*Edit* This is how finals will work (I think): The top five scoring groups will be in finals, and the top scoring group from the auditorium, which are 1A, 2A, and 3A schools, is guaranteed a spot. I *think* that is how it works, as in I'm 99% sure.

yeah that is how it works

I am going to have to say a GCS sweep. At our comp, the closest score was somewhere around 100 points behind them...yeah their amazing.

Just to make it clear, prep groups can make finals, as I am fairly certain CR Kennedy's Protoge was in our finals last year. So if any prep groups want to strike out for a finals spot, more power to 'em!

Also, last year was a huge year for us at our competition. We had groups from all over coming, and the final results were really a toss up. This year it just seems like everyone was busy this weekend, or have always gone to another comp on the same day in the same city...

Plus our Happiness friends are in Florida so they can't make it either. And I really wish I could have had one of those schedules, but I did nto have the time to hand copy it from the wall, and we did not get that in an e-mail, so thank you for posting that!

I wish everyone the best of luck this weekend, and now it's time to go decoration shopping!

*Edit* This is how finals will work (I think): The top five scoring groups will be in finals, and the top scoring group from the auditorium, which are 1A, 2A, and 3A schools, is guaranteed a spot. I *think* that is how it works, as in I'm 99% sure.

At Sioux City East's competition, they had 6 open class finalists and then the winner from the prep/small school division in finals as well. Is this the case with all Iowa competitions? Meaning, would a prep choir be able to make finals?

Well, i think it'll be GCS, Johnston, Indianola, West Deleware, La Crosse Central Connection, and Newton. Don't know about special awards, but that's my thoughts on position.
