To be honest, maybe it's for the best, because if we would do the finals this year I always worry about how long this competition will possibly go on until.
I honestly don't want to see a group perform at 12:00 A.M.
didnt realize this let me fix these a little
GC=Burbank/Burroughs
1ru=Burbank/Los Al/Burroughs
2ru=Los Al/ Bonita Vista
3ru=Bonita Vista/Pleasant Hill
4ru= Hart/Pleasant Hill
Vocals=Burroughs
Choreo=Los Al
Band=Burbank
once again idk about these groups all that well
So if Los Al takes 2nd, then either Burbank or Burroughs won't make finals at all?
I think Brea is often underestimated/underrated at these things. California judges know what they like (like most judges), but this year you've got two really wild cards in that area. I agree with David that it is impossible to predict this one.
For real, Adam Shane (for sake of differentiation), if you want to check P-Hill out, there are some handheld cam videos starting here. I'm pretty impressed with what I can see, and I'm curious to see how they do against the fantastic Cali groups.
I most certainly will be watching the live feed...
Random predictions:
GC: Burbank (Show)
1RU: Burroughs (Music)
2RU: Los Al
3RU: Pleasant Hill
4RU: Brea Olinda
(The top 3 could go any way, and so could the bottom 3, so it'll be a great comp, I'm sure. )
my predicitons right here.
GC=Burbank/Burroughs
1ru=Los Al/Burroughs/Burbank
2ru=Los Al
3ru=Pleasant Hill
4ru=Brea Olinda
not sure with all these cali groups, I know los al, burbank, burroughs and pleasant hill and I know their capability

GC=Burbank/Burroughs
1ru=Burbank/Los Al/Burroughs
2ru=Los Al/ Bonita Vista
3ru=Bonita Vista/Pleasant Hill
4ru= Hart/Pleasant Hill
lol i didnt get to see them at los al but i heard they made fun of the Burbank choirs.lol i wanna see tht.
Technically...Thundercats makes fun of all the choirs!!! Its just something they like to do!!! but its pretty hilarious if I say so myself!! Hope to see you there!
can someone post performances of So Cal the first day with the intermediate choirs such as Burbank Out of the Blue and Burroughs Sound Waves up above or will that be posted closer to the competition???? Thanks!
It actually took the second tie-breaker to declare the winner in 2008.
First, rankings were to determine the winner (makes sense with five judges, right?), but two judges had Burroughs in first, two judges had Burbank in first, and one judge had a tie between the two.
So, point totals were to be the tie-breaker. Yet both Burbank and Burroughs had the exact same number of total points. The second tie-breaker, and ultimately the deciding factor, was vocal scores; and Burbank had 1.5 points over Burroughs.
Actually, if memory serves, 2008 was the year of the second tie between PH and IS, which was broken by the vocal score.
...oh and IS has won 7 times, including the tie in 2006...but whose counting?
You could be right about the tie... I just remember they decided to break it the second time it happened. As for the 7 wins, apparently I just can't count well.
Annnnd... Hart has apparently decided to move back down to Tier II. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
The SoCal competition started in 1995. For the advanced mixed division, here's a breakdown of all of the Grand Champions:
Only three groups have ever won SoCal: Burbank's "In Sync" (6 times, including the tie), Bonita Vista's "The Music Machine" (5 times), and John Burroughs "Powerhouse" (4 times, including the tie).
2007 resulted in a tie between Burroughs and Burbank as in 2006, but in 2007, the tie was broken with the music score.

Mr. and Mrs. Bolles were so awesome! Definetly not a surprise that they won so much while they were at Bonita. Also Mr. Bolles produced a pretty decent director right Mr.A?
