Thanks to all the kids from Pascagoula (sp?) who came to the Omaha Community Playhouse's performance of All Shook Up tonight. I was one of the stage crew. It was one of the better shows I have heard because of the energy the actors got from you. It was great to be backstage knowing the audience was appreciating the work done both on and off stage.

Thanks Again,

Everyone has been saying great things about Ralston! Thank you so much! We've worked really hard and we're very excited to compete this weekend! Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Depending on whether or not our Basketball team wins tomorrow and friday, RUSH may or may not attend.
If they win they'll go to the state game on Saturday and it would be a very logistically difficult day because many of our members are in band and the dance team(both groups which have to attend the game).
So we'll just have to see.

...but we all secretly hope things happen so that we can go. :D

I'm gonna say..

GC. Waukee
1RU. Papillion South
2RU. Pascagoula
3RU. Lewis Central
4RU. Ralston
5RU. Bishop Heelan

Let's face it. Waukee is the clear favorite. They've got a great knock out show that everyone loves to watch. Their results so far have been very impressive. My big worry is that they havn't competed in a while. But I still expect them to bring their A game.

Papio South is also kind of a mystery to us. They've had two great showings. They've beaten groups like Millard West and the Lincolns. Where they finish seems to be completely up to them.

This mississippi choir is throwing everyone for a loop trying to figure them out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first southern show choir to come to northwestern iowa.. well i know for at least a long time cause I never remember it happening in my years of show choir. I'm not really sure where to put them in my predictions, but I think they'll finish top 3 for usre.

Ralston VS Lewis Central I think could be a very good show. I think these two choirs, at least after this past weekend, look to be about even on paper. Ralston is on a huge rise the past couple of weeks. I fear for LC because of their off week in hosting. But hopefully with that bright smile of Andrew Gulden in the front row, they can pull it off.

Heelan - I love you guys, but I don't see you finishing higher than 4RU at the best, and you'll probably fall here in 5RU. I have a lot of friends in your group, a lot of close friends even AND a cousin (love you becca). I'll be there rootin' you on. We all know I'd love to see the title stay in NW Iowa.

Waukee is definitely the favorite, but it'll be interesting to watch 3RU-5RU. It'll be a battle between Lewis Central, Ralston, and my group, Heelan. Ralston beat Heelan at Lewis Central, but it was only by a few points. I can see Heelan placing 5RU, but we've got a lot of Seniors who will be performing for their last time competitively. That will be a huge factor. We have a smaller choir than most (42 kids) but we sing up there with the big guys (Mitchell, ATSC, Millenium) at every competition. Several hours have already gone into this week cleaning choreo. It will be an interesting competition.

I would say Waukee sweep. From what i heard they have some pretty awesome vocals this year. ANd I think I would have Ralston in 3rd (i'm not familiar with Pascagoula... so i'll keep them where you have them)

pascagoula beat kennedy and Mt. Zion at SCN last year. they could do some major damage here.

Final predictions on finalists:

Ralston 'RUSH'
Bishop Heelan 'Harmonia Mundi'
Pascagoula 'Impact'
Papillion-LaVista South 'Titanium'
Waukee 'Millennium '
Council Bluffs Lewis Central 'Lewis Corporation'

I can't wait to come to another amazing competition at Westwood. Year after year, Gerking puts on a great atmosphere full of great groups, and this looks to be a very good year to come watch.
