I personally have ever seen anyone associated with Clinton post on here.

Mr. Fehr posted in the Homewood thread this week. I do agree, though, that every time I see it, I am like, "Time to listen to this guy." haha

Ummmm.... WHOA!!! Somebody from Clinton posting on SCC?!?! I was under the impression that people from Clinton were banned by Dave Fehr from posting on this site. Was I misinformed or has this ban been lifted? You would be the first person from Clinton that I personally have EVER seen post on here. Not that I don't want y'all on here. I have always wanted to interact with people from Clinton on here and always thought it was unfair that y'all weren't allowed to post. Haha! Am I just crazy?

Our drummer and synth players have the option of using headphones during performance to hear the piano better. However, our guitar, bass, and horn players do NOT.

Thanks!

Robert Allen

Of course, I've only seen youtube videos of these large mixed groups. But I'm going to this competition on Saturday (Btw everyone that is going, find me--I'll be wearing my blue SCC shirt!), so I guess it's time for (literally) all of the predictions:

FRIDAY::::::::::::::::
Elementary Predictions:
1st: I have NO idea, just absolutely excited that there's even a division for this!

Middle School 1A Predictions:
1st: Jackson Prep MS
2nd: Oak Grove MS
3rd: Davison Academy

Middle School 2A Predictions:
1st: Clinton JH (undefeated since birth)
2nd: South Jones MS
3rd: Albertville MS

SATURDAY:::::::::::
Finals Predictions:
Oak Grove
Clinton
Albertville
South Jones
West Jones

Small Mixed Predictions:
1st: Columbia
2nd: Wayne County
3rd: Pisgah

Women's Predictions:
1st: West Jones
2nd: Tupelo
3rd: South Jones

Medium Mixed Predictions (it's so exciting to see a Louisiana school competing this year!):
1st: West Jones
2nd: Albertville
3rd: PRCC

Large Mixed Placements (prelims):
1st: Clinton
2nd: Albertville
3rd: Oak Grove

Final Placements Predictions:
GC: Clinton (Vocals, Visuals, Overall Effect--TIE OR sweep)
1RU: Albertville (Overall Effect--TIE)
2RU: South Jones
3RU: Oak Grove
4RU: West Jones
**Last year, those were the only three captions awarded at this competition.

Captions Reasoning: Clinton has won Vocals and at least tied for Overall Effect at EVERY single Southern competition since 2009. This is competing against groups like Homewood, Albertville, South Jones, Jackson Prep, Even Wheaton (2011) and Twinsburg (2009).
The only time since (at least) 2009 that Clinton has lost Visuals at a Southern competition was to Wheaton (2011).
Last year, Clinton did not lose a single Best Vocals/Musicianship or Best Visuals/Choreography/Showmanship awards at ANY competition.

I agree with most people's predictions. Obviously I don't want to predict the the Albertville and Clinton outcome (don't count out South Jones for a 2nd place finish either), I think people are reversing the best show design and best costume awards.

Albertville: Best Show Design, Best Vocals
Clinton: Best Costumes, Best Choreography, Best Band (if eligible)

Since someone brought up Within Temptation, I have been wondering who was the first person to use Within Temptation. I went back and watched some old videos and found this. Can anyone tell me if anyone else has used it before the records I found?

2010- Albertville's closer "See Who I Am"
2011- Albertville's second song "Our Solemn Hour, Clinton's closer "Our Solemn Hour"
2012- Albertville's opener "The Howling", Homewood's opener "Stand My Ground, Clinton's closer "Stand my Ground"
2013- Clinton's closer "In The Middle Of The Night", Enterprise's closer "Iron"

Not that it matters for anything, but I was just wondering.

Gotcha! Thats what I meant but unclear I guess lol. It would be hard to run ears for guitar players and horns and such since you would have to mic them first which is a pain. I knew I saw them (drummer and keyboard players) last year with belt packs and stuff so I figured they in-ears all the way around. Its an awesome thing if you can do it, I would love it. I have tried to do it this year but didn't really work out. Everything I drum outside of show choir I run a set of wireless in-ears with some custom molds I had done. Its a great thing!
