I get a kick out of the fact that everyone sounds 20+ years older.

I have a friend that is student teaching at Wheaton...he is going to try some things after Mitchell I believe!

For the others that are streaming, are you having problems getting visual? I've got sound, but the video is just a black screen.

A show choir's grand championship performance should look the same in the first or second slot as it should in the fifth or sixth slot.
I think it does. I just don't think they're judged the same. But I was just teasing anyway.

Will be very interesting to see how this one ends up.

So you're volunteering your choir to always go first from here on out?
I was talking exclusively about this competition with my prelim examples. For this competition in specific, I wouldn't mind performing first. With this strong of a caliber of groups I don't think performance order is going to determine the winner. Plus performing first here gives the opportunity to see the other great finalist performances.

But in general and not specific to this competition, I would never get upset about performance slots for finals especially if it's randomly drawn out of a hat. A show choir's grand championship performance should look the same in the first or second slot as it should in the fifth or sixth slot.

Slightly shocked. Okay, slightly is an understatement. Very interested in scores.

Although that brings up the conversation of whether or not performance slot matters.

They didn't announce times, but finals start at 7:30 CST... so one could assume the second finalist will probably go on around 8pm, the third at 8:30, etc.

The performance order is listed at the top of the page.

The finals schedule is on their competition website. It's basically 30 minute intervals starting at 7:30. Awards are at 11:00.

I am referring strictly to this competition.

He is most likely referring to Decatur/eisenhower. But I don't agree with the sentiment. Last year tburg didn't deserve finals because their vocals were weak. And einsehower put on an awesome show at prelims this year. The only groups I said would have been more deserving is if clinton/waubonsie/buffalo grove didn't make it.

Guess some groups are just really, really lucky time and time again.
Although that brings up the conversation of whether or not performance slot matters. If you look at the prelims performance there were groups that performed early (Glenwood), in the middle (Urby), and near the end (Danville) and none of them made finals.

No one should be surprised by the results. There is an unwritten rule at this competition that a certain choir always makes finals regardless of their merit. Last year they beat out a far more deserving Twinsburg for a finals position, in 2010 they beat a far more deserving Albertville, and this year it was a far more deserving Urbandale. Thumbs down me all you want. It needs to be said.
I would assume Eisenhower/Decatur "Elite Energy" is who you're referring to since that's the group in common with the 2013, 2012, and 2010 Choral Classic.

My assumption would be Clinton, since I'm not sure anyone else in this lineup competed against both Twinsburg and Albertville in the past couple of years.

Burbank.
No, they were the ones "overbooked" out of this competition, remember?
