Really, wow - what can you tell us about Millard's show this year?
This is what Ethan had to say about them:
I really liked them. They start out as a masquerade ballers - dresses and masks - for their first song, "Masquerade" from Phantom of the Opera... Then they disappear under a sheet for 15 seconds and they're completely changed, and the next song is fast paced and wow. Vocals still might (and probably will) push Iowa City West ahead of them, but Millard West had amazing visuals with that, costumes, and choreography.
i'm sorry...i should have clarified
amanda put it very nicely--it was a wakeup call--it felt odd to me.
perhaps i'm experiencing alienation from show choir?
amanda- i think much debating will have to happen during ap english.
anyways-back on topic, i'm sorry to have caused drama that was not my intention. i should have chosen my words more diplomatically.
come see our show.
heckle me for being mostly 'crazy' and as another gtc member so eloquently put it, a "prima donna".
oh hallejuah. someone believes in us.
waukee was a total sham. (sorry finalists...one of your directors betrayed you)
Jared, you so crazy. Haha, jk.
Waukee was not a sham, we had certain things counting against us (unclean choreography, lack of vocal flexibility, going first, etc.) and I think it was helpful to be placed where we were. Yes, it was disappointing, but it was a wake-up call to make sure we worked hard the rest of the season (kinda like the disaster at Linn-Mar last year... I shudder to think about it).
Regardless, I can't wait for this competition and I'm really excited to see all the other groups perform!

I wouldn't say that Waukee was a sham. It was unfortunate that we didn't make finals but the judges chose who they thought were best.
The director of one of the finalists sent our director a nice letter that said they thought that we should have been in finals. It wasn't that big of a deal though and we should really be focusing more on the competitions to come instead of making a big deal about this.
I looked back at the Waukee topic. There is obviously the thing about the risers falling apart (but that was during Lewis Central) and that everyone thought IC West should have made the finals. But nothing jumps out at me here... it would be nice to know what this is referring to.
