Was the guy soloist in the closer the same guy that did "5 minutes" for them last year? It's hard to tell on the stream.
4 minutes, yeah. His name is Tyler Mann. He also had the "Tightrope Walker" solo in 2008.

The opener was interesting, although slightly confusing. I LOVED that ballad, I thought it was executed wonderfully. The closer was my favorite part of the show, but I think vocally compared to previous years the closer has been better. The choreo always is impressive, but wasn't as clean as usual. Costumes were the best I've seen, I liked the second costumes more than most Powerhouse costumes I've seen.

Full out or not I still don't like Burroughs' show this year. I have Clinton above them right now and if Center Grove performs well I could see them jumping BOTH

I would guess what we're seeing from some of these groups are the framework for what they'll do in finals. These are seasoned groups, I would not be surprised if a few of them are holding a bit back.

I don't know i think that's a terrible idea personally. I don't think any choir would ever hold back in their performance. They want to make a great first impression to the judges so the judges remember them better and that way they'll have a better chance in finals.

The way I see it. You do your ABSOLUTE BEST in prelims and then you do even better in finals.

I understand this reasoning... but Ana have you ever told your Company members to hold it back in prelims?

...iiiii doubt it... totino grace brings it and thats why they are so respected.

Burroughs. Genius.

That sums it up.

I think you're spot on with that one. I can't say for the other groups but having seen Powerhouse multiple times this year, It definetly looked like there was a bit of holding back there.

Live Feed dropped 150 after Burroughs. Coincidence?

That and it's the first time on this stage in this venue for groups...a second time in the same place always makes for a better, more confident performance.

Powerhouse was awesome... but, I've seen them perform that show much better. Watch out for a much better set in finals

This is what I expect. Like at FAME NY last year...an ok prelims performance...but after finals, there was no doubt who the best choir was.

i like burbank's apples and oranges. i prefer your show to burroughs and i wish you guys were at crystal classic today!

From what i've seen so far I think Burbank would be ahead by a decent margin if they were there.

idk.... i hated that show. i thought the beginning was really cool. the ballad was kinda quirky. costuming was great. i thought they were really shouty. and it wasn't that clean.

Totally agree

I hate that I actually had to go somewhere for the past couple hours!!

I missed all the groups I wanted to see! But I'll just have to see them in finals
I didn't see Clinton's vocals obviously but if I was to think of one reason they would beat JB's is because JB has a lot of solos that last a long time. Not that that's bad. I absolutely loved the soloists. I just don't know if that would be too much for the judges. Then again I didn't see the first half of JB or Clinton period so I guess I'll just have to see in finals

so....how do you like those apples with your oranges.....xD. I love that.
In all seriousness, though, I was blown away vocally and in terms of showmanship. Amazing performance.
However, even for a JB show, it was a bit underwhelming visually/choreographically. They do it beautifully, but I just didn't really see a lot of actual stuff. Maybe I'll see some moves I didn't catch this time around during finals.

Sorry, but I do not like Powerhouse's set this year. I feel they are trying too hard to be unique. The costuming is ridiculous. The ballad was very well done and the vocals were good overall. I loved the closer up until that ending. Sorry but that was just not a good ending. I actually prefer Clinton's show.

Go Center Grove! Andy groups represent!

vocals weren't that great, but not terrible.
the ballad.. i wasn't a fan of.. but thats burroughs for you.. going against the norm.
i loved the costumes.. the female soloist in the fourth (i think) song was very screamy. the choreo had its moments.
