I'm SO sad we aren't coming this year...

Pekin has a jazz band competition at EIU.

I don't think there is any way to rank the choirs in the US....1. everyone hasn't competed against one another 2. everyone is biased to their own choir/state/region 3. styles of choirs are very different (apples to oranges) 4. judges are different at each competition

AND who cares what everyone thinks is your RANKING in the country... if you like your choir, enjoy doing what you do then that is all that matters. Competitions are just icing on the cake to show off your hard work to other groups and your family/friends

Yeah i don't know how we go down from number six to number seven after winning GC and beating the #2 school!

No...I think its bull that your number 7 on it you should be pushed back....I mean my first thought that it was rigged was that Findlay was number one for a while....honestly? and Teays Valley at number 25! I could prolly name about 25 different choirs that arn't on the list better than them...just saying that system is rigged

I agree they are both good but that show choir ranking site is a bunch of bull

My Predictions:

Single-Gender: 1) El Paso- Gridley 2)Springfield Southeast 3) Springfield Lutheran

Small School: 1)Watseka 2) El-Paso Gridley 3) Herscher 4) PBL 5) Clifton Central

Large School 1) Bishop Luers 2) Eisenhower EE 3) Palatine 4) Shepard NOVA 5) YGTC

GC - Bishop Luers

BV - Bishop Luers
BC - EEE

There are a few really good show choirs here. I think everybody knows who Bishop Luers and Eisenhower Elite Energy are. Both are ranked in the Top 30 in the nation on the SC rankings site. Palatine Forte is the defending champion and is a very talented show choir in their own right. Alan Shepard is also a very good Show choir with numerous finals appearances last year. And finally, I would rate Manteno Magic (exhibition) as one of the best small school show choirs in the midwest after making finals at Mt. Zion, Davenport North and sweeping all the small school awards at the Danville Midwest Classic last weekend.

how many awards are given out at awards?

I am not sure what they award anymore, but typically the Main Event has awards for soloists, each class (Combo, Vocals, Choreo, Placings)....and then an overall grand champion.

No matter what though, the Main Event is always a fun competition

I believe part of the reason Manteno doesn't have finals is exactly what gmboilers1 is saying. When Manteno was doing surveys of directors before we put on our first competition, one of the requests was for no finals. I totally understand the LOVE of finals, but it can make for a VERY long day. Once Manteno was first to perform in the day (I think it was Davenport North about 8 years ago) and we made finals...so Leave Manteno at 4 AM, drive 3 hours to competition perform at 9:00 AM sit around all day, and perform again at 9:00 PM, then awards at Midnight, too much

Just go out and get em during the day show and be proud of what you can prove in your 25 minutes! Have fun

You Luers kids are too young to remember the last time we went to Illinois for a show with "finals". I think we were finally unloading equipment at 6:30 the next morning. Maybe Manteno is worried about all the poor old parents coming from so far away!! I doubt it though. The last show we went to without classic finals was Belmont like 6 years ago. It was different, kind of like "finals" for every choir. No "slacking" during the day show!!!

Break a leg you guys!

Manteno is 4 hours away for us!
but we are SO EXCITED!
we all loved manteno's show last year, especially the ballad, and we got the music to it, and sing it all the time in choir!
we're also excited to see Alan B. Shep this weekend! i heard they were a blast to host at our competition last year!
yay show choir! show choir kids hooray :D

None of us really know.
We all want finals, as it would bring more money as well as make the competition just a little bit more interesting, but for some reason there isn't.

it's ok... we'lll get over it! i'm still excited for the comp!

GC: Eisenhower Elite Energy
1st RU: Bishop Luers
2nd RU: Palatine Forte
3rd RU: NOVA

Haven't seen a lot of these choirs this year, (and some never) so this is just a random prediction. Good Luck!

GC: Bishop Luers
1st RU: EEE
2nd RU: Palatine
3rd RU: Nova
