You be the judge.
The choreo at 1:50 should have been changed, other than that, I don't see an issue with the number. I see incredibly well done choreography that makes these girls look like women, and if that's the issue, then I don't understand what the purpose of show choir is. Are they supposed to never grow up and perform as adults???
Just as someone else said, the booms were picking up EVERYTHING and the choir mics did nothing. Vocals are impossible to discern, and if I've EVER really agreed with Adam saying it's impossible to judge a choir off of youtube, it's now. On one hand, I hear brief moments of brilliance, where I still see and hear that national level choir, but because of the recording, a lot of it sounds like a total mess.
I'm not a fan of the show design, but I LOVE the choreography, and I don't think I've ever seen CG do anything that would compare visually, so I'm almost positive that that one moment in Be Italian, lost you that trophy. because the rest of it was stunning.
The vocals are clearly there, when the ensemble is at the rear of the stage and the booms aren't mucking everything up, the sound you produce is wonderful, but it's nearly impossible to tell from these videos,
Honestly If I were you, I'd take these down until you find a better video of your show. I'll personally come record it in HD if you're doing any more shows lol.
THAT'S the choreography folks are calling risqué???
Here's how we do the same number in California: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omLr0Fuzydg
Ok, here's my two sense about "Be Italian." First off, I feel that we already live in a overly-PC society and all of this Censorship and pointless taking of everything out of context can get out of hand. That being said, having high school ladies clothed in skin-tight leggings and opening and closing their legs while singing about men asking them to "be a lover" really flirts with the line of appropriateness for me. This is my opinion, however, I feel that there can be a difference between acting "sexy" which I believe is appropriate, to a point, and acting "sensual" which I do not believe is. Granted there are music videos out there that push the sensual limits even further than we would like (Rihanna's "S&M," Katy Perry's "Peacock," etc.) but that does not mean that houses of education should allow it, let alone promote it, which (while scaled down vastly) this number clearly does. Now, could it be worse... unfortunately yes, however, as educators, we need to set boundaries on what we have our students perform in public and, it is my philosophy that sexuality and sensuality in High school and younger should be beyond those boundaries.
Take that statement as you will, but it's my philosophy and I'm sticking with it.
That all being said, Carmel sounds beautiful and is choreographed impeccably and more than likely deserved the win.
I think the opener is great minus the shaky solo. Have to take a break unfortunately. Did not enjoy the guys number. Execution is good, I just don't understand the show? So far not what I expected.

omg they seem soooo similar. Awesome job though, your's looks amazing!
It was nice to hear that a couple of parents of CG went out of their way to ask how the carmel parents liked that last number. Classy.
Hey everyone, sorry about this post, it was just a late night dumb thing to say. CG was great, and I loved their set, and lets try to put all of this dumb drama behind us. It was a great competition too, thanks TV you guys were great hosts!
Look man, I'm really not trying to be rude, because I've been a CG fan for a long time Especially since the 2006 show, and the best version of "The Song That Goes Like This" ever... lol. And I love Andy Haines' choreo This years group was pretty obviously not on that level. I'm sure it is a building year and that CG will be right back on top, but I have to agree with him, that what I saw from CG this year, seemed as though they were indeed, covering up a weak show. I think every choir has done it. I don't think I've ever publicly discussed FC's 2007 show for that very reason... lol
Ha I see what you are saying.. I would agree that they are not on the 2006 level...it is very difficult to top that show. lol
That's a little harsh don't you think. I understand it may not be the absolute best show in the world, but I wouldn't say that it is weak in any way shape or form. I have really enjoyed seeing the show grow over this year. It started off a little weak but I know they have worked hard to make it the absolute best they can! Great job Sound System keep up the hard work! Also Congrats to all other groups at this competition and to those that are going to Fame good luck and hope to see you at the Super Bowl.

Since there is all this talk about CG copying old Carmel show's what is CG's set this year?
I would say that it is one of those things that might come close to the line. I am sure most people are fine with it or may not have really thought much about it. But, like with all things that may come close to the line some people that don't like it will make it a much bigger deal than it really is. Sometimes it is hard to make everyone happy lol.
