I doubt that's going to happen. Hart's not going to beat Brea. Nor will BV. Los Al shouldn't, either, but with these type of judges, it probably will. It'll be like Arcadia all over again when they even had to come out and explain why Brea didn't win when the theater-wide standing ovation said otherwise...

Now im really bummed that i didnt make it to the arcadia competition to watch. Stupid tags were expired and got pulled over by highway patrol and missed the whole thing. haha. But yea im so excitied. This is truly one of the best line-ups with amazing groups that Socal has ever had. Good luck to all!

I think Brea is often underestimated/underrated at these things. California judges know what they like (like most judges), but this year you've got two really wild cards in that area. I agree with David that it is impossible to predict this one.

EXACTLY. That's the problem. Judges like what they like. Most of the time it's not based on skill or anything, just preference. Judges are also hired to fit the director's preference, too. In fact, last year at Los Al when Brea's Chamber Choir placed 2nd ( I think...), the judge that placed them high was swiftly fired and a new judge was hired for the next day.

: ( I miss SoCal show choir. I always remember this was the competition to attend. I moved away to Northern CA a couple of years ago and am starting show choirs up here. I would really love to get a Northern CA show choir circuit started. And yes, Mt. Eden is wonderful! I still remember their Duel of the Fates performance!
The funny thing is I am taking my choir to San Diego this same weekend for the Heritage festival. I don't think we will have time to stop by though I really do want my kids to see show choir "live".
Oh well at least Glendora will be at San Diego Heritage! Can't wait to see them!

Good luck to everyone and have a blast!

Thanks! That was my senior year. Our director was planning to start a show choir competition up here a few years ago but that fell through. If you ever decide to start one up, I'd be thrilled to help you.

What school are you at now?

The quotes weren't working properly because you double quoted someone but didn't include two quote tags.
Hahaha yeah. xD I figured.

Edit: This quoting thing is getting weird.

i honestly don't think I've ever seen your show for one reason or another.. i'll be sure to watch at burroughs. but, we only had four returning guys this year, so i guess we got lucky with all of the new guys.
Haha we had three guy returners. xD Really? You never saw it?

Haha I wish my choir was super awesome, but then most of the guys are first timers, so then vocally we were not that prepared. I wish I was better at singing GRRR! >_< Haha I think some of my choir stopped caring, but I hope everyone starts caring so that if we all care we only can get better.

well thanks.. but it was probably the best thing that could have happened to us because it motivated us to prove to everyone we are a good choir.

Haha really? Everyone in my choir thought you guys were bombbb at Aztec, most of the first sightings for first time choir people, like me! xD Well, yeah it seemed like you guys worked really hard. It paid off in the end! =D

Haha weird my quoting didn't work Haha that's what Alex said, but yeah I'm positive that there are a lot of choirs at their competitive level haha. xD By the way you know for Aztec Sing this year, how come you guys got 5th place, I thought you guys were way higher than that, especially above us. xD

mine didnt work when i quoted you earlier either.. haha

but umm in regards to aztec, we just didn't have it together vocally yet. plain and simple. haha but we worked our butts off to get us two straight third places and then two straight first places

Haha It's okay just come to California! :D Haha kidding. Haha I've never seen a Fame event before, everyone in my choir probably doesn't know Totino Grace or even Clinton since we've never been to an event out of our state nor far away from our city. Most of the people in my choir think that Burroughs, Burbank, Hart, and Arcadia are like the top choirs around and none are able to compete with them haha. >_<

By the way I wish there was a button we could use to multi-quote people. xD

Haha it's all good. xD Haha yeah, seems like they came out of nowhere. I can't find them on the choirs on this site, does anyone know where they are from or if they're good? =)
There is a live feed for all of us who are not lucky enough to attend. Haha

Mt Eden's Choir program is really strong. I had a director in college who student taught at Mt Eden in the early 90's and he had some recordings of them and they sang very beautifully.
Oh that's cool, my choir is alright I guess, but I think most of us get in way too easily... :/ Like me, my first year of choir and I got into advanced haha. You don't even need to try to get into intermediate. >_< Mr. Willert, the director for Brea Olinda use to teach at my school, but then he moved to Brea Olinda like I don't know 5 or 6 years ago? Then the accompanist of Brea Olinda moved to Diamond Bar High School since Mr. Willert had his own accompanist. So, yeah haha at least that's how I hear it goes. xD
