Thanks Twinsburg for hosting an awesome competition!! All of the students and parents were beyond incredible. This competition was sooo much fun! The Monopoly theme throughout the school was so cool! Everything was so well put together! Congrats to everyone who competed! It was so cool to compete out of Virginia and watch amazing show choir!! Hopefully Cosby will come back to next year!!

Oh, it may be possible. Every 4th year (I believe) due to Band OMEA large Group, Crystal moves to the second weekend in March, not the first. Next year is that year. . . I think!

Ha ha! I knew I remembered something about Fairfield's competition changing. We couldn't go in 2009 because of it but maybe next year!

Okay, so I was there tonight for finals, so I have no idea what daytime held other than results, but I need to get this off of my chest (feel free to stop reading now because this will be an unpopular opinion).

Solon's vocals? Over. Rated. Are they good? Yes. But are they that good? No. I think that they got so much love last year that it got them a lot of pull this year. I loved Marysville and Piqua's shows, and I had it Marysville Solon Piqua in a very close top 3. I just don't get how they keep winning best vocals when, personally, I don't hear it. Nor do i love their choreo. But their band is outstanding. No doubt.

But nonetheless congrats to Solon on a great season and I'd like to thank GE for a wonderful competition from what I saw.

I'd just like to say that this weekend I had the opportunity to hear Solon's ballad. Wow. When I wrote Moonlight Sonata way back in the day, I finished it and thought "Yeah, this'll do. This is solid." But oh my goodness, Solon took my piece and transformed it. Their vocals were so good that I can now hear again. Literally, a miracle happened right there in audience. So I'd like to take this opportunity now to thank the good people over at Solon who are a part of Music In Motion. You really know what you're doing. That stuff is hard, and you certainly did it justice. I was there when it was written, so I know. Keep singing away over there at Solon, and continue listening to your director, especially when the educational iron is hot, because that is a man who knows his vocals. And if you don't believe that I was there, I was the guy in the powered wig sitting in the back screaming "I can hear again!" and then a little later during their show, "I WROTE THAT! WOooOOoo!" Keep it up Solon.

P.S. I'd just like to say, Symphony 9 was MADE for show choir. Come out on stage with powered wigs and open with that. Game over.

Question: Anybody know where I can order the finals DVD? I know they had them for sale at the competition but I had to leave early and never got around to the table.

Just wanted to say what an AWESOME competition this was!

Twinsburg--you guys were amazing hosts. All of your parents were friendly, supportive, and accommodating. The students were so nice and Great Expectations had one of the cleanest, most entertaining shows I've seen!

I have to say Marysville was my favorite show of the night. I loved what they did with their vocals in the opener, the insane energy in the second song, and then the character switch for the closer.

Solon was amazing as well...definitely a well deserved win!

Finally, just wanted to say thank you to everyone who showed support for Cosby. This was their first out of state competition in a while so they were completely thrilled just to be able to perform for everyone, let alone make finals for the first time outside of Virginia!

Solon won't be attending Fairfield's Crystal Classic anytime soon considering Solon recently starting hosting their own show choir competition on the same weekend.

But in general, very good post. I agree overall.

Congrats to Solon a a fantastic competition season! What I want to see now is Solon get out of Ohio and compete in Indiana and Illinois and compete against some of those tough Indiana and Illinois show choirs. I think that would be another stepping stone for Solon to take to continue to prove themselves as an Ohio powerhouse. It'd also be great to see them in a National competition or the Crystal Classic seeing as that always seems to attract the best! Congrats Solon once again and congrats to Marysville on 1st rup and Best Choreo. As always a very proud alumni!

A special thank you to It's been a while since we have traveled to Ohio and I am sure we will return.

I'll be an alumni by then, but I certainly hope to see you live next year again! It was really great to see a choir I'd heard so much about but seen so little of! Mt. Zion was fantastic!

A special thank you to Randy Lanoue and all of our hosts in Twinsburg from all of us in Mt Zion. We had a wonderful time in Ohio.
It was a pleasure to watch and compete against the high level of competition that the Midwest has to offer. Congrats to all the competing choirs and to Solon for their GC, it was very well deserved. The shows were amazing as well as the costuming and props. I thought Indiana went nuts for effects but Ohio wins hands down!!
The Swingsations and Les Femme were proud to share their shows with all of you. We hope that you enjoyed our shows as well. It's been a while since we have traveled to Ohio and I am sure we will return. We would love to see more of you in Illinois in the future.
Again, thank you and congrats to everyone who competed. Ohio, WV and Virginia should be very proud of the talents of your kids.
Special shout out to the Cosby kids, your excitement was inspiring!

Does anybody have the results for the middle schools?
It was a Loveland middle school sweep and GC. They won Vocals and Choreo.

Thanks to Twinsburg on hosting an AMAZING competition! Other than not being able to get into daytime awards (which can happen literally anywhere!), I thought it was very well run and was very enjoyable! And how you all ran with the Monopoly theme? Oh my goodness, just some of the coolest props around the school, it made the whole day even better. Congrats to Solon on a great season and I'm glad that we got to compete with them! (Even if we didn't win, who cares? It's always fun to see great groups!)

There are far too many 'unassociated' posts in this forum...this rarely if ever leads to productive/positive conversation.

May I suggest a hearing evaluation? I too was in the auditorium and heard some amazing choir performances. The thing with Solon vocally is that they do things that other choirs do not. They are incredibly consistent throughout the entire show and you don't have the ramdom pitch problems that other choirs do.

To suggest that their vocal scores are related to last years success not only demeans their effort and the integrity of the judges it is rude. They have been judged best by 20 some educators (who know more than you or I about vocal music) at multiple events for one reason only. They simply are the best.

Congratulations to Solon on another amazing year and to all the choirs from finals! It was a great show!

Okay I was just looking through the daytime awards again and would like to know how Solon won best show concept over Mt. Zion or Piqua. That makes absolutely NO sense to me so please, explain why you think it went to them.
