Does ICH still have that massive combo with all the strings? In 2006 we passed them in the hall at Waconia, and they were like an army of their own... lol

They have a smaller combo this year, only 17 members, but there are strings within the ensemble. Back when we were in school, they ritualistically had 24-27 members in their combo...That's at least tactical support if not the entire army.

Damon and Jarad are very complimentary in their styles. The work they've done this year for IC High was magnificent, easily the best visually I've ever seen them.

Yeah, I think they started working on FC's numbers together in 2009, I think that was 3 years after Jarad started choreographing High Voltage at their birth in 2006

and Damon Brown

I think it's a really good combination. I'm starting to love their visuals.

I know I could easily look this up, but I'm lazy. Who choreographs for FC? Jarad Voss?

I think with these rankings the whole "schedule screwed FC" argument can be put to rest considering that they are higher than Ankeny. That argument is invalid against Omaha Westside too considering they went after Ankeny, Franklin Central, and Davenport Central.

Plus the fact that Omaha Westside always has some of the best vocals in the nation

I was pretty much saying that from what I've seen, I would be surprised if FC was not out in front in prelims, and if not, it would probably be due to their prelims spot. I don't think that has been proven wrong lol Omaha West got the best spot, and they have the best score. Whether or not that is due to their performance, or logistics is yet to be seen.

I love the way ATSC sings, and I'm not surprised at them getting a BV for the day round, but from videos I've seen, I think FC can pull out a win in the evening.

Ankeny did surprise me with the choreo win, I thought that would go to FC, and that their other scores would have them out in front by finals.

That's why I love show choir though. Especially now at the end of the year, all these groups have a lot to prove going into this finals, and I'm sure all three groups will step it up and provide a show completely unlike what the audience got this afternoon.

Good Luck All!

I really can't express how proud of these groups I am. Iowa/almost Iowa domination. And especially for Westwood. This school has 600 students in K-12. But with the help of the amazing long time veteran Tom Gerking they are a power year in and year out. Good luck to all my friends from Westwood, Westside, and Ankeny. I'll be texting you all throughout the night

Can't be an argument when only one person brings it up.

Finalists were pretty clear at this one, at least from my perspective, as were captions. I have not seen any points at all but I'm guessing it has to be pretty close between ATSC and Ankeny but I'm not sure which would be ahead of the other. Really looking forward to finals.

Well.. So far I'm 100% on predicting finalists. I want to throw out a huge congratulations to Westwood! I was the first person who predicted then in finals and they are! They are a very not well known small 2A group from NW Iowa, but they perform with all their hearts! Their kids are great and their parents are super awesome. If you have a chance, go talk to some of them. You won't regret it.

And of course congrats to Westside, Ankeny, and Davenport Central! Way to represent Iowa/Almost-Iowa!

Good luck to everyone in finals!

Yeah, davenport central, not west.

Finalists:
(In performance order)
Westwood
Ankeny
Omaha Westside
Franklin Central
Davenport Central

BV: Omaha Westside
BC: Ankeny

Totally expected that from the prelims order.

Step it up Singers...

I guess it could be very possible that FC's best show of the year was at their invitational or Pike, and Ankeny and ATSC have just become the better choirs at this event.

I'm excited and nervous for all three of the groups just mentioned

Things are going well here at universal. Davenport West just got off stage and Lester and Ankeny are loading the stage. I have seen every mixed varsity except tarpon (lunch ran long). Out of those, Franklin Central was pretty clearly the best, followed by davenport central. Then westwood, then manchester, then churubusco then sumrall. In my opion that is. 2 more to go!

Going to assume you meant Central?
