i really wanted to see West's show this year. It always worked out to where we were either going into warmup, loading the truck, in critique, trying not to pass out, etc when you guys were onstage. I guess I'll just have to settle for YouTube

I completely agree with you. I never said the judges didn't like it. Obviously they do or you guys wouldn't be doing as well as you are. I have also said that you do the show well. It's just my personal opinion that the show isn't that great. So don't take that as me saying that the judges don't like it. LOL!

I understand that but you should have voiced your opinion like you did and left it at that.. not critizised(SP?) someone else's opinion in such a rude manor..

C'mon Andy, let the man have his opinion...

Hey now I never said that he couldn't have an opinion! LOL! That's what America is all about. But I'm entitled to disagree too. LOL! Anyway it's all in good fun. If it turned into a fight then I wouldn't say anything more. But we are all friends here and we all get to voice our opinions. That's why SCC was created don't you agree?

Sorry but are you kidding me? you really thought West was better than Tupelo, Pascagoula, and Beech? Wow! Like I said, they do their show very well, but it is definitely not up there with the likes of the other finalists.

I have no idea but they were selling them at the compettion!

Yes, but that doesn't help me much now, does it? ha. If anyone knows the company who filmed, please let me know so I can try to get the contact.

On the West Jones topic, I am not a fan of their show this year mainly because I've seen all of it before- the country, the parody, and the rock and roll. However, the way in which they execute the choreography, staging, and vocals is outstanding, and shows that they have brought it up a notch. So many people that I have talked to many people who believe that they should not score well because they are not a fan of the show, but that's not what the scores are about. I am proud of West and the improvements and accomplishments they have reached in the past few years.

If I may voice my opinion ha.. apparently this show is better than any other year because we have placed higher than we have ever before... so apparently the judges see something that you don't but you are entitled to your own opinion...

There is sooooo much potential there and one year, they are gonna dominate! it just so happens that this year is not that year. But I have a feeling it is soon to come!

West jones- I thought you guys were awesome! I'm a HUGE fan of the show and personally would have had you 1RU and best choreography. I LOVE your opener and I agree with an earlier post, the hoedown song makes me smile the whole time! I think this is a strong year for you guys, but if it is a "down" year like somebody else said, then I say "WATCH OUT" for west jones!!!!

Thanks to Petal for running a good competition. Here are my thoughts on the groups I saw.

Beech: Wow. I was very impressed. The first part of the show was really cheesy to me, but you guys sang the ballad and closer extremely well. Congrats doing so well.

Pascagoula: The show wasn't quite as good as it was in Finals at William Carey, but you guys still did REALLY well.

Northeast Jones: So much improvement from earlier in the year. I understand that Dr. Myers just recently came back to school, and I know he couldn't be more proud of you guys. I was very pleased with your performance.

South Jones: I do think you should have made Finals, but there were parts of the show that were shaky. You produced a very good choral sound in some parts, especially the ballad, but it felt like the choral presence died when it was just the guys singing or just the girls singing. Still, you were lightyears better than when I saw you earlier in the year, and for a show that I didn't really like that much, you had some awesome energy and performed it really well. Keep your heads high, guys.

I was disappointed that I didn't get to see Albertville or Tupelo, but I heard wonderful things about both, and they both look very good on Youtube

As for our group, we were very thrilled to make Finals with such tough competition. I can name about 8 or 9 groups at this competition who put on GREAT shows. And again, good job to every group on a great performance.

Albertville- I am not a huge fan of the show, but you do it well. Vocally, spot on. I def think you deserve best vocals and best band. Congrats on all your success this year.

Tupelo- GREAT JOB!! who knew you guys would be so good, I loved the show and especially the opener!! Congrats to you for a job well done.

Pascagoula - solid, not my favorite show of yours but I still always live pulling fir the little guy and I think you do a GREAT JOB!

Petal- you hosted a great event, but honestly, I can see why you're having a down year and didn't make finals this year, the vocals are not great and it's not my favorite weaver show.

South jones- keep working, I'm sure it's a shock not to be in finals, but you have to know there are tons of good groups these days. I think it's always humbling and a good motivator to not make finals once in a while.

That little sequence of words cracked me up

What an AWESOME experience! This competition was spectacular! I met so many wonderful people from South Jones, Tupelo, and Petal. We had some super cool hosts as well.

Beech - Such a delite seeing yall in finals! When yall were called out for finals, I was sitting close to yall and the excitment that I saw in your faces was wonderful. I look forward to seeing more success from "Melodic Impact" in the future.

Pascagoula - Your show is jam packed with energy! Great outfits this year. I wasn't familiar with your song selections. Congratulations on your placement.

South Jones - Honestly, I was pretty shocked when yall weren't called out for finals. I didn't think your performance was worthy of placing quite so low, but that's just me. Pleasure seeing your show once more and getting to be home room next door neighbors to yall.

Tupelo - Wow! What an incredible show! I talked to some of your parents and they were very kind. I am a big fan of your opener song. Your closer was a bit out of the ordinary and I liked it very much! Great to see yall and congratulations on a top-notch show.

West Jones - I am a huge fan of your hip-hop ho-down. I was smiling the whole time! I am so excited about your well-deserved success this year. And unlike Andy, I think this is anything but a down year for yall. Keep up the great work!

The groups I saw early in the day (Tullahoma, Oak Grove, Pell City) have some serious potential and I enjoyed each of your shows. Congratulations on a show well done.

I was so pleasantly surprised by all the folks that recognized me from here. At least 4 people asked if I was "CSdude1". Some girl came up to me in the cafeteria and asked if I was a judge, because according to her....I looked like one. IDK.

Well, time to hit the hay.

Ok so I didn't get to see prelims so can someone enlighten on how South did not make finals? If they performed as well as they have the rest fo the year then they certainly should have made finals over other groups. But as for the shows I saw in finals, here is what I have to say.

West Jones- I'm not really a big fan of the show. Y'all obviously do it well. I just don't think it's that great of a show. Definitely one of your down years. But I must admit, I do love your ballad(as always)!

Beech- WOW! I have never seen or even heard of you guys but I was very impressed. Especially with your ballad. It's extremely hard to pull off a completely acapella ballad as gracefully as you guys did! Great work and I look forward to seeing what's in store in the future for you guys!

Pascagoula- As always, you guys impressed me. You are one of the groups that I look forward to seeing every year and I always have the pleasure to see you at least once. This year i have seen you twice and have loved you both times! Keep up the good work!

Tupelo- WOW! Loved your show and your set. Don't let it get to you guys that you didn't win. You should be proud of what you have accomplished because you guys are fantastic!

Albertville- Do I even need to say what I think? I think we all know. After last year I thought Mr. Rains would never come up with a better show for this year. I WAS WRONG and I'm glad to say it! I'm so proud of all of you! I love you guys!

Congrats to everyone!

Oh and a special shoutout to the solo winner Alex from Tupelo High! You were great girl! Congrats!
