It wasn't the one with two toilets in the same stall was it?

Isn't that the one by the cafeteria? That's actually where we met, and i forgot about that.... HAHA

I only go into two bathrooms at Washington High School, and none of y'all (except Chris) have EVER been in them I am sure of that. They are tucked away within the depths of the school...

Ah, memories of meeting show choir people...

I remember I attended Big Dance 04 as a spectator, and I was IN LOVE with Totino that year (like seriously it was ridiculous). Anyways as soon as I walk into the gym there is a HUGE gaggle of Totino people right there... I about passed out! HAHAHA But they were so so nice, and they performed the crap out of their show (I attribute their success to meeting me HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

Ha, thank you, but call me Ben. And that was our singer/dancer, Alivia.

Did you happen to talk to an asian Preble kid in the gym while you were loading after finals? Or are there more Alivia/Olivias in Spots? aha.

We actually have an Alivia and an Olivia. One is a 3rd year singer/dancer and the other is a 4th year 2nd synth player! Now, was she blonde or redhead? THAT is the question...

I totally agree. That dance party before Colby performed was epic.
Here are set lists for all finalists that have not been posted already. Great job everyone and good luck with the rest of your season!

Washburn - The Longest Beatles Medley in the History of the World (I count 14 songs listed)

Janesville - Promises in the Dark / My Way / The Distance You Have Come / This is My Life / Rock On / Turn Up the Radio & Kids Wanna Rock

Mayville - Hunchback of Notre Dame

Altoona - The Message / What Kind of Man / Song of Purple Summer / Broken Wings / Rolling Stones Medley

Colby - Promises in the Dark / I Want You / I Told You So / Heartless & Battlefield / She Drives Me Crazy & Crazy in Love

Our clinican had some very confusing things to say as well. Football show choir really does not make sense. Like, it couldn't possible, ever make sense to me. And I really wanted to see Preble, too! Hopefully at New London! But let me tell you, Colby had some crazy dance parties! I made friends with people from every show choir in the finals, and with Colby people!

Since I can't go to sleep, I'll say what I have to say and leave it at that. I love typing long essays.

Festival Results:
1st - Flambeau
2nd - Fall Creek
3rd - Washburn Superior Ladies

Solo Results:
Female - Mayville, ? (I Dreamed a Dream)
Female in a Show - ?
Male - Preble, Connor Smith (Ordinary People)
Male in a Show - DePere, Jack Janowicz

I saw a total of two groups today, which angered me even though I was fortunate enough to make it for our prelims show:
Mayville - As usual, you guys executed flawlessly; your tone blew me away, and you had a good mix of clean choreography in there as well. However, your biggest downfall (which seems to be a problem most years) is diction. It's very difficult to understand what you're singing sometimes as you're constantly moving, and this contributes to your second problem. Hunchback of Notre Dame is probably a good show (I've never seen it before), but I personally struggled to find and/or understand the plotline. As showsical-ers, your job is to tell a story, and I'm not entirely sure I got that story very well. You guys sing and dance wonderfully though, and I can't wait to see this show again at Sauk.

Colby - You guys keep getting better and better, don't you? I'm impressed with the choirs you are able to generate from such a small student population. However, I'm not sure your choreography is suited for you; it looks solid and clean, but with all the arm movements you have to perform, we lose a lot of facials, energy, and vocals. When you are allowed to just sing (especially in the acapella section of your 4th song), you sound amazing, but during your first 2 numbers and Crazy in Love, I had to struggle to hear or understand you. You have 2 weeks until you head to Milton, and even though there are no Colby SCC members that I know of, I wish you the best of luck as your season progresses and know that you will one day surprise the big boys out there.

I want to see Janesville so bad, it's not even funny. You too, DePere.

I think it's best to say that yesterday was a little bit of a reckoning and a little bit of a disappointment at the same time for Center Stage. I'm not going to say we were cocky, but we were definitely expecting better results than what happened.
After the day round, our critique judge informed us that we were "too intense" and compared us to a "football show choir" (a comment that actually still confuses me). She told us to back off the intensity/energy (it was confusing to try and differentiate them), and to the best of our ability, we attempted to adapt/follow the judges' advice as we went into the night round. We pleased them somewhat, jumping two places, but I feel as if our show could have done a lot better than it did. Nevertheless, we had a blast like we always do here, and getting to perform our show twice is always fun (especially when the crowd goes wild both times).

So, that's the day as I saw it. Anyone else care to throw in their thoughts? I'd love to hear what others have to say about our show.
When I wake up later today, I will post set lists, but good night for now.

This is an old Preble Center Stage mom responding....Preble has had a swing/show choir since the 1970's. They have a new director who took them to competitions the last two years. I saw their show last night and loved it, but as you all know, one can never tell how the judges will view it!
