WHAT AN AMAZING DAY.
The money i spent was so worth just sitting there and watching amazing choir after amazing choir.

I had an amazing time with everyone i saw, chatted with and just every group that performed.

One thing before i start- I was RUDELY treated by a parent of a group when I gave a compliment to a performing group I do not appreciate that at all. There are some ways to handle your self as a performer but also as an adult. It was very offensive and there was no reason for an adult to use language and hand gestures twords a kid, or another adult. That reflects very negatively on your choir and you would be upset at your kid for doing that to an adult, don't do the same thing. I just hope every parent and student realizes there are ways to handle yourself.

But I also met 3 amazing waconia parents and a very sweet Bloomington Kennedy parent. And of course the beautiful amazing Totino Grace mothers!
And very nice to meet Stephen Todd ! Love your work!

AND CECE AND MARGAUX YOU TWO ARE SO CUTE AND SWEET AND AMAZING AND I HAD A BLAST TALKING TO YOU FOR LIKE AN HOUR AFTER FINALS.... wish i could have sat with you.. i am sure we would had a blast.

And KEVIN - such a great guy it was a blast sitting with you during finals see you at MoShow and FAME!

My order-
GC: Clinton (sweep)
1st RU: Mitchell
2nd RU: Waconia
3rd RU: Hastings
4th RU: Bemidji
5th RU: Bloomington Kennedy

************MY OPINION ONLY IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH IT PM ME*******************

I feel like 3 choirs got jipped here. Waconia, Mitchell and Clinton.
You may ask why I say clinton but I truly believe they were the best singing choir of the day. I understood everything, it was GREAT sound and just the best. I strongly don't agree with the results that came from out of the day, but that is why its show choir!

Clinton- I must say, i will always have "I drove all night" in my head when i watch this group perform from when i saw it live. I like the show design, i love the soloists and just love the concept. I kind of wish the soloist wasn't out there for so long, don't get me wrong she was great just lost my attention a bit. If you took a score sheet and put it into a choir you get Clinton. I loved the choreography, it was hella clean! The guys song was one of my favorites of the year, how ever I wish the chains didn't go on the whole time, took a bit away from the performance. and the angels that come out at the end, i wish you were in like... FULL costume instead of just the wings. That was you stood out more... every one of you that i said 'hi" to were so sweet and nice, and I finally got to ask if I sound like i have an accent to them. Life dream come true

Mitchell- To me this was the best show of the day. your day round left a weird taste in my mouth hoping for more. Your finals performance I KNEW you had top 2 spot locked in. The show was a journey that i personally never have been on. The opener is my favorite of the year. It was FUN and really clean. Stephen gives you amazing stuff! The transition between the opener thru the ballad to the 3rd song was just... WOW. Its not a show to easily describe you have to watch for yourself. My only wish was the closer costumes for the girls detached at some point and you just would ROCK it ... miss seeing some of the level choreography. But I think you should have been top 2 hands down.

Waconia- I think you got the most screwed. I'll say it. Your show design is the show that most show choir kids want. it was BRILLIANT. I love the costumes, the energy the band... just everything. Kevin did wonders for your group and I am so glad to see this wonderful product. You had top 3 vocals and top 3 choreography. NO WAY YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN 5th... I am sorry i just don't see it. Start to finish i was captured by the show.I was the crazy kid down at your home room after final awards were announced. And it was VERY great to meet Mr. Olson! can't wait to see you at FAME

Hastings- Congrats on your placement... how ever I personally DO NOT agree with having you in 2nd OR with best vocals. The tone is good, but to me there were 3 better shows (choreography and vocals) then yourself. Obviously I am not a judge so all what i am saying is opinion from what i've seen from this competition. The guys song is the highlight of the show, outside of that to me its just... forgetable. I've seen it 3 times and that is all i can remember from the show.

Bloomington Jefferson- I was excited to see you guys cause you were one of the groups i hadn't seen in a few years. Overall i liked the show, but I felt like just on this particular day it wasn't brought like every other group there. The song choices were good but the show design lacked for me, i liked the opener and i LOVED THE BALLAD and the soloist, she was so super good. My big problem with the show was the awkward dead space, and not only did it happen once... it happened twice, and the 2nd time was (in my opinion) pointless especially with the guys on;y changing into a coat jacket. If you don't want them to sing, just have them out there dancing. Your male soloist at the start was AWESOME! i totally had him winning best male soloist out of the day.

Janesville- I really like the show, each song in itself if very good. How ever... i feel like it is on one level the whole time and that is "intense". You put SO MUCH ENERGY into the show, and i respect and understand how much effort is put into it but I feel like it needs some soft moments to give everyone a chance to breathe. Maybe vocals suffered a tad from it. I love the choreography that Ben gives you guys and the arraignments of the show was great! I think i like the opener the most, you guys do lady gaga very well. can't wait to see you guys at MoShow this coming weekend!

Bloomington Kennedy- LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER THEN LINN-MAR! wow. I really like your guys' opener. The costumes are so freaking cute i want the black and white ones! I like where the show starts out and appreciate something different! I am not a fan of dark shows but think it could have been really good if it stayed on the darker side. I really liked the ballad and no good deed too! I am just so impressed with where this show came from when i last saw it and congrats on making finals at such a tight competition!

Bemidji- I don't like the straight hair. You girls are SOOOOOO wonderful at curling your hair, its an art and you guys have it perfected. I wish you would have curled it for the show! I love the energy that bemidji brings to every performance. Great job on staying on beat with your technical issues! I wish the closer choreography was a tad bit faster. I've seen april choreo done fast with linn-mar and I feel like it is most effective that way. Bemidji constantly gives the best theme shows around, i can honestly say that they stay true to what the theme is but not SO LITERAL to make you dislike it. Great job on your performance here.

What he said.

Sorry, but there is no way Bemidji could place over Hastings, if the judging was good and fair.

i literally just wrote a paragraph for every show. it took me atleast 45 minutes. i hit post and it was gone. i want to cry. no way i'm writing that again.

quick notes-
so happy to see rig in finals. love you.
waconia, i love you.
clinton, i want to be you and respect you so much.
mitchell, i understand the obsession with you. so innovative.

i feel odd doing this. i know i shouldn't. and i am terrified that mr. olson is gonna text me and tell me it's inappropriate but i feel the need to share my feelings about placings. i have NO intention of discrediting, dishonoring or disrespecting ANY groups. beyond that- my opinions are my OWN and do NOT reflect the views of waconia. going into finals, i had it like this:

GC CLINTON (BC)
1RU MITCHEL (BV)
2RU WACONIA
3RU BEMIDJI
4RU HASTINGS
5RU RIG

and it was only cemented after finals. so i'm a bit confused. and honestly, no disrespect to anyone, it's just the way i saw it playing out. the thing it comes down to though? what flavor you like. i like in your face, high energy, jazz hands, solid choral sound and classic but at the same innovative costuming. i look for people who love what their doing, more than anything. i look for people who would rather perform than win a trophy. i look for people who are hungry. that's what i grew up watching, so naturally that's where my inclinations lead me. and please, when you read this- realize that i wrote paragraphs about how i loved EVERY show. you are all beautiful performers and i love that we are all connected by this thing that moves our soul in a similar motion, music.

i loved meeting everyone i did. you are all great. shout out to rices90 who made me laugh so hard, considering when she came up it was a pile of SCC kiddies and i was telling them how people keep recognizing me from SCC. haha. but it was great to meet you (:

totino, thanks for a great day. i wrote a beautiful, well thought out paragraph about how i love you but uh... tough luck? and good luck in your endeavors this season.

beyond all of this, i now want to go to fame chicago. stop telling me to go. cough cough ana, big o, tons of show choir parents and kids. gosh, i want to go so bad. hahaha. oh and! mr.olson! if you want me to ride the bus, i gladly will. pahahahaha.

oh! i'll post the link to photos later! i took tons.

Yesterday was such a fun day!! We had some fantasticccc hosts and a sweet room! The food at this competition was absolutely unable to compete with, and the parents and helpers were all so nice. lots of down time during the day, which was fun to meet people and just hang out with my group

I didnt get to see everyone but i just kinda wanna talk soooo

Clinton- I sat with three of your boys at lunch, so cute and so nice!! like everyone else, totally in love with the accents. and you were so excited about MOA! it was fun. WOW your show. I sat up front on the floor so you dont always get the best view or sound for the show, but even there you guys were sooooooo so insanely incredible. your ballad gave me chills and i literally did not stop smilling through the whole show, ESPECIALLY everytime i saw a new pairs of those ridiculously amazing heels. agh. "yall" are incredible ;) some of the nicest kids ever!

Hastings- Shoutout to Lewis, Sean, and Andrew. and congrats to Andrew on best soloist!!! favorite part of the whole show, its so adorable. I love your closer...so much energy and i love watching lewis work it front and center! the drums and flags and everythign add to the picture and intensity as well.

Bemidji- havent seen your show yet before last night, i realyl liked the theme and the opening dresses! the hair straight worked really well too, one of the first things i noticed as well haha. good job last night!

Mitchell- STILL didnt get to see you guys ughhhhh but i heard nothign but AMAZING things!!! i wanna see you so bad, i saw your dresses with the arm attatchment thingies and they were so hot. get your show up on youtube! hehe

Anywayssss those were the only ones i really got to see but overall it was a very fun day and the busrides to and from were the best of our entire season haha. Thanks totino!

Connection - I don't know why you made the changes you did, but I honestly didn't like them. I was a big fan of your show, and it was disappointing to see so many changes. You still performed great, and a shout out to Jessica Meyers on her award.
.

We made changes that were suggested by our choreographer and director to fill some dead space. We had a lull in our show and made changes to keep energy up but, thank you very much for watching us and for the shout out

ahhh! i def have tons of notes, but it's two am and i'm on my phone. and i'm in a Jimmy johns coma. anyways, i mainly want to say thanks to totino for such a wonderful day. you kids are fantastic. beyond that, i loved meeting people today! my fave. but it makes me want to go to fame chicago. SOMEONE, PLEASE! STOP ME. haha. (:

oh, quick note. i heard the Clinton kids read the forums? your show was fantastic. i will admit that i wasn't it's biggest fan when i watched it online but omg in person! you are all so sweeet! and you conduct yourselves with such class.

but enough gushing for now. who knows how long my post will be tomorrow.... haha (:

p.s. Margx and i missed Miley hosting SNL tonight for this competition. if you know us, that's a big sacrifice. so never doubt our love, our words or the smiles on our faces as we view each and every single performer when their on that stage! (:

RIG: I LOVE your ballad, a couple of us have been singing it since we got back to the u of m, soo beautiful and strong. Your show has improved miles since I saw yall at Eau Claire. Loved every second of it. The girls all around us went nuts for the MJ soloist Im really glad you made it into finals, I needed to see the whole show again.

Bemidji: I also noticed that you changed your hair right away, when you walked across the stage, interesting to see that. I just want to say I love how your director comes up with such fun and entertaining themed shows. Yall are flawless with the choreo, its so much fun to watch it, and your vocals are gorgeous as well. Favorite choreography moments happened in the opener.

Hastings: Fantastic job tonight, we all loved the big poofs. Your show is extremely entertaining to watch/listen. The finals performance was stellar, all the judges were rockin out to "the rally", that song just gets everyone excited, I personally don't really like the show all that much, but you pull it off.

Mitchell: I havent seen yall since hastings 2008, and wow I was BLOWN away with your vocals and choreo. The finals performance was much stronger than the prelims, the choreo was spot on and very precise. Your costumes are probably the coolest I have seen this year, the girls shoes, the girls closer dresses ( very cool idea with the sleeves, although it limited the choreo, I still enjoyed it) (all the dresses to be honest) guys closer outfits. The face was probably my favorite song in the show, the opening choreo for it into the ballad, then back into the choreo... genius. I love stephen's choreo. You guys definitely were one of the strongest choirs here. The basses and altos during the ballad were insane, so powerful, sounded amazing. I really did think that either yall or clinton had the best vocals of the day, but thats just my opinion. Congrats on Best Band!!! I met a couple of you, and you were both really nice (red head and the male ballad soloist both were sitting behind the judges stand with the UNL people!)

Waconia: I love your vocals, choreo, the pictures that are created throughout the entire show. You guys were amazing tonight, both performances were great, finals had so much energy in it, and the best part was at the end of the bow you guys knew you gave a FANTASTIC show, and you could tell by the high fives, big smiles and the jumping for joy that was onstage.

Clinton..... I am so glad I have finally got to see you perform. You all are such inspirations to the show choir world. You are one of the nicest choirs as a whole, I have ever seen/met. The show was flawless, the choreo was executed to perfection and you gave each move a meaning or a place to start and end, the vocals were strong. I sat there with a stupid grin on my face during the whole show. The costumes were beautiful. Your backdrops were sweet as hell. The two angels at the end stood perfectly still! The ballad was my favorite part of your show, it was so gorgeous, I had chills every time you repeated "Don't let go", and they got stronger with each repetition. I personally thought you had the best choral sound of the day, it was full and rich, and you could hear every part, I don't agree with Hastings receiving best vocals. In living in a world without you, when the girls say "liar liar" its so eery. The soloist in "angels" was fantastic, although in some parts you couldn't tell what she was saying, she had a very beautiful voice, her chest voice was amazing and she had some amazing vocal moments as well. You definitely are a choir you need to see live instead of youtube, you don't get the same feeling on youtube as you do watching something so awesome unfold onstage. Congrats on the GC and best choreo :D

The whole day I will remember forever, one of the best finals I have ever watched. Such a privilege to be there. Everyone at Totino is extremely nice and helping. Your parents really made it into a special day for everyone. Love the vocalmotive fans, you love your choir so much and yall are so loud. The competition was well run (except for being behind in time during finals by a lot, but its still fine) the food was amazing!!!! And to the ticket moms who let us in for being "18 and under" when we weren't.... thank you for saving us a couple bucks....

Bemidji: Love the new hair! It went wonderfully with the show and costumes! Props to the guys during 8675309 for sticking in there and not letting the technological malfunction trip you up! Great costumes as well!!

Mitchell: Wow!!! Wow wowowowow! I. Loved. It. It was so awesome!! Everything about it. Just great!

Riverside: Those sopranos can sing man! Wow! It was great to hear you all lock into this high notes so wonderfully! Great job all soloists and the drums are really cool!

Clinton: Insanely hard choreo done insanely well! Wow! Opening soloists are wonderful. As a matter of fact, all of the soloists were amazing! Have fun at the mall tomorrow (again)!

This was a great one! Here are my very own thoughts, products of my very own opinions, nobody elses. Cool? Alright!

RIG: Due to unfortunate timing on my part, I did not have the pleasure of seeing you live! But I saw you last week at swingin' and you were so great! I heard that you improved tons and tons!

Waconia: This is the best I have ever seen you guys (not saying this is the best you've been, it was just the best I have seen of you personally). Your choreo was very simple, yet effective! You kept my attention the entire time. GO LITTLE MISS POWERS! you rock! As for the entire choral sound, it was so strong. Just make sure it stays very choral amd that the focus isn't on volume, but tonal quality! This wasn't a huge issue at all, just something to keep an ear out for.

Mitchell's show was possibly one of the most amazing shows i've seen in my life. at least in the top 5 favorites FOR SURE. it seriously raptured my soul. they are so. damn. FIERCE.

With that said, though, i really don't think anyone can say much for placements. in reality, all of them could have probably taken GC or any placement for that matter based on a wide variety of aspects. all i know is that GREAT singing, INTENSE choreography, ROCKING bands, and INTERMINABLE amounts of joy and love were surging through that gym tonight from start to finish of finals. i hate to be the cheesy "everyone's a winner" person but....seriously. this was the best finals of my entire life.

I just spent half an hour typing out a a big long response and I guess I got logged out of scc somehow, losing my entire post. Sad day.

ANYWAYS. Thank you SO MUCH to our amazing hosts at Totino-Grace! Every single student, faculty, parent, and volunteer was SO friendly and helpful! It was my first time at your comp as an alumni and spectator and I loved every second. The live feed in the auditorium and cafeteria was much appreciated. It's so nice to be able to take a break and get dinner without missing any shows!

Let me try and gather my thoughts...I can't make any promises that they'll make sense. I HAVE been up since 5 am. However, I didn't perform, so I'll stop complaining.

RIG: You guys!! I'm SO happy you placed so well! I was really impressed by all the improvements you made. Your Alice song is one of my favorites, and I have a crush on the "I want you back" soloist. I think Cece and I probably creeped him out, but he is GREAT. You guys were hungry today, and it definitely paid off. Great job

Bemidji: You changed your hair!! That's the first thing I noticed, but hey. It's me. It's what I do. You guys were excellent, as always. You have some really beautiful vocals, especially at times in the first song and the entire ballad. I really like your vocal style!

Mitchell: I wasn't sure what to expect, other than I heard you guys were really good, but my mind was BLOWN! I loved your show and you're all incredible performers! I was on the edge of my seat (well, the ground) the entire time. Your show kept me actually excited! What a beautiful ballad. Cece and I met some of your parents and they were soooo nice and sweet! A couple of the kids we met were so great too. You're definitely one of my new favorite choirs!

Hastings: I hadn't seen your show yet this year! Your vocals are great (obviously) and your ballad was really pretty. Your novelty parts of the show were really a lot of fun! I'm not normally a huge novelty fan, but you guys did it really well and in a fun way, so you won me over!

Attaché: Beautiful. That is all I have to say. Beautiful vocals and choreography and soloists OBVIOUSLY. I am in love with the girls opener dresses and I want one. I also need a pair of each of the girls' shoes. They are perfect. The show was really captivating. The ballad was so incredibly beautiful. Instrumentals were beautiful. I'm so glad I got to meet some of the Clinton kids, they are such sweethearts and their accents are the greatest. Apparently Cece and I have accents? Pshhhh. Ok, we definitely talk like Minnesotans. AND THE PUPPY. That yorkie was the cutest thing I have ever seen, even cuter than my yorkie! (sorry Eddie! Now I feel bad). Thank you for letting me hold her and squeal, she was so sweet

Power Company: Love You guys were hungry tonight and it really showed. Your finals show was fierce (annmariepowers) and you really stepped up to the plate! When you guys get hungry like that...there are no words! It's SO fun to watch! I tried to be strong, but I think I lasted maybe 2 minutes into the opener before freaking out. But hey. It's your fault. Stop making me so proud. Wait, no don't do that. That would be bad.
I am so proud of each and every one of you! Just remember...placing well is great, and winning is great...but what's truly important is having the time of your life. You guys have SO much fun onstage, it's insane. The true love for performing and the overwhelming joy you feel onstage is what will stay with you for the rest of your life. Believe me, It's been less than a year since I've been in show choir and I still forgot where we placed everywhere. But that feeling of complete happiness onstage is still with me every day I love you all!!

Thanks again TG for another great Spectacular!

Just one question lingers in my mind...what happened to the fresh baked warm cookies?!?!?

I have to say after watching all of the groups in finals, that I absolutely LOVE Mitchell! You were one of my favorites last year and I was not disappointed this year either. Your show is so entertaining and fun to watch and the vocals and choreography are phenomenal!

I loved seeing Attache live-WOW! Your choreopgraphy was AMAZING! It was so clean and so well executed. It will be fun to see you in Tennessee in just a few short weeks! It's also fun to see another "April" group live!

Congratulations to Hastings-you really do have amazing vocals. Your show is a lot of fun this year and the nerd number and the MN girls song are a hoot! I also enjoy the drum line part of your show. It's very entertaining!

Waconia...I want you to know how truly special you are. I have never seen you look better, and even though the results were not what you may have hoped for-I have to say I am the most impressed by your group-the energy you bring to the stage leaves me exhausted! I am so impressed with your vocals and your soloists are some of the best I've seen. Be proud of the job you do-in such a tough competition, your choreography is so clean and so entertaining! (And I got to meet Cecelia!)

I hope everyone had a great time-thanks for coming to the TG Spectacular!

It's true. I thought Mitchell and Hastings were better than Clinton. I truly honeslty unbiasedly did. Clinton's show was boring and their choreography was easy. Mitchell and Hastings sang just as well as Clinton did but they had a far more entertaining show and more difficult choreography. Heres how I had it:

GC: Mitchell (BC)
1RU: Hastings (BV)
2RU: Clinton

The rest turned out how I thought it would. Again, no bitterness at all, I just think that Clinton's name really helped them out here. All the groups were great though. I would have hated to be a judge.

YES. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. but no matter, it was still AMAAAAAAZING.

best finals of my life. no jokes.
