Esperanza Vivace was 3rd Place in Intermediate Women, not 4th. Is there someone who can change that?
Hello Mr. Fenton! Haha Saw you yesterday in the choir room. Anyways, I'll ask one of the SCC Crew members to change it. Do you know the exact rankings for everyone, like if Bedazzled was fourth or anything?
Well stated.
My groups never attended Aztec Sing because they were never at that level. A lot of groups seem to be attending out of state competitions.
It is horribly difficult to get any sort of profit when having to rent out a place. I recall every year the squeeze to fit into Los Alamitos theater.
It is a catch 22 situation and it's sad.
My choirs are attending CMEA choral festivals this year and we are struggling just to make ends meet with that. Then again our school distrcit isn't allowed to fundraise.
Another director and I would like to start a Northern California show choir circuit but it's hard if people won't support it. I don't want to work hard for something only to have it die in one day.
It's "Aztec Sing", not "Aztec Sings". That competition had the lowest entry fee of any competition in California and It died for various reason, one of them being that groups that supported it in the past stopped attending. Since those groups sold most of the tickets, attendance went down. This made it impossible for the hosts to make a profit, thereby killing the event. Some didn't like the scoresheet (so who does like everyone's scoresheet?), there were some silly rules, and it was early in the year. The judges were usually the same, but at least they were qualified, which is more than I can say for a lot of judges used at competitions. There seldom was any argument about the final placements and I can't say that about a lot of competitions.
If groups with large fan bases don't attend and support Southern California events, they will cease to exist. This is especially the case when the hosts have to rent auditorium, such as Aztec Sing, Diamond Bar, Arcadia, the SCVA festival, and even Southern Cal. Groups that use their own auditoriums will also have trouble making money if their auditoriums are small. The solution is to raise entry fees to guarantee some income, but that hurts everyone as schools and/or groups don't have the funds to finance entry into a lot of competitions.
I meant surprising in that people that normally place aren't placing at all. I suppose its refreshing to see different groups on top, just different is all.
too bad about Aztec Sings though it was dying when I left, it's a combo of the time of year it is on (no one is done with their show), directors don't like the score sheets, and every year semed like the same groups got the same places, and the entrance fee for aztec sings went up as I recall.
That's actually what I meant too. Mhmm, seemed like that was what was going on with Aztec Sing.
Edit: Thought it was Aztec Sing. Sounded strange with the s.

I have to say that, for me, this year the results so far in all divisions have been........surprising.
Was there no Aztec Sings this year? I haven't lived in SoCal for 3 years now so I'm out of the loop.
Same for me, but I was expecting this year to be a year of change actually. Nope, there was not!
Aztec Sing died.
In all honesty, I think it was bound to fall apart, it seemed like Azusa "Aztec Singers" has been out of the loop too long or at least last year it seemed so.
Sigh... random ranting, but I'm not done with show choir, only my second year... I wonder what I'm going to do next year in college, I don't think there's any show choirs in the colleges I applied to. I think I'm going to go start working harder on breaking. >_<
I don't think Division A or Division B necessarily defines different type of middle schools. I think a long ago Willert did A, B, C Divisions for Diamond Bar Spectacular one time when he was there or maybe it was Brea Olinda Classic I forgot, so I'm guessing he just grouped different middle schools together. So, to summarize it all, there's no difference between the middle school division A or B, they just competed with different schools.
Edit: Weird I can't find the event from before. I did remember seeing it though.
Well if people are wondering about the Jr High Division.
DIVISION B:
1-Travis Ranch Encore+ Music and Show
2-Oak Grove Revoloution
3-Tuffree Jabop
4-Alvarado Vocal Motion
I dont remember the results of DIVISION A but i know that Bell Showstoppers, Margarita Sound Quest, Slauson Treble Tones, and Goddard Allegro all competed in this division.
Can we please start talking in normal division names... it gets extremely confusing. I realize the programs probably called these things whatever they wanted, so it's not your fault. It's just getting a bit ridiculous.
Anyway, I assume Division B is the Middle School Division? Do you know what other groups performed in that division? What is "Division A?" Novice Mixed?
