So question... why isn't Xuberance coming? This would probably be the best prep competition in quite some time if they were coming... afraid the undefeated streak might come to an end? ;) *pure sarcasm i swear*

That's a good question. Traditionally Xhilaration has gone to their last competition of the year without Xuberance, but that "tradition" - if you can call it that - started when Xhilaration would travel for the last comp (Sioux City, Westwood, and Omaha come to mind). Now that they are staying in Cedar Rapids... it would make a lot of sense to have Xuberance come along too!

Protege's show at Kennedy was phenomenal (even though it was and exhibition). I think Xuberance and Protege should hardly be considered prep groups. They are certainly varsity material. I would say they have just as good of a shot at making finals as anybody does.

Davenport North did beat Protege at Great River, and Milton did beat Protege at Viterbo. I just feel like either of those two varsity are too strong for Protege to make it in, especially since they are going before lunch. But I'm... rarely (can't say never anymore )... ever right in my predictions so Protege can definitely prove me wrong. This reminds me so much of Fort Atkinson, where there were 9 or 10 groups that could make finals. It's gonna be SUPER close for this one! #veryexcited

I will be here as well watching some of my favorite groups! My predictions

GC: C.R. Kennedy
1RU: C.R. Xavier
2RU: Waukee
3RU: Janesville Craig
4RU: Mundelein
5RU: C.R. Kennedy Protege
6RU: Benton

Happiness's sound is just phenomenal. I saw them before and after their loss of members and the only thing that changed was the volume; the quality of the sound is still chilling. Xavier's show is extremely good this year though. I am a really big fan of their closer costumes I'm not familiar with the other groups from this year but I have seen them in past years and I know that this will be a tooth-and-nail finals. I could honestly see Xavier getting a sweep here too; it all depends on the performance.

Something should be said about Protege though- I went to Viterbo 101 to see Xavier and Happiness this year but was disappointed when I realized Happiness wasn't returning, only Protege was. They had a major lapse in their closer which really subtracted points (I'm guessing) but since then they have increased tenfold. I am really excited to see them again after Great River, because if it were up to me they would have made finals there. They are no doubt a varsity group, even if their actual division says otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in finals either and even placing higher than the Auditorium winner, as they have beat varsity groups before.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

I had thought that I was going to be able to be there for this one, but it's not turning out that way. I will be in St. Louis.

I'm so putting my vote on Xavier (vocals) and Kennedy in second with choreo, it took our best at Benton to beat Xavier and I think they've got a lot to fight for, Xavier is gonna bring it and I think they've got this one

What about Kennedy? You beat Xavier there too... Didn't that take your best? It's really just gonna come down to the judges and how they view the shows. Personally I feel like Waukee could take this one if they have a fun show. Janesville Craig should do very well here too. I would give the edge to Happiness since Momentum was able to beat Xavier in day at Kennedy and never beat Happiness. We'll see though... The acoustics in the gym may not favor Happiness since they are smaller now. The Adler was a great venue for their sound. We'll see about Saturday. But that can go for Xavier too. This is gonna be an intense competition.

And I am VERY sad to see that McKinley won't be performing in the morning... i would love to see that show again... i couldn't believe i was watching a middle school group last week at Kennedy, better then some prep groups i had seen!

Agreed. I'm not sure why they are not. You could go to Jefferson's competition the night before. I'm sure they'll be there (as always). Also Xavier's competition's finals is going to be on channel 9.2 sometime.

So there are 7 finalists? Haha I'm so confused!

They take the top group from the aud. and they compete with the top 6 groups in the gym

I think there is a very strong possibility I'll be at this one now from about noon through finals. I'm gonna be by myself though, so I might try to barnacle myself onto a group of SCC'ers if I can find any.

I did forget to put a 6RU, but that's mostly cuz I haven't seen any of those groups. Based on last year's shows I would put Sumner-Fredericksburg at 6RU. I absolutely loved their show last year... It was really great! I have heard Benton isn't as good this year as last, but again I haven't seen the show. SF also almost beat Davenport West here last year.
