So i don't know what happened to TG but they are 100000000 times better here than they were at Milton. All the staging changes were really great and desperately needed! Really great job.

I guess mtz girls hair is done with rollers. I hear they wear them up untill about an hour before they go into warm up and put them in before they leave or the competition. I was also told no curling irons are allowed and the fog in the girls room is 100 times worse than other rooms. Maybe I was told wrong but it makes sense

Haha just because I know some Mt. Zion girls, no it isn't a hairpiece. I don't how they do it but I know that their director makes sure their curls are equal on both sides or something like that. :p

i love this. i'm such a stickler for hair. the bigger the better!!

I know it's taken me a while to get around to posting this, but I just wanted to thank Wheaton for hosting a great competition. The gym felt nothing like a gym, the food was great (I loved the pizza), and my hosts were just some of the nicest people. They were great to meet. Also, your show is fantastic this year. The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies and it was awesome to see it in show choir form.

Also, for any Totino people out there, a big congrats on Grand Champion. I was only able to see your finals performance, but there was a lot of fire and energy behind it. Very well done. Also, everyone I met from your school was incredibly nice. Especially 2 people my friend Dana and I met when we were leaving (They were both in the solo competition too. A boy who sang "Maria" and a girl who sang "Not For the Life of Me"). If you know them, please tell them sorry we were crying so much (it had hit us that it was our last competition ever) and thank you for the hugs.

This was a great end to 6 years that will forever have the biggest affect on my life of anything I've ever done.

I would also like to echo everyone's sentiments in saying that Wheaton runs a top notch competition. Along with Fairfield, I believe they have the best gym set up of any competition I've ever been too and I thought the sound at the competition was the best I've ever seen. Props to Wheaton and their parents for running such an amazing competition.

Overall this was probably the best competition and finals that I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Everyone in finals absolutely BROUGHT IT, and it was the first time I honestly thought that anyone could win the competition. Congrats to all that competed!

Wheaton- Genius. Enthralling. PHENOMENAL. Thats really all that needs to be said. Its gotten even BETTER since I saw it at Great River. It is definitely in my top ten shows of all time.
^I totally agree with you on this one. I was floored with how amazing they were. There was so much energy, the vocals were amazing, choreography was crisp, and the band was kicking it the whole time. It was definitely one of the top two performances I have ever seen. Great Job!

I guess I'll try to put my thoughts down here:

First off, I echo what everyone has said who was there live on Saturday. Wheaton puts on an amazing competition that is worthy of the caliber of groups it gets. The stage setup is probably the best gym setup I've ever seen. The people at Wheaton are top notch people who care about everyone who comes through the doors whether they are competitors or just spectators, you can feel that love all day.

I saw every group from Simply Irresistible (at 9:20am) through Wheaton's performance and it was quite an impressive day of show choir.

I'll focus on finals. Every group that performed in finals absolutely brought it. Every group was doing their best to leave it all on that stage. And I would say that all of them did. It really was a great finals overall. The energy levels were off the charts all night.

There is a lot that can be said about how the finals turned out, but in the end every group is made up of extremely hard working high school students that just try to perform at their best every single time they take the stage. Jonathan pointed out the phrase my dad uses when he talks to ATSC before their last performance each year "winning is not the point, doing your best is the point." That is truly what every single group did on Saturday night. So props to Totino, Mt Zion, Lincoln SW, Mt. Prospecct and Eisenhower.

A special congrats to ATSC. You guys were downright incredible this year and continued to get better each time. I know there are a lot of really proud parents, friends, and alumni out there.

And to all the SCA people that were there this weekend, it was great to see all of you. Truly an amazing weekend.

I just want to thank Wheaton for running a great competition on saturday. On a fun scale of 1-10 I ranking it a 10. I gave FAME Orlando last year a 9. The hosts were awesome for every group. I loved how friendly every group was towards each other which is very hard to find at competitions. I have never competed against so many different states and I found it really cool being able to see how different show choir is across the midwest. At this competition I saw my two favorite things. Chik-Fil-A and a group that did a Marc Broussard Song(Mt. Zion-Could you believe). If you know me I am obsessed with Marc Broussard and I am actually listening to him as I write this. Ok on to finals. I was sad to see my last competition not go exactly the way I had hoped it to but oh well. A quote from my director is "Winning is fun but winning is not the point." I just remember going up to him after our finals performance and telling him I don't care where we place. We could get last place in finals by a million points and it wouldn't bother me because I had never felt that way before during a performance. I honestly cried before our show(no one saw me), during our ballad(the whole audience saw me), after our show(everyone saw me) and after finals awards. I didn't cry because we got second though. I cried because I had never felt this close with a group of people in my life. I mean a trophy is a trophy. They get thrown away and recycled after so long but the feelings that you feel on stage is what you will always remember. I just want to tell all Juniors, sophomores and freshman to enjoy it while you have it because it is gone before you know it.

With much love and emotion,
Jonathan Liakos

I just want to put a disclaimer that "midwestscfreak: is not associated with our group. Some of his posts have made it seem like he is a member of our group in a disguise. This is not the case though. We talked and said that if someone came forward they would not be "in trouble" with all of his. No one did. We have heard that many people are starting to look poorly towards us because of his comments. I just ask that you please when making conclusions(if that is the right word) about our group that you ignore his comments. Thanks so much.....email me if that didnt make sense I'm still in a haze from musical rehearsal.

Thank you so much for this. People are allowed to have opinions but I would rather his thoughts not receive any association with ATSC.

Did anyone else think that the sound could have been turned down a little? You couldn't talk to the person beside you if you tried Otherwise, loved this competition. The quality of the performances was Awesome.

I didn't think it was too loud, though I'm still deaf from Great River, where it was ridiculously loud.

You shouldn't be talking during a performance. I'm telling Mr. Johnson!
