There is a great possibility that it will be much like a rematch for FAME Chicago. I think we can almost guarantee that Totino Grace, Fairfield, and Wheaton-Warrenville will make finals. Tough groups...what a competition! There has to be a LIVE FEED!
I agree on all parts. (:

if anyone thinks that the groups i listed off shouldnt be there is an idiot. Some of them cant go so then what? exactly. I am jsut pointing out that some of the groups there wouldnt have made it if some other top notch groups COULD go to the qualifiers. . .

this is an underwhelming list. Soem of these people only made it because the fame they went to was not stacked with the best groups. Groups like Lacrosse Logan Grand Central Station, Urbandale, Hastings Riverside Company, Clinton Attache, Buffalo Grove, and Mitchell Friend De Coup should be there but since they didnt compete or couldnt go to a qualifier they cant. thats bull. this whole national thign is a great idea but they are missing out on some pretty big groups. ah well, guess it happens.

It is not an underwhelming list. It's a great list. Considered objectively, this is the best-line up of any competition anywhere this year. I'll let someone else count the total number of Grand Championships won this year by the groups in attendance. I count this as the true national championship. This is what we've wanted for years, and the groups that didn't participate chose not to be there.

do you mean La Crosse Central? La Crosse Logan is "Class Act"... I'm sure you didn't mean logan.

That thing is a sight to behold. I'm serious, it belongs in a museum

Especially your critiques of groups, they're so... honest.

I wonder what they would think if they read your Twitter... (yes, I'm a stalker. Whatever.)

Who's judging?

Mixed
Brea Olinda "Masquerade"*
Carroll "Minstrel Magic"*
Center Grove "Sound System"
Eisenhower "Elite Energy"
Enterprise "Starship"*
Fairfield "Choraliers"*
Jenks "Trojanaires"
Mt. Zion "Swingsations"*
Rock Bridge "City Lights"
South Jones "Company"
Totino Grace "Company of Singers"*
Wheaton Warrenville South "The Classics"*

Womens
Brea Olinda "Spellbound"*
Carroll "Select Sound"*
Center Grove "Debtones"

This really is a good list for this being the first year FAME is sponsoring a National Championship. The prestige should draw more schools next year to FAME events. It ought to be a good competition. I believe it will end up: Wheaton, Totino, and Fairfield going for the GC. Best of luck to all the competing groups. Everyone should be extremely proud of their seasons.

Does anybody on here know what a joke is? I swear it's full of people who don't know anything about the art of sarcasm

So no fame "didn't let them come" as you said. All those other groups didn't go to qualifiers so they thus could not attend

What JWill said was a joke. I find it ridiculous that two people have had to point that out.

Yes, all of those groups wanted to come, but Fame wouldn't let them.

Omaha Westside actually just denied their invitation. I was asking my cousin about it and he said that it is the same weekend as prom and national deca. Also money must be some sort of an issue for them. So no fame "didn't let them come" as you said. All those other groups didn't go to qualifiers so they thus could not attend

Okay, I'm not sure exactly how to word this delicately, but how much (if at all) do you guys think the stylistic preferences of the judges will affect the judges' scores?
The higher the quality the groups, the more personal preference of the judges will come into play. When two or three groups are doing everything well - when they are scoring all 9s and 10s (on a 1-10 scale in this example) there isn't much room for improvement, merely stylistic changes. Judge 1 prefers the bright tone he's hearing (10), judge 2 prefers a darker tone (9). Judge 1 loves tap dancing (10), judge 2 recognizes the terrific execution, but just finds tap dancing passé (9). Both judges think the choir is outstanding, but they have to delineate between the two somehow.

I often think that if the point spread isn't, say, double digits, the outcome should be considered a tie.

Honestly, when all the groups going to a competition are so awesome, there's bound to be people that don't place first. My response? Just deal with it.

I know that isn't the most PC or delicate way to handle it buuuuuuut....think about it. What if you do win? The fact that you beat so many other amazing groups will make it that much sweeter, and you honestly won't be looking at stylistic preferences of judges that may qualify the legitimacy of your victory.

So, in the end my response is to say screw what happens in results; how the dice roll is how the dice roll, and the same can be said of minute differences in judging preferences that influence who out of some amazing groups might win. Just put your heart on the stage and be happy!
