It is obviously very rare that a school can sweep all three categories in the day round and not be awarded the overall championship. Janesville Craig did a great job in the finals-esp the visual aspect. Dowling was absolutely at an entirely different level in the finals. Not sure I have ever seen such a dramatic change. They wanted it-they worked it-they got it.

The confusing part is that you announce the day awards at night. Clearly every director knew who had the highest vocal and choreography scores during day, so why not just award those during the day awards? And you of course could have awarded Best Choreography and Best Vocals at night in the same regard, seeing as you chose raw scores as your finals scoring method. Just a few thoughts to make things a little less confusing.

A few things I'd like to point out as an attendee, from the things I saw:

Sheldon was awesome!!! I saw them start finals and holy crap, they sing so well!

I thought Norwalk was GREAT! Nice job kids!

Carroll sang very well!! Congrats on making finals!

Dowling's show was wonderful! Huge congrats on pushing your show to its limits! Awesome!!!

Again, no disrespect to any show I didn't mention... I'm just mentioning the shows I did happen to see!

Once things start to slow down for the night I will try to add the rest of the prelim schedule since Haakon forgot to come back.
Haha, I'm still here. Just been ridiculously busy this week... like 2 hours of sleep a night busy. There's an issue with one of the schools that I still need to fix, but I'll have more time this coming week to get it all sorted.

Those were BV and BC, not all 3.

Thank you for figuring out the complete order! I really need better sources.

These results are extremely interesting when you look at the captions. Is this a first that a group has been awarded a sweep but not won GC?

Happend to Choralation twice when I was a member (minus best band)...
Grand River 2008

I am aware of this as I can read But my question still stands. Even of Dowling scored higher in finals, Janesville Craig was awarded the sweep because of daytime scores. Meaning Janesville Craig got the sweep but finished 1RU. Has this ever happened before?

Yeah it has happened before Loveland at Troy in 2012 got a sweep against Glenwood and captions were awarded in finals and got 1stRU.

Well it does say that the captions were taken from day scores, so it's very possible Dowling Catholic could have scored higher in finals, but just did not receive the recognition.

Yeah, very interesting. Must have been an intense Finals.

Anyways, final results have been posted. Once things start to slow down for the night I will try to add the rest of the prelim schedule since Haakon forgot to come back.

Okay, so my source is extremely confused and I saw on Twitter that Carroll "Swingsations" made finals here SO the above finalists are incorrect by at least one spot. Sorry, my bad. I should stop getting information from freshmen

Good luck to everyone competing here today! Emmetsburg is one of the best competitions around -- especially the food!
