I know that FAME Chicago has been there for so long, but wouldn't having the National Championship make more sense to have in Chicago than Indy? At least based on the airport and whatnot, maybe having FAME Indy be a regional qualifier, and FAME Chicago host the championship? just a thought.

Actually, I remember putting that in a notepad file one day.. it went something like:

Branson - Center Grove, Petal, South Jones
Chicago - Totino-Grace, Wheaton-Warrenville, Fairfield
Hollywood - Mt. Zion, Hart, Brea-Olinda
New York - Eisenhower, Carroll, Olentangy
Orlando - Ankeney, Franklin Central, Omaha Westside

This is a rough estimate, seeing as though I don't have the best feel for choirs in the West and South.

I could be mistaken, but did you just pick a PERFECT bracket? hahaha..i miss march madness already..

$60+???? I'm officially rethinking my decision. That is a LOT of money, plus hotel, plus food, especially for a college kid who's not working right now

By the way, 67.50 for a ticket is soo much money!

The issue is that they have two separate things going on but only one set of events. There are groups who can't afford to go to Indiana or aren't interested in two big trips in one competition season or have scheduling conflicts or whatever, but still want a "national event" experience during their choir year. Since all of FAME's offerings are now also the "regional qualifiers," you're going to have overlap between groups who want different things. It's just the way it is. Personally, I don't think they should be expanding or contracting their Indiana invitations based on choirs with special needs or wants. The entire point of having a regionals system in the first place is to narrow down the field to the best of the best so that Indiana is a truly elite, special, invite-only competition. If you start allowing "all finalists from any FAME event" or whatever, then you're taking away from that. I do fully sympathize with groups who feel frustrated that a higher placing group "took" their slot and then decided not to go on, but the remedy for that is simply to just place higher next time. That's what this is all about... encouraging groups to push their limits and take it to the next level and then finding the closest thing to a "national champion" possible.

that is really sad... why did they bother to compete then?? let groups who want to go to nationals compete for those 3 spots.

FAME knew this would happen. Maybe they should have opened it up to any finalist. I know TV really wanted a trip to Chicago and in order to go they had to be competing. Had they qualified for Nationals they would have not gone because of prom. There are any reasons why they bother to compete. I really like the concept of this, but the feasibility is almost impossible.

Is there an updated list or something that says who is all attending for sure?

I doubt anyone knows this yet but will any other groups be staying at the Hyatt Regency??? wanting to make some more new friends

Probably! I think thats the brand new hotel they built. Its actually connected to the convention center, so I would imagine groups would be staying there.

The new hotel is the JW Marriott not the Hyatt Regency. And most every hotel in downtown Indy is connected to the convention center, so groups probably wouldn't be staying at the same hotel for that reason.

Is there any other way to get the tickets besides Ticketmaster?
I hate all those fees!! When I ordered my FAME Chicago tickets too late to ship to me, I still had to pay the $5.00 "Shipping Fee" even tho I picked them up at the event the day of the performances!!

Or you can print the tickets yourself and pay a convenience fee! There is no winning.

On the FAME website it says tickets to the FAME Indianapolis are $60. If you order them off Ticketmaster they tack on an extra $7.50. But for the FAME qualifiers tickets are still $40.

Carroll competes in Indy all the time so they could afford to go there I would think.
Yes, both Carroll's "Minstrel Magic" and "Select Sound" will be attending. And we can not wait!

I agree with you Corey, it's sad that Waconia isn't able to go, because they're fantastic and definitely deserve to. They could do very well at Indy.

With all of these groups not attending, i would love to see Waconia added to the field. They're a very strong group, and just great people. And it's not like they'd be going just for fun. They would have a very good chance at placing. They just went to the wrong FAME unfortunately.
and i'm sure there are plenty of other 4th place groups at other FAME events that i could say the same about

In the FAME LA forums it was announced all the qualifying groups would come to nationals.

It also seemed like the FAME NY qualifiers were all gonna go to Nationals, but that is just speculation. Carroll competes in Indy all the time so they could afford to go there I would think. Also Eisenhower isn't too far away either. Idk about Jenks.

Carroll's website says they're going, for sure.
