Teays Valley- Wow. This was the third competition that I had seen your show at, and while you fell a little short for me in prelims, your finals performance showed me the Teays Valley that I'm used to seeing. It was an entirely different show. Vocals were fantastic and the choreo was much tighter. Also, your ballad soloist has been incredible every time I've seen your show- I don't know what his name is(if anyone knows, feel free to tell me because he deserves credit), but he's really really talented. Great job guys, you should be proud!

The director said it will cost about $15,000 more- that's about $170 each kid.

Wow, that's a serious strain on the the budget. Hope everything worked out for you guys.

The prelims order was

Twinsburg-Teays tie.

The finals order was
Wheaton
Totino
Fairfield
Waconia
Twinsburg
Teays

Not trying to start a fight, but there was no tie at the end of prelims. Twinsburg edged out Teays by just a few points. After the scoring problem was corrected thats how it played out.

Weren't they in 4th?

No.

They wouldn't have been allowed to perform because, technically, after the scoring error was fixed, they were in sixth place, and there were only supposed to be five groups in finals.

Why wouldn't they have been allowed to perform? It was Twinsburg that jumped in there.

Still, I'm happy that all six groups were able to perform; all those watching got a little more bang for their buck, and the competition didn't drag out all that long.

A shout-out to my new Buffalo Grove friends, Lexie, Jordan, Jessica, and Brian, that we met in the Subway. You guys were so nice, it was amazing getting to meet you.
Also, to the reps from Twinsburg and Fairfield and Waconia, waiting backstage was easier because of you guys. Dancing to that music was tons of fun!

Teays- I am glad you were allowed to perform because I felt this competition should have had 6 finalists in the first place. night and day difference between finals and day performance. It just had energy and brought in my attention. I liked the show, the "novelty" was a bit awkward for me... just cause i was confused. Congrats on showing you belonged to perform tho, because i felt like you did that!

Congrats to all the groups on a wonderful day of show choir! Got to see some groups I haven't ever seen before...and I was freaking out about seeing Wheaton live. It was amazing! Especially the opener. Twins burg had a reaaaally cool show too...it was very different and ironic and had many moments that made the audience laugh. Very entertaining! Everyone was very good. If anybody has any information on if the 3ru group goes to Indianapolis as well, please do share congrats to everyone again!

it was very nice to talk to you, I wish i could have talked more!

Oh wow that's crazy. And that could put a fairly big strain on their budget. Good luck to them getting home! Although I bet they are having a fun time in Chicago.... Might be a little cold for them lol.

I would doubt it happened to anyone else just because most of the choirs came from fairly close by. West Allegheny was the farthest, besides Eldorado, but they seemed to be a smaller choir from the pics I've seen, so it was probably cheaper for them to drive. Plus that's still not too incredibly far from Chicago/Wisconsin :-P

what a wonderful day! I had such a great time at this competition!
best part of the day (as an observer)- Chad Alexander refering to the new computerized scoring system and how it would eliminate scoring errors and such and then turns out something was read wrong or inputed wrong which led to a scoring error. As a parent or student from either group i 100% understand frustration from it, I just found it ironic and funny.

Like adam said it was very much like last year where the day round was very uninspiring. i didn't walk away after day round going "this group blew me away"

this is how i felt after the day round how it would go

Totino Grace
Wheaton
Fairfield
Waconia
Twinsburg
(with having teays in 6th)

Vocals-Totino
Choreo- Wheaton

finals tho every group just BROUGHT it. I'm going to just give thoughts in order of how finals went

Wheaton- Wow, IN love with the show. the opener was just genius, i loved the guys starting on stage, added a lot of flare and makes you say "hey, look at the guys" which a lot of groups are scared to do. The choreography was just impeccable and fun! The ballad is one of my favorites of the year. it was brilliant and beautiful.

Totino- hands down the best i've seen you this year. It was wonderful. I find myself losing focus on the show during the 2nd song. I love your opener, i have it stuck in my head and have had it stuck since day round. I personally love your vocals! just beautiful! I knew finals was going to be super close between you and wheaton and either way it went i was going to leave knowing the best groups were up there!

Fairfield- what a show for the first time ever seeing you. I LOVE the theme of the show. Amazing openers was just a theme for this competition. i loved the vocals and choreograph that you guys have! There were some kids in your choir i couldn't take my eyes off of, it was just beautiful! but amazing opener! I loved the ballad soloists!

Waconia- AW shoot. I love watching you kids perform. in my mind you are some of the most genuine performing kids! i could tell you wanted this, and to go places with your show. every one of you was just killing it up there. The choreography was just SO clean, vocals were SO good. I just love the show. There were some intense groups, and i feel like you competed very well against them. Kevin Chase is a wonderful choreographer and cares so much about you kids and it could tell with how you performed this show. like i said earlier- your show is that one that I feel like every kid would love to perform. Every song was placed very well, every soloist was beyond amazing (ballad soloist... I <3 you)

Twinsburg- I was left scratching my head after day round. I wanted to like it, but I just didn't feel it. Your finals performance was just spectacular. i loved it. It was very touching, and knowing the message just made it all that better to me. there is a few things i wished a bit different about the show, that i feel could have made it just that much better. I wish Born This Way was your closer. I feel like it just brings the show to a close and makes you go "here is our story about being different and here are songs to portray how you feel about us, but I am proud of who I am going to embrace it" as the closer. make sense? I'm kind of rambling, but just touching!

Teays- I am glad you were allowed to perform because I felt this competition should have had 6 finalists in the first place. night and day difference between finals and day performance. It just had energy and brought in my attention. I liked the show, the "novelty" was a bit awkward for me... just cause i was confused. Congrats on showing you belonged to perform tho, because i felt like you did that!

in finals i felt it would go:
Wheaton
Totino
Fairfield
waconia
twinsburg
teays

So yay for actually being right about something this year! lol.
Just a VERY good day to watch show choir and SO glad to have watched these performances!

If anyone is still in Chicago you should find out where the Eldorado choirs are staying- they got stuck there in all this Southwest Airlines craziness. They don't get to go home until Tuesday. Did this happen to anyone else?
