From all I have heard the above is correct. I do applaud Benton for their actions, that is a classy thing to do, and will help to move this competition along.
Benton did not get kicked out, they were made aware of the calculation error and decided to drop out because they did not earn the spot in finals.
I was their host and they were nothing but gracious and kind all day. I was amazed with their show and I hope they have fun the rest of the time they spend in Chicago.
I am proud to be an Iowan today... after UNI's awesome win over Kansas and now after this classy action by Benton. It is heart breaking when a group is announced in finals that score wise shouldn't be. Usually they are then allowed to compete (As was the case here), but everyone always is a little miffed about the situation after. I mean... it happened to my alma mater in 2007 at Milton. They were in 6th place... a clear finalist... another school, Davenport Central, was in 7th place and was mistakenly announced for finals. Davenport Central then stayed to compete in finals and received 5th Runner Up over my school which then took home 6th Runner Up and no trophy. Don't worry... we got a broken one in the mail months later. It stunk. Today really must have hurt for Benton... but what they did was an amazing thing. They won't be forgotten.
Mundelein's competition historically runs behind. In 2005 when I competed there, it was the same story... but this year it will be much longer I believe.

Now THAT is the definition of classy (appopriate considering they host the "Touch of Class" competition, I suppose.)
Round of applause for Celebration Co.
Now, back to that competition bit... I suppose you won't be done for a while yet, hah.

Well, from heresay, it's that one of Troy's scores wasn't counted and it kept them out of finals. I'm not 100% about it. Oh, and apparently they messed up Omaha Westside's girl's group too
