omg.... this is the 2nd west side story show i've seen this year. and i think it needs to be abolished from show choir.

thank god LC can sing, because it looks like Ron Morgan crapped out on them this year.

Defintiley aggree!!! ..I'm cool with 1 or 2 west side story songs...but a whole show is too much. Im bored right now. and honestly a little embarrassed for them

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkqLkBuQrs8 Compare Center Grove this year to LC's in 2006. Im not crying foul, I just want to know what every one thinks between the two.

PS: Jake Adrianson is a BEAST!!!!

i want to hear more band from CG in finals. that will help pump up energy a ton. the opener especially needs more horns.

i like burbank's apples and oranges. i prefer your show to burroughs and i wish you guys were at crystal classic today!

Does Burroughs use a different/bigger set in finals????

I think that part of center grove's success is the perfect show equation....
This irks me. See Originality topic over in SCD for more details.

I am not a fan of CG's style for the most part, but that was a really, really good show.
Opener was beautiful and classy.
I'm sorry, but two novelties is 2 too many for me.
Ballad was absolutely amazing - thank you for doing that.
And for some reason, I just can't stand tap numbers.
Closer could have been milked for more intensity, but I'm sure it will be jaw-dropping tonight.

I really enjoyed Center Grove's show a lot. And it probably helps that they're also an Andy group, so the style and organization are really similar to what I'm used to, but I agree that their "show equation" works really well. it shows off a lot of different styles and shows the diversity of what they can do.

And I loved the tap number! So much fun!

Amazing job CG. definitely doing indiana proud. No matter what the rest of indiana does with their show designs, you guys stick to what you know, and you do it so well. Vocals were incredible. Choreo was great. I wouldn't be surprised if CG goes in to finals with the lead. But they will need to step up even more tonight. Great job.

Ok LC, let's see what you've got.

either a) i didn't have my sound turned up at all or b) i was not very impressed.

it's the style of show i very much like. but it seemed sorta 50%... idk maybe that was just me. the ballad was AMAZING (even though the feed cut out in the middle)

AND the guys number. totally forgot about them boys. GREAT song!

I think Center Grove's gonna be in 3rd. I was hoping they'd be in 1st, but the tap was incredibly messy, and they did not give it their all. I LOVED the closer and the outfits, but I just don't see them jumping Burroughs or Clinton. I wish they would, but I just don't see it

Wow.. I LOVED Center Grove's show... their vocals in my opinion were incredible. And although their choreography didn't seem the busiest at the beginning I thought they did fantastic.

Again, I don't have anyone to compare them to yet. But I couldn't stop smiling and laughing I loved it so much!

YOU ROCK CENTERGROVE! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

I think that part of center grove's success is the perfect show equation...

Classy opener with great vocals, fun character number, BREATHTAKING ballad (california choirs take note of how an accapella ballad is supposed to sound), combo blaring tap, jazz number, showstopping pop closer. (btw i credit my choir for starting the I Surrender trend back in 2004)

if you wanna talk showmanship -this is the group to beat.

I understand this reasoning... but Ana have you ever told your Company members to hold it back in prelims?

...iiiii doubt it... totino grace brings it and thats why they are so respected.

Ha, well thanks! We don't ever tell or encourage our kids to hold back. We also are not at the level of a Clinton or John Burroughs, so I can't tell you how those groups function lol- maybe someday!!

I'm not saying these groups were TOLD to hold back. I don't believe they're holding back on purpose. But in a competition of this magnitude? Nerves, adjusting to the stage/ sound/ lighting, etc., usually result in groups having more to give in finals, when they know the performance they're doing is IT, and when they know comfortably how their show fits on a stage, and sounds in the house.

When you've got a lot of factors- staging, props, lights, backdrop- to worry about in addition to your singing, dancing, performing, balancing- you want to have a strong, SOLID show. Should it be your absolute best? Of course. Is your adrenaline and desire going to push you the way it will in finals? Doubtful.

The ending sums up everything i love about JB more than any other choir. They put on a show. They perform the heck out of their show. Entertaining beginning to end. The tell a story in every number. It's great. Every year. I love their show this year.
idk.... i hated that show. i thought the beginning was really cool. the ballad was kinda quirky. costuming was great. i thought they were really shouty. and it wasn't that clean.
I don't think any other choir is as polarizing, but if there's one thing you can't call Burroughs it's mediocre.

4 minutes, yeah. His name is Tyler Mann. He also had the "Tightrope Walker" solo in 2008.

Awesome. Thanks!
