In an attempt to add some life to this topic since everyone's already made predictions, and this competition is four days away and it doesn't seem like this forum is going anywhere, I propose a few questions...

1. Out of the groups performing here this weekend, which ones are your favorites and why? Please try sticking to only ones you've seen live, and only choirs you are not associated with. Of course you love your own group.
2. Which group are you most excited to see and why?

4. From groups you've seen live, what sort of improvements or changes do you look forward to seeing this weekend? Be specific, please.

\

1. I LOVE Hastings and Power Company's shows. Also RIG. Riversidee has such a fun show this year and Power Company just blows me away every time I see it.

2. I'm most excited to see Riverside again and RIG. I haven't seen RIG up close but, I had to watch them from our jv group's homeroom last weekend at Hastings because the auditorium was so packed. Riverside's closer is so fun and I look forward to it every year but the drumline and flags at the end are just amazing.

3. I guess that I'm not really looking for changes or improvements but, I know that RIG constantly steps it up throughout the season!!!

Good luck this weekend!

MY OPINION (biases not excluded and not taking into account anything really. Lol. Like judges, reputations, or history. This is more of a "Wow! Wouldn't that be interesting if that happened" prediction. Hehe)
Gc: The Current (waconia prep)
1rst RU: Company of Singers (performing in ex.)
2nd RU: Clinton's Band
3rd RU: Clinton
4th RU: A group of over excited and curious parents who did an improv number during lunch break...
5th RU: Hastings ( like I said, no biases excluded. They are, after all, my favorites. ;)

Vocals: The audience
Choreo: April Todd (a fictional character in my imagination)
Band: Green Day

Ok so I normally don't make predictions for competitions that include my high school, let alone that much in general, so for this one I will make two predictions:

MY OPINION (biases not excluded and not taking into account anything really. Lol. Like judges, reputations, or history. This is more of a "Wow! Wouldn't that be interesting if that happened" prediction. Hehe)
Gc: The Current (waconia prep)
1rst RU: Company of Singers (performing in ex.)

ACTUAL PREDICTIONS (The way I think it will go regardless of how I want it to go.)
Gc: Clinton
1st RU: Hastings/Mitchell/Waconia
2nd RU: Mitchell/Hastings/Hastings
3rd RU: Waconia/Waconia/Mitchell
4th RU: Bemidji
5th RU: Bloomington Jefferson

Vocals: Clinton
Choreo: Clinton (Maybe another group like beemidji or Hastings.)
Band: Clinton (B jeff has always had a great band as well!)

They're currently listed in the Open Division. Did you mean moved up to the mixed? If so, do you know the performance order?

The schedule was posted earlier, but I'll be nice and put all the groups into a nice orderly list.

Groups in Order of Performance:

Class A: (Junior Varsity)

Hastings "Divaz"
Bloomington Kennedy "East Side Swingers"
Bloomington Jefferson "Jive"
Hastings "Upstage Revolution"
Bemidji "La Voce Ballo"

Open Class: (Varsity)

Waconia "The Current"
Western Dubuque "5th Avenue"
Bloomington Jefferson "Jefferson Connection"
Janesville Craig "Spotlighters"
Bloomington Kennedy "Rhythm in Gold"
Mitchell "Friend de Coup"
Clinton "Attaché"
Waconia "Power Company"
Hastings "Riverside Company"
Bemidji "Vocalmotive"

I like this question thing Dylan! Very nice!

2.The groups I'm most excited to see are Attache, Mitchell, and Hastings since I haven't seen any of them. Also I'm excited to hang out with Cece and all of *NSYNC. AND I'm ESPECIALLY EXCITED for the COOKIES. COOKIES COOKIES COOKIES COOKIES. And cheesecake. I'll be eating my body weight in pasta and desserts Saturday.

I think the SCC/VIP area also needs comfy chairs. And snacks.
I'm soooo excited! And excited to see all the alumni coming back for this one

COOKIES COOKIES COOKIES COOKIES.
and curly fries! and chicken tenders! totino always has the best food.
the scc/ vip needs puppies too, like the ones you can rent for a day.
you know, so we can play with them between groups. (i'm totally normal.)
another suggestion, maybe a personal secretary for each of us to record our notes to post on scc.

on a serious note, i get more and more excited for this competition every day.
it'll be the last one i'm attending of the season, so i'll be living it up!
i'm so excited to see all the SCC kiddies.

I like this question thing Dylan! Very nice!

1. It's hard for me to say who's my favorite out of the groups performing this weekend. I haven't seen a big chunk of them so I'll have to wait until after to make my decision haha.

3. For changes and improvements, I think it'll be interesting to see if Jefferson changes anything. I know between seeing them in Eau Claire and at Star Power, I noticed a lot of changes and they seemed to have gotten even better by Waconia. Even though it's normal for groups to improve, they really went the extra mile. I think it'll be interesting to see how everyone's ongoing improvements will stack up this weekend. I'm also interested to see if Current has made any extra strides or changes since they've competed more in open class and in preparation for this comp!

I think the SCC/VIP area also needs comfy chairs. And snacks.
I'm soooo excited! And excited to see all the alumni coming back for this one

The Current has been moved up to Open Class with the Varsity groups.

I was only looking to inform the SCC community of the change, and maybe see The Current be moved in the schedule at the top of the page.

They're currently listed in the Open Division. Did you mean moved up to the mixed? If so, do you know the performance order?

CRAZY BLIND PREDICTIONS:

*Probably Clinton sweep. Except Waconia's band does seem to be doing quite well. They have only lost BB to Totino and their JV.

This made me laugh SO hard.

Also, please note, I didn't add the comment about The Current to this forum with either a negative or positive context. I wasn't looking for a debate or discussion. Not that you're comments aren't allowed, I would just like to clear up my motives a little bit. I was only looking to inform the SCC community of the change, and maybe see The Current be moved in the schedule at the top of the page.

I agree with this decision. I know this was discussed on the Hastings page, but I think that all students should perform in ONLY the group they were assigned to based on auditions. Consider the following hypathetic situation...
I am a student at John doe academy(not real) and I made the junior varsity show choir. I am a sophomore, so I still have plenty of time to grow and make the varsity group, but for now, I am going to excel in my choir and hopefully dominate the junior varsity class. We arrive at our first competition of the season and I pumped, bit then I realize that there is a "jv" group competing against me that has students who were good enough to make their schools varsity group. This strips them completely of their ability to compete in exactly the same class as ours because they aren't on the same level as us given the fact that part of their choir consists of seniors who have competed at a varsity level for two years.

That sure gives them a fair shot at winning or placing as well as we would in an entire mass of competing jv kids. NOT!! I'm sorry, but I think that kids want to compete as well as "just" performing. That is what competitions are for. To mark your growth and success as a group throughout the season, and against othe choirs of your same caliber. How is a group supposed to know where they stand and how they are doing if they are randomly placed against a choir with ten varsity kids in it?

This is just my opinion and not that of my above stated affiliate choir.

Agree!
I just had a long talk with the waconia prep last night, and they def. understand and respect the decision that was made! I still think in the future that there should be no crossover kids, in any group whether mixed or single gender, in order to make it fair! Some people say well, if it's a single gender group then they can be in prep still... but that would be like me taking 10-15 of the Bemidji Vocalmotive girls and putting them in La Voce Ballo, and them competing against other prep groups as well... def not fair to the other groups who are actually were placed as a prep group!

We could have easily taken out the 5 crossover guys in order for the rest of the prep kids to actually compete in prep! but they understand its about the experience and getting more out of show choir than just trying to win a competition! very proud of the kids, they have dealt with some situations this year that they have come out of as stronger people and very mature kids!!!

Good luck to all the groups competing at Totino Grace this weekend!!! ITS GONNA BE A BLAST!!!
