Wow I looked at the score sheets today and yeah it was close in each division. There was not really a blow out in any which one. I can't wait to see how this season turns out. Infusion I have to commend you because I have never seen the group go on stage with such passion, you guys left everything on stage and didn't care about the placement. I think this year is going to be the year that each group will do as Mr Willert said and forget about placements and such and just enjoy the art of it all....remember guys its just show choir the world keeps going....Competitions should ONLY be a place where people get together for a common love and that is music...like Mr willert said if it means that much go back and write 1st on the trophys....the real award in it all is really seeing the reaction and smiles people get when they are watching you....I would much rather come in last place as long as I know I helped put on a show that people enjoyed watching because I know I made a difference in them for 15 min. So come on guys lets forget about placements and the politics of show choir and just enjoy being with each other and making music with each other. I love the DB comp because there is no pressure on any group to go and win becuase in the end we are all winners and thats how it should be. Great job everyone, I can't wait to see some of you groups at TOC.
DVDs for the DB Spectacular can be ordered from V&S Video in Walnut. They have a website. You can contact your director for order forms, or call the company directly. The cost will be $15. per division or $40. for the entire set (3 divisions). Dave
I'm gonna miss everyone! ESP. the performance of MM!! But i will be thinking of all of you during the first night of convention. SOMEBODY BETTER CALL ME WHEN THE COMP IS OVER AND GIVE ME RESULTS!! i dont care how late it is, i will probably be awake anyway!
I LOVE HART!! DANCING IN THE AISLES IS SO MUCH FUN!! i rmember my frosh year when people started doind that, i was liek WOAH, that is ettiquette, but i soon joined in w/ all the fun! Im gonna get so sad while in Orlando for Showstoppers having the knowledge that HART is going on during that time. . . ::tear:: ::tear:: ::teart::
After I reread my last post, I realize that I did not express myself clearly at all. My thoughts about CA vs. Midwest were kinda mixed up with my worries about the slipping etiquette. I was trying to say that our format is somewhat like a "classical" music concert, except that clearly the material calls for a less reserved response (not to mention that half the audience will be up on stage at some point...and that certainly is exciting!). I wasn't really making a comment on Midwest show choir except for that we HEAR about full day shows (which is a lot to sit through), performance spaces that don't seat the full amount of people competiting (thus video screens and in and out seating is a must), and in general a more "Music Festival" feel. Honestly, that format is a LOT of fun (there are certain similarities to the SoCal festival), but there are great things about our format as well. By expecting most people to watch most groups (and be supportive...and I wasn't making a comment about the Midwest there either), you ensure that each group gets to perform in front of a full audience and that all students are exposed to a wide variety of music and performance styles in a short time.
I think each festival is a bit different and you have to use your best judgement to decide what is appropriate (ie: dancing in the aisles at Hart!).
Actually sad enough i will no be in attendence at Brea for reason of prior engagement. NFTY *North american Federation of Temple Youth* Convention 2005 is Feb. 18-22. It is a held every other year, so this would be my last possible year for attendence. . . BUT I STILL LOVE YOU!!

...'tis a good time to be in show choir. We should all really be thankful for the fact that these competitions ARE so close and so hard to predict. That just means that we're all performing at a higher and higher level each time and that we're all awesome choirs.
MY personal favorites/highlights of the night have to include Sound FX, El Rancho, Hart, In Sync, and Out of the Blue...not to say that i didn't enjoy everyone, but those were the performances that had me saying wow.
Los AL - You guys totally connected with the audience. My choreographer, the lovely Jen Oundjian, tells us to try to get the audience to want to come up on stage with us and dance. That's exactly what you did....to the point where half of the audience was literally out of their seats by the third song. awesome
El Rancho - ALso highly entertaining. From the very first number, with the soloist pumping up the audience, you guys had everyone in the auditorium in the palms of your hands. It was wonderful stuff, very innovative and daring.
Hart - I must say I was a little bit dissapointed after seeing your set wednesday night. The talent was all there but the overall performance that night was just lacking something, i thought. Then Friday night it was like you had had two months of rehearsal time. Not only was everything much sharper and intense, you guys seemed to have that something that it was lacking a couple nights before. YOu were on, and just like los al and el rancho you had everyone ruinging their voices.
In Sync - I won't even mention the whole thing with you guys not being there or rehearsing outside because I know a lot of you and judging from what i do know of Mr. Carrol, he would never try to bend the rules in any way to gain an unfair advantage. You all performed spectacularly and you got what you deserved. Just like HArt, I saw something in your performance that I didn't get last week at Aztec. YOu connected. congratulations.
Out of the Blue - I'm curious, are most of the people in OUt of the Blue Freshman/Sophomores? The performers LOOK young...that is until they start performing and then they all look like veterans. I don't know where you get it from; I know it took me a few competitions to really understand what the whole show choir thing was my freshman year, but you guys all show up and nail it right away. awesome job
**Tara - I've never had better choir sex. THanks again!

If you want competition opinions, you picked the wrong competition to miss. . . As you should be able to tell by now, people are not talking about opinions of the results. . .
People have decided to move on, which is a smart idea. WHY DON'T YOU DO THE SAME!
The competition was amazing, the groups were great! I can't wait til the next competition to see everyone again!
Okay... I didn't go to DB but this may be the worst results page for DBS I have ever witnessed... where are all the comments about people's shows and critisism... take your rules and crybaby tactics somewhere else... I WANT COMPETITION OPINIONS...
