I have a question. Are you guys underestimating Clover Hill they just won there last competition ?
I find it quite interesting that Clover Hill beat Piqua at the Solon Invitational but then Piqua beat them at Teays Valley. It was probably the judges at Teays Valley compared to the judges at Solon! I think the placement of Clover Hill really depends on what the judges are looking for at this competition.

i not trying to be biased, but nobodies record is perfect. Marysville has only won two GC and has com in 3rd as there lowest for losses, Findlay One win this whole season so far and 4th as there lowest. i understand but there vocal sound is very big. Have you seen there show ?

Yes, it is true that they won there last competition, but look at who they competed against. The next highest group is cosby (is there show on youtube?). Honestly, they have not been to many hard competitions this year. Teays Valley was the hardest (and look what happened). Solon was the next hardest. They competed against Piqua, Teays Valley, and Colerain. Another group competing at Nashville is Marysville. At both Teays Valley and Solon, the only groups Marysville didn't already beat during season is Grosse Point and Teays themselves. Marysville even beat Huntington North and Cosby (which were the 1st runner ups at the other two competitions where Clover Hill won). In regards to Hastings it is another story. They beat groups like Waconia, Bemidji (SP?), Urbandale, and Eisenhower (Decatur). They are all great "central Midwest" groups, that would not compete in Ohio, much less Virginia. This is why I believe Clover Hill is being overlooked.

They've also won their first two competitions. However, when they competed at Kecoughtan their best competition was Cosby. So it's kind of hard to place Clover Hill. And, placing 4RU at Teays really hurt their reputation for this season. In response to your comment; Yes. I think they are being underestimated. But not underplaced. I think they fall into the same category as Totino. They could easily make finals. But some people suggest they wont.

Still regarding Findlay, I think they're definitely underestimated. Manley has come up with a brilliant show in my opinion. I loved their opener when it was playing on my iPod, and now I love it even more when I hear FFE sing it! The last time I saw them preform was Medina on the live feed, so I have no idea where they stand with their closer... But I think htey'll do great with what they're given.

I'M SO EXCITED FOR NASHVILLE

Last years group had so much more energy and drive (which partially is contributed by the flow of last years show which grew into a huge Latin salsa-lovin fest!) This year... I just feel like findlay has presented the best they can do with a show.
I think with their high energy opener and wonderfully done 2nd number (my personal favorite) they can get the crowds attention for sure!!
It's interesting how these are contrasting differences in opinions in terms of Findlay's energy. That's what's great about show choir, we all appreciate different things. Personally, I agree more with Alex, but that's just me.

but, the additional props and their tapping... I dunno. I feel the show could better without the blacklights, whacking sticks, and converse tap shoes. Just my opinion.
Bottom line: If they practiced their tapping and if they dont rush, they'll do great at Nationals!
Findlay's closer does have A LOT going on in it. But their last competition was Bishop Luers on March 2nd (which they won GC). They have had plenty of time to clean that number up and make any tweaks. I would expect for it to be really great!

As an addendum to your post, I would also include Marysville as a prominent theme in these discussions so far. Just as much as people having been saying Loveland could be a threat to contend at SCN, students have also talked a bunch about Marysville and Mr. A. So it goes both ways.

Personally, I think Findlay is being completely forgotten in the discussions! I realize they didn't compete against either Loveland or Marysville so you can't compare placements, but Findlay is a fantastic and classic show choir. Not to mention they won 4th last year at FAME Nationals and have a strong award record this year as well. I only saw their show once this year via live feed, but I enjoyed it. And I'm sure they have had plenty of time since March 2nd to clean up their closer. It will just be interesting to see how they do here.

Oh Findlay...

I've got some buddies in Findlay and I'm absolutely IN LOVE with their show. When they competed at Marysville they had only known their closer for a week(which was bad planning on Mr. Manley's part) and they still managed to get 2RU. I think with their high energy opener and wonderfully done 2nd number (my personal favorite) they can get the crowds attention for sure! Its that darn closer!!!! Bottom line: If they practiced their tapping and if they dont rush, they'll do great at Nationals!

In response to Juanmart Teays Valley was a fantastic competition that we went to but it won't hold us back. One of the judges at the competition gave us 4's and 5's all across the board. Regardless of one competition that we placed poorly in It won't determine how we do at Nationals. Furthermore we make the best of are shortcomings because the seasons not over. We are excited to compete and see everyone at SCN. Best of luck to all

This competition is going to be really great its a shame I wont be able to make it. there are 8 groups easy that stand a shot at making finals. Getting this 100% is probably just as hard as getting a perfect bracket right??

GC: Hastings (BV)
1stRU: Marysville (BC)
2ndRU: Loveland (BB)
3rdRU: Findlay
4thRU: Totino
5thRU: Clover Hill

I don't really know about best band it could easily go to any of the groups in the top 6. I think the top 4 could easily be an any order though. I don't see Clover Hill breaking into the top 4 because of just how huge they lost at Teays Valley. But honestly this is gonna be one of the best national competitions of the year solely based on the huge depth.

I agree with you at the point of findlay being left out of the equation, however, Findlay is good, but they are not last years group. Last years group had so much more energy and drive (which partially is contributed by the flow of last years show which grew into a huge Latin salsa-lovin fest!) This year... I just feel like findlay has presented the best they can do with a show. The show is unique, and well thought (especially the opener!) but, the additional props and their tapping... I dunno. I feel the show could better without the blacklights, whacking sticks, and converse tap shoes. Just my opinion.

But then again, what do I know? Im just another college business major who loved, and will always love the art of show choir.

Predictions
GC: Hastings (BV, BC)
1RU: Marysville
2RU: Clover Hill (BB)
3RU: Loveland
4RU: Findlay
5RU: Totino-Grace
Okay to start off, Hastings is the same old great Hastings we all know and love. There will definitely be big competition from Marysville and Clover Hill…but with their consistent fantastic vocal scores…I think they’ll prevail. Marysville always puts up a great show with tight and clean choreography. They will end up a hair over Clover Hill probably because of better choreography scores. Clover Hill has done well this season with a strong show. They were recently beaten by Loveland at the Teays Valley Classic but they’ve done so well everywhere else I choose to look past that. Personally, Clover Hill’s band is my jam. I love their band and they always come with great sound and power. Loveland is kind of confusing to me because they’ve beat Marysville like once and Marysville has beat them twice. They’ve also beaten Clover Hill. I really don’t know what to think of this but with all of the buzz on Clover Hill and Marysville I assume that Loveland will fall to them at this competition. If any group were to surprise us at this competition it would be them. I completely agree with a post I saw in this competition “Watch out for Loveland”. Findlay has been a very good and consistent group this season. This group should make finals. They could move up or drop a spot but I definitely think that 4RU range should be accurate. Totino-Grace may not be the Totino of 2010 but they’re still good. The thing people are forgetting this year is the competitions that Totino went to were incredibly hard. They came up 8th at Urbandale barely missing finals and they earned a strong 5th at Omaha Westside losing to incredible groups like Mitchell and Lincoln Southwest. These losses are not shameful. Totino may not be as tight or clean or powerful as they once were but they are still strong and I believe they make finals at this competition.

There seems to be a theme in all of these posts...

My personal predictions based off what I have seen live and results from prior competitions:

GC: Marysville "Swingers Unlimited" (BC)
1RU: Hastings "Riverside Company" (BV)
2RU: Loveland "By Request"
3RU: Clover Hill "New Dimensions" (BB)
4RU: Findlay "First Edition"
5RU: Totino-Grace "Company of Singers"

However this one ends up, it will be a great competition with some of the best groups in the country. I would like to give a big good luck to Marysville, Findlay and Loveland representing the great state of Ohio.

Good luck to all.

Here's to hoping the judges wouldn't be biased because of the school's situation....
I guess I'm going to have to be the whiny bad guy and say at first, this comment really upset me. But hey, if Marysville earns a GC in Nashville in their minds, who really cares what the judges decide?

So I'm not really upset, and I see where you're coming from. But I think the judges will be fair and honest regardless of the choir's situation.

This always seems to come up when there is a group who is getting sympathy for their situation (Nationals 2007). I'm sure something like this would have been said if DeKalb had had an even better season than they did this year.
