It may be irritating, but I can still see the choir just fine when people are hand waving. I cannot, however, hear the choir when the far more irritating crowd noise is covering up the choir. For the hand waving to be equally obnoxious as the crowd noise, 20 or 30 hand wavers would have to get up on the stage and stand right in front of the performers.

I totally agree with you. Is it better to deal with "annoying" for 30 seconds at a time, or deal with "I can't hear a word, and it was right in the middle of a crescendo and key change, that's probably something they wanted to showcase and make a moment of... Sad" for over half the freaking show?

I'd rather deal with a BILLION little moths, than not be able to hear vocals because of screaming girls...

NO! I AM NOT LETTING THIS SLIDE!

Do not believe Jay. He was at Mo-Show while I was at Wheaton and told him and the others about the fanning. I started doing it at FAME Chicago and they picked it up from ME. The only truth in his post is that they started doing it in Iowa this year.

I think it's a great idea. Why ruin moments in the show with stupid applause and mindless cheering?

But there is the video of their performance Taylor. And hell I was not sober that entire weekend so you probably are right. Trey..... lol.

And by started in Iowa, it's really just me and Chris and Nick and you that do it lol.

It looked goofy the first time I saw it, but it is actually quite awesome. Instead of ruining the music with applause, they clap silently. I HATE, HATE, HATE when the crowd loudly applauds a solo when the choir is still singing. Let them sing. Applaud the soloist when the song is completely done, or during the dance breaks.

well i asked somebody about it at our competition and they are actually cooling down the fire because they are too hot (good)

You can't say that Carmel and CG's choreography isn't hard because it's different than yours.

A lot of choreography is different and that's not why. For instance, twinsburg has a completely different show that like everybody but it was very enjoyable to watch an they also had really good clean choreography at parts in their show (a lot of standing also). But Indiana in general seems to be very vocal based and have choreo that doesn't affect their vocals as much. They have a lot less steps in general. If you are talking about choreo I LIKE that would be Randy sages choreo. He choreographs our second number and closer, Fairfields show, and some of Burbank (their hardest choreo). Ohio is more choreography based and I love that

??? why
What Evan and Josh said.

Also, that video pretty much sums it up. It's like a hundred little moths flying around in the audience, completely distracting from the show. I want to go spray them all with Raid.

I saw the fanning from Carmel's performance at Wheaton last year, and I started it in Iowa this year It's catching on super quick. I love it. Though I also fan when there is something amazing happening onstage, and usually I cheer at the same time or gay gasp or something.

I can't speak for Häakon, but for me it is very distracting and puts the entirety of the audience's focus on the few people that are doing it. Feels like they're trying to make it about themselves instead of the performers.

??? why

I was more focused on the "fanning" then the actual ballad, which took the special thing of watching Carmel perform away. I found it extremely annoying and sitting in the back, thats all you could see was hands fly up into the air and start to wave. Example This is just my thought on the matter, other people might like it, I personally don't. I think I saw CR Prairie do it at Classic this year it also might have happened at Logan's comp with CR Kennedy, I can't remember for sure though.

I wanted to break wrists by the time finals came around...
There are so many times that I wanted to go to someone that is doing it and do it to their face.

Slapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslapslap. I have a feeling that would put an end to it. But I haven't been bold enough to try it. Apparently slapping people repeatedly is frowned upon. I'm not sure why.

Lol, see? we'd have fun at a competition even though we're both kinda B itchy.., then get shmammered at a good drag show lol.

I fan and shout like I got the spirit. Of course I always have an actual fan as well, Just like Karl Lagerfeld. "Andre... I need a fan darling..."

Anyone like Margaret Cho?
