One of the local channels has an over the air channel that broadcast the Finals from Mo-Show live. They are now re-airing it over set dates...I'm not sure if you'd be able to see it in Indy, as most OTA channels only transmit at the most 300 miles (avg~225). BUT, if you wanted to try, get your digital tuner out and surf around until you come up with KCRG Channel 9.2

Yah, my parents just didn't start recording until right after Milton's performance.... :-/ And I wish I had read this earlier, so I could've recorded it again. BLAH.

Another successful year at Mo-Show!
First of all-
Did any one else like how they switched sides up? I don't think i've ever been to one with it reversed like that, but I liked it a lot more, i feel like for the flow of traffic and for groups it was better.

Yah last year it was switched up like that also... but you were in Florida so you missed out :-P

There were SO many people at Mo-Show all day long. Great to see the competition back like that My only wish is that Stupid Student Tricks hadn't gone so long this year. If I had been in a group I would've been freaking out in the stands waiting for results lol.

BTW... to someone on the SCC crew. You left off the "Most Effective Props" award. That went to Mundelein. Just want to make sure they receive credit for an award that they completely deserved.

See Jay, this is what you get for not reading SCC every 15 minutes.

I only stayed for Day because i went to Jefferson for finals but here is what I thought-

Kennedy- I love the opener! Goodness do i love the opener. I just put it on my iphone to listen to. Something about it just awesome, and it all flows very well. I remember seeing Fireflies at the preview concert (yes, i understand its a preview) but was skeptical how it would play out, but also really like this song. Ballad is great as always. This is the best I saw your novelty number. Its cute and fun, and I would have to say the soloist you had at MOshow was the better one. He had... spunk and it fit with the novelty, and i HEARD everything which had been a big problem. The closer is still something I have a hard time liking, but you sing it and dance it very well. I am so impressed with what you guys have put out, and after day i KNEW you would win this. Everything was just so clean very good vocals for how many people you didn't have on stage. Very good job on the season!

Xavier- you guys sing very well, and dance very well. From what i saw in the day tho was the major band issues which has been said. You all put a lot into performing and you can tell. I really like the guys number! just a kickin band tho, and RAELLY brings some energy out.

Waukee- This is my first time seeing you guys and I LOVED your vocals. It was very good! I was hoping for a bit more of everything tho. I can't say I was overly impressed from what I hoped. Weaver did some fun things with you, just the show to me seemed a bit odd. I wish i could have seen it a second time just so I could understand it more, cause that is what i normally need for a Weaver show.

Mundelein SOund- Just a really really fun show. You are all performers and just own that stage. You're band is kick butt! I personally liked it the most of the day, and I really liked it at Ft. when i saw you guys. There is this blonde hair girl who is in both Lights and Sound and i could not take my eyes off of her, she was just spectacular!

Milton-I wish I could have really watched your show, I watched most of it, but i was really not feeling well so I had my head down. The choreography in the opener and closer were uper good and clean! Vocals lacked a bit in my opinion but you guys brought it. Great job on the season and here today, good to see you guys didn't lose anything with a new director!

Janesville- This is my 5th time seeing you guys (4th time live) and as always the band and the choreo rock it, vocals are just a big weak part. But I love that you guys bring it everytime you come out there and give every performance the best! great faces and intensity!

Protege- I love this show. This is hands down the best you've performed it. I just love the flow of the show, i love the song choices and I love the choreography that Damon and Chad gave you. The dresses are BEAUTIFUL. Great job on a successful season! You Remain the class of "prep" groups in the country!

Mundelein Lights- You are one of the few girls groups I can watch. And that isn't a knock on girl groups, its just so hard to get a show that keeps my attention, vocals that aren't super bright, and some fun choreogrpahy. You bring that tho! The design of the show is super fun and cute! Your ballad was just... LOVE IT. There is a section with girls in a circle and when they come in and sing... its so deep and rich and beautiful. I could listen to it all day. you remain one of the best girls groups i've seen tho, congrats on your show and i love it!

it is really great to see such positive feedback for Protege.
i take it as a HUGE complement people would consider us at the level of a varsity group.
thank you all

Jay, feel free to PM me about the people that may be complaining about placements, because I can assure you that does not reflect the entirety of the group. We are very proud of what we have accomplished this year, a transition, and are very fortunate to have the opportunity to compete at such a high level.

I would just like to congradulate Cedar Rapid Washington's "Momentum" on their performance. They were absolutely spectacular! I wish I could see them again. Kudos to them!! :D I'd also like to say that my favorite song they did was "Tightrope." I was glad to have competed there

Blah.... Taylor sucks. We just happened to have a lot of the same thoughts about every show, and I had no time to post my thoughts, and so now I finally do and low and behold, Taylor wrote down everything that I wanted to.... Grrrrr I only saw day round as I had a show to do at night, but my parents recorded finals for me (they were broadcast live on TV here in Cedar Rapids) so I got to see all the finals shows, except Milton :-(

Lights: I love the energy in the show. The choreography was very cute and fun. To me the vocals were a little too much head voice and needed some connection to the chest register. The ballad was really a lovely piece, and the staging made it very interesting. Costuming was beautiful.

Protege: This is the best prep group I've seen this year. It is not my favorite show design at all, but what you guys do you execute SO well. I would've placed you 7th, just out of finals, but you guys could've competed in finals IMO.

North: Just no energy out there. No facial expression at all. There were multiple people who were in the front row that I never saw smile the entire show. That is not performing. Your performance at Fort was the complete opposite of this performance and it is sad to see the show go downhill. Each performance I have seen you guys have less and less energy. Is that something you can work on? Get pumped up! You have a great show!

Milton: I agree with Taylor. Vocals were super breathy and were the least projected of any top tier group I saw Saturday, including Protege and Lights. However, your choreography had SOOOOOOO much energy in it, and your show design was probably the best of the day. THOSE BLUE DRESSES <3 They look great on everyone and are just super cute. Faces were great, the dancing was great, probably to me the 2nd best choreo of the day round. The thing to improve on is your singing. I think it takes individual work to get the breath support needed to dance that hard and sing well. Individual work to improve your voice in choir classes every single day. I think if you did that this program could be a Wisconsin powerhouse.

Waukee: Whoever your first soprano is I want to make amazing opera singer babies with her. I'm only half-kidding, she is that phenomenal. Your soprano sound was just so so so so so so so good. The vocals to me were top-notch. The dancing was really sloppy. Faces were a bit lacking, and blocking seemed skewed. HOWEVER. At finals I thought all the dancing issues were fixed. AND I thought that body of sound got even bigger and better. I'm not a giant fan of the show design, and that is a pretty big part of the scoresheet, so that is probably what dipped you guys to 3rd. I'm with Taylor, I had you in 2nd place with best vocals after the day. This was my first live Waukee show since 2005, and I enjoyed it a LOT! I might have to be a Waukee stalker next year

Mundelein: I loved your show at Fort and you guys continue to entertain me. I love the opener. So much energy in the choreography. I feel like after the opener the energy put into every move decreased. Now I think that Fireflies needs to be more relaxed, and you guys do that SO well, but to me the closer could use a bit more energy with every move. In my opinion, the closer doesn't create that excitement that I look for in a closer, which is sad because I really love the song selection in this show. As always, my favorite lyrics of the day go to your closer, because it is just so cute and funny But I didn't laugh cuz I didn't want to be yelled at again... Along with what I said about Lights, during the day I thought the vocals had a little too much head voice in them. That, of course, leads to really healthy singing, which is important when you perform 3 shows in a day, but I wasn't incredibly impressed with the singing. IN FINALS that was so not an issue. The singing was STRONG. I had you in 5th after the day round, but your finals performance was SO SO good and I bumped you up to 4th after watching that video. There was SO much energy in every song (a little decreased in the closer). Your band is ROCKIN. I didn't understand the Best Band at Fort Atkinson.... now I do. It is perfectly balanced with the choir, and the brass section is just so great- I would've given band to you after day, but I think Happiness also deserved the award. I really did love the show, even though your assistant director thinks I don't, and I might have to be a stalker for this group next year as well Thanks for entertaining me at two competitions this year!

Kennedy: This is not a show I love, but the components of your show are flawless. Faces are on the entire show. The sound to me is a little spread and pushed, but it is full and balanced, and the ballad is lovely. Choreography is so crisp. This is not a show I jump up and down for but in day round I had this group SOLIDLY in first place with choreography. I was mildly surprised with the best band award, just because I figured it would go to Xavier as always. However, watching that finals tape, i completely agree with the award. To me, the opener wins the award for you. Watching finals made me fall in love with the opener. I never had before that performance. The vocals were improved, the energy was so perfect, and the band just played so incredibly well. I do feel like the soloist is screaming a little bit. Maybe a little less singing from the throat, and a little more from the mouth with a high soft palatte would work better. I just don't want her to lose her voice, but I also think it would help her tone out. She sang it very very well though. It always takes me a while to like Happiness shows, so I guess finals was that time for me lol.

Janesville Craig: Ok so in day round I was really craving a fun, entertaining show at this point in the day, and you didn't disappoint. This was definitely the most audience-friendly show of the competition. Fun songs, high energy. Vocals are just a problem for me. It's less singing and more shouting. And Taylor was right, when you sang soft, you weren't used to not using so much chest voice and then the breath went out from under you and the pitch went flat. To me, this show is so fun, and then we get out of the ballad, and it seems like you kinda just repeat the first two songs again. Besides the ballad, this show is the same style song after song after song. It's the same choreography, the same really intense singing and facial expression. I just craved a little more variety in the style of the songs. It made the fun exciting songs less exciting as the show went on. There needs to be calculated dips in energy so we aren't just completely blown out of our seats by the end of your show (not necessarily in a good way). I had you in 4th in day rounds because I thought it deserved 4th. I didn't get to see Milton's finals performance, but I'm kinda not surprised you ended up 6th because I thought Mundelein jumped you, and Milton's show is fun and full of variety. We need a real choral tone, and these songs don't allow for that kind of singing. I know it's not anything you can work on for this year, but maybe your director can keep it in mind when choosing next year's show.

Xavier: So this is the 4th competition I've seen you at this year. Day round was not your best. Choreography was just not clean, and I'm used to seeing really really really crisp dancing from you guys. The band was WAY too loud. There was a Xavier mom sitting in front of me, and she commented on it before I even did. It just covered up the vocals, and was actually a distraction from the show. Diction was a problem in day round, but so was projection. It just all had to do with the balance of the band. So for mostly that reason, I had you guys 3rd after the day round. However, your finals performance was grand. Balance issues were fixed, and we got to hear the lovely vocals. Choreography was back to the level it has always been at. You guys deserved that 2nd place. Now I've been reading all over facebook about how you guys are disappointed with 2nd place... WHY?!?!?!?!?!?! The groups you have lost to this year are AMAZING. Kennedy has not lost to any Iowa group. Wheaton is FANTASTIC. Jefferson is having a stellar year! You guys should be PROUD of your show this year, because at Viterbo it was a train-wreck and it has been SO successful the rest of the year. It actually makes me sick to my stomach to hear members of your group complain about not winning every competition. Look about all the amazing groups you have beaten this year and think about all the groups that would KILL to be in your position... Take your awards and enjoy them, don't complain.

I completely 100% agreed with Taylor's day round placings. We both made them without talking to each other, but we both thought exactly the same (except band). Having seen the finals tape I agree with how it went. I think with a 10-member judging panel, it's hard to go wrong. I think all competitions should increase the number of judges they hire because it allows for many different opinions and overall the most correct and unbiased placements.

I was here for the day round and at Jefferson for finals. I had the day order going

1. Kennedy
2. Waukee
3. Xavier
4. Janesville
5. Mundelein
6. Milton
7. Davenport North

Davenport North- I thought you guys were much better at Great River. Everything sounded better there and you guys had way more energy there. It looked like you weren't as excited about performing at Mo-Show. The one positive I can say is that you guys looked cleaner in all your songs

Milton- I thought you guys had a fun show. Everything was clean and full of energy...but the vocals were not good. They were very breathy, while trying to sound dark. They just didn't sound like you guys had a very good support helping you sing

Waukee- I love your guys sound. You guys have such a fantastic and rich sound and you can get REALLY loud. The choreography was sloppy in some parts and some songs in the show seemed uninspired. I thought you had the best vocals I heard all day

Mundelein- I enjoyed your show this year, I really liked the Billy Elliot songs a lot. Other than that I guess it wasn't that memorable. Everything was clean but didn't have a lot of emphasis and the vocals sounded okay but didn't really WOW me. The band was VERY good

Kennedy- You guys did it again. The performance was just as good as the one at Great River. I actually understood a lot of the words in the novelty and I enjoyed the closer this time. You guys have such a unique sound that just works so well for you and as always your choreography is very tight and full of energy. Hallelujah was magnificent and is the best ballad I have heard all year.

Janesville- The most energy-filled in-your-face show I saw all day. It was so fast paced and intense all the way through. The vocals needed some work; when you guys sang loud it sounded like you were screaming and when you sang soft it sounded breathy and not well supported.

Xavier- I was very underwhelmed. The guitar, drums, and bass were WAY too loud during the day and I couldn't hear anything else. When they weren't playing I could hear the choir and their wonderful tone just fine. Now as for the choir, there was very little projection. I couldn't really hear anything all show long. You had wonderful soloists and a great tone, but I couldn't hear the choir at all. Another thing is diction, because in the closer I didn't understand a single word the choir said in the closer and I feel like if I could have heard the choir and understood what they said that song could've been really epic
