Sound Sensations won GC for advanced women division along with best show and best vocal. Amanda Chugg of Sound Sensations won the female solo competition.
I can guarantee that each group will bring out something completely different (out of the box) from the rest of the season so far. I think any of these groups could take GC here. Of course, being from the south, I would LOVE for Clinton to win! And Clinton is the only group I've ever seen live at this competition. I really didn't really understand or like JB's show (what I've seen on YouTube) nor Burbank's. I think those storylines could use more definition and be made clearer. Clinton's storyline is a bit easier to follow and simpler. Clinton is Clinton as far as vocals and choreo go. JB looked like Burbank but sounded like JB. Burbank was completely different than what I expected. I wish Los Al was in the mix because I liked what I saw of their show this year.
So YouTube-based predictions:
GC: Clinton (Musicianship, costumes)
1RU: Burbank (Showmanship)
2RU: JB (Acapella, crew?)
This competition can honestly go any which way for Tier I. All three choirs will bring their A++++ game and kill their performances. Is there a live feed????
Of what I've seen on Youtube, that's where my choices are. Maybe it goes down differently, but this is just what I feel it will be.
Wish I had the money to go to this competition, it has so much talent, would love to be there to witness it all go down. Best of luck to all of the choirs!
I'm so glad Los al is doing an exhibition!!! All 4 groups are 1st place choirs, i wouldn't worry about placements and just enjoy the fact that I'm having the pleasure of watching 4 of the best show choirs in the nation. I wouldn't want to be a judge at this comp.
I dunno, it smells like Los Al is setting Clinton up for the win with the selection of judges and performance time.
It feels like the Oscars, you know there is someone who SHOULD win, but someone else will win.
This is your second post on this topic regarding the Los Alamitos Xtravaganza's selection of judges. Your first post was on page one and was the following:
hmmm with this judging panel, i can see how clinton can win
Be aware that I'm not bashing your opinion, because I'm not. I'm just saying that with all due respect, I think you may be jumping the gun a little bit on this one. The competition hasn't even happened yet and it's a showdown of show choir powers regardless of who the judges are. Burbank, Burroughs, and Clinton. This isn't an easy competition to predict, because who knows what can happen...(is there a time penalty rule here? too soon?)
And I don't really understand your second post (which is the top quotation in this post)... "it smells like Los Al is setting Clinton up for the win with the selection of judges and performance time." First off, performance time shouldn't matter. Those three are back-to-back-to-back. If it was like a Midwest competition where the structure is different and Burbank went on at 11:00 AM and Burroughs went on at 11:30 AM and Clinton went on at 3:00 PM...then performance time might be debatable, but back-to-back-to-back? There's no argumentative case for that, sorry. These three groups will all have spectacular performances regardless of the order between Burbank, Burroughs, and Clinton. Clinton performing last shouldn't be any type of bonus...ever heard of the saying "That's a tough act to follow"? Yeah, well they'll be following Burroughs and Burbank! Not as easy as it sounds. Besides, I believe Clinton performed after Burbank and Burroughs both in prelims and finals at Xtravaganza 2009..how'd that work out for them? Secondly, I don't think Los Al is setting anything up and to assert that it seems that they're "setting Clinton up for the win" is kind of naive and distrustful. I trust Los Al, because they have put on phenomenal competitions in the past.
I'm honestly not worried about "judges' bias" or performance times, because I think these three powerful groups will leave it all on stage and the best group will have earned the first place trophy. Best of luck to all competing groups!
edit: I suppose drumcorpsut42 beat me to the punch, but I'm not erasing this short novel. Again, I tried to be as honest and respectful as possible!
Burbank wins with choreo and Clinton close 2nd with vocals
I revise my selection
GC: Burbank BC
1ru: Clinton Design (Vocals?)
2ru: JB (Vocals?)
Saw burroughs show, I don't like it all that much, great talent, but not much going on in the show to make it jaw dropping like normal. It is rather boring, but I do believe that they have a strong chance for vocals, they sing rather well, As for choreo, clinton has a chance, but I believe Burbank pulls it out mainly because they have a more or less choreo based show in my opinion. Any other ranks below this i can't really tell, i have never payed attention to any other choirs really besides Hart a little and some Bonita Vista, but those top 3 ranks are my predictions
