the only thing is that if you ask people from groups like JB, Mundelein, Crete etc they will tell you that their Single-Gender groups are not "prep" groups per say. They are on the same footing as the varsity groups, and they even have some of the same people in it. maybe that is the thing?

personally, like i said, burroughs girls sang too well to not make finals. I did think it was sorta stupid to have the girls groups go after the mixed groups. usually it is the other way around.

when our director called fame to ask if our prep group was eligible to make finals, they said no.

Why weren't "prep" groups supposed to make finals?

even though prep groups weren't supposed to make finals... oh well.
and thank you for telling me. that will make us work a lot harder on our vocals over the next two weeks.

They were expected to make finals, but JB girls beat them out.

yah. i was personally kinda shocked. i thought they would beat South Jones (who had one of my fav shows that day) and SJ would be out but the roles were reversed. JB girls had too good of vocals to not make finals.

They were at FAME Chicago '08?
I've always wondered who else was there besides the finalists.
, i know.

Kennedy always has a full, loud sound. So that's not really what I mean. A lot has to do with the vowels. They tend to be very spread and bright. Esser, Reese, and Last bring a lot of warmth to their choirs' sound. That for me, was the reason you didn't make finals at FAME Chicago 08. It's going to be a sound that competes with the other choirs, but I just see the vocal scores being a little lower for Kennedy than the other three. However, y'all will make it up with the intensity you put into your choreo.

City High can be really off some years, so who knows what this year will bring for them. Honestly, any of these groups could have an off year. Who really knows what the transition to Esser will mean for Valley. Bloomington Kennedy's vocals have been known to be VERY iffy, while Xavier is expected to shine vocally. Unfortunately, I think Jarad's choreography cpuld bring Xavier down again this year. Kennedy knows how to perform his stuff though. Central also has been known to take a while to get into Andy's choreography.

so i totally agree with our vocals being iffy, but can you elaborate?

Okay my posts are being stupid. I DEFINITElY don't think Jarad's choreography is second rate. Jarad has established himsef as one of the best choreographers in the country in my opinion. He has choreographed multiple Show Choir Camps of America (which i might add is pretty impressive). He also has worked under very well know choreographers like April James. Not to mention he was apart of Onalaska during their prime, so I think he knows what winning choreography looks like.

I don't want to sound arrogant but Jarad is an amazing choreographer and if you think he is second-rate then you're entitled to your opinion but maybe keep it to yourself

You're arguing with yourself?

This is going to be a great competition and with so many great groups I feel pretty awesome to have you put us as high as you did Jay! I was just wondering about a different question and you've already answered that one too.

Hopefully Dowling makes finals so I can see them... I never have but I've wanted to for a while now.

I don't think any Xavier student could be more happy with Jarad as their choreographer. We are so appreciative of how hard he works on our show and how much he really cares about every group he works with. As for the fact that people remember our vocals, can you really blame us for that???

First of all, I'm not "blaming" you for great vocals, I don't really know how you can accuse me of that... I am first and foremost a singer and I believe that vocals are the single most important factor of any show.

I did also say that those are day round predictions... Xavier has an early time slot comparitively, and that can have an impact on the placing of the show (see Great River 08 when IC West got 5th in day round with an early show and moved up to 2nd after finals). I stick with what I said. And anyways, like I said in another forum, I've never gotten a prediction fully right, I can guarantee that.

The comments I made were just things I have personally witnessed from those groups in previous years when I have seen them. I don't mean them as a "your show will suck" type of thing (because obviously i haven't seen any of your shows for this year). Those are just my thoughts as I look at this GREAT line-up of groups. Also, I'm thinking about head-to-head results.

Xavier people- you may have won best choreography a lot but when people look back at that xavier show they don't talk about the choreography, they talk about the amazing vocals you had. they talk about the ballad. sorry guys. but going against choreography from mike weaver, damon brown, and andy haines, i think jarad's choreography could look second-rate. that's just my personal opinion about the composition of his choreography. it really had nothing to do with how you perform it. prove me wrong.

and taylor- feel free to put it up... but make sure you put right next to it that i am andy's BIGGEST fan. and reese's. and i have been for well over 5 years.

again just things i've noticed from these groups over the years. please prove me wrong. I BEG you.
