first off, thank you juan for saying that i am nice...that makes me ....ha ha ha
and YAY!!!! im so glad i got to meet katie (and other fun vista ppl) cuz yeah, VISTA ROCKS MY CHARACTER HEELS AND CAPEZIO TIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL....
sadness to treble cats for the TOC thing....i didn't know that they had timed tear-down and set-up that year, but i guess they used to....i know they don't do it anymore....but yeah.....
oh and brittni, i have YET to see o-side's show...i've been in the same venue as your group FOUR TIMES!!!!!! hopefully SOMEDAY i will see how awesome you guys are.....BTW, your lil pink dresses are SOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!!
olive juice,
natasha
I.S. you know the group with the white wrist thing and blue wrist thing.....yeah....i want those!!!!!
Who all went to the competition at Ramona? I did and I know I had a lot of fun. It was warm early on, but during the evening the weather was perfect! Ramona did a great job hosting, too and had two awesome groups! Great job! You guys rock!
by the way, i would like to say that Oceanside did absolutely fantabulous. I have never seen them peform so well, and I was really impressed by how they stepped up a notch. I was sad that our own people caused them to be docked more points than anything else.
Thanks Heather
I felt we had a pretty good show too...I think everyone was just in a good mood. It was a really fun day. lol. I'm sorry about the point issue too, but things happen.
I AM confused about one thing tho... on Celebrations score sheet it said 218...and on ours.... 226. O_o. I HIGHLY doubt we came close to beating them... but it seems like something is wrong there.
Vista has ALWAYS had trouble with timing. My frosh year at Fullerton: Showcats got a perfect score...but they were disqualified for time. TOC my soph year- Treble Cats would have one first but they were docked for time. It happens to us so much...
I understand that Celebration is unhappy about being docked for time. I know how it feels...trust me. :/ I'm sorry. ;_;
Anyways, the competition was awesome! Thank you soooo much Ramona peeps...you ROCK!
Oceanside's show is really cute. YAY, I met people! (Adrian )
by the way, i would like to say that Oceanside did absolutely fantabulous. I have never seen them peform so well, and I was really impressed by how they stepped up a notch. I was sad that our own people caused them to be docked more points than anything else.
and celebration people... you were overtime in more than one aspect. you were overtime in your band setup and your show performance, therefore causing to be docked for ONE, not both, which you are lucky for. I personally asked mr. woods if you would be docked for OT, and he said no, so I relayed the message, not realizing you had been over on both.
what do you mean overtime on both? why is the band set up and showtime 2 differnt times....the thing is we have never had a problem with telling the timer that were set. The timer should not argue with the director when they say that their group is set.
lastly, i just wanna say that these thoughts are completely my own, so please do not hold them against any other members of celebration. i just wanted to kinda clear up the whole timing thing and WHY i think a lot of celebrationers are sad about the results of the competition. it was all just one big misunderstanding, so i think one big GROUP HUG will solve it all...are you ready?!?!?!?!?!
olive juice,
natasha
I.S. shout out to the awesome vista people i got to meet last night!! y'all are so sweet! and our hosts were GREAT!!!!!!! thanks for all your help!!!
Natasha sometimes i think you are too nice..but youre also the sweetest nicest girl I know....(except for Denise)...{so she wont get mad}.. ;)

I think Celebration was robbed!!!
Only thing that killed them is that they went over their time
we all did, well at least I know the treblecats did.
well, I just spoke with my director and according to the score sheets vista did not go overtime. to be exact they were 19 minutes and 46 seconds from set up to tear down. so if you guys did go overtime then you didnt get docked points for it. As for Celebration we got docked 25 points for being 51 seconds overtime. Which was completely not our fault because as far as im conserned when we say set we mean that were set. But the timers were having issues understanding that. And we were told that we werent going to get docked for being overtime. Suspicious no? I think that this was a very unorganized and unprofessional competition. We were told that the competition started at 6 and yet it started around 5:00-5:30. And we tied Vista for showmanship but yet they gave it to Vista. There are many more things i could complain about but I am going to choose not to because its not really worth it. but good job to my Celebration-ers! We did our best!
well technically, mr. woods said that the girls group was over by 15 seconds.
they were going to dock them 20 points for it. I was standing right there, but he said not to.
But then again, your set AND your set up took too long, so complaining over something as simple as that is retarded, as how can that look suspicious, when it was 51 seconds. thats almost a full minute. That can't all possibly be our fault, and you are rather lucky that was all you were docked for. You got to do your warmups, and everything like you wanted, we started after 5:30, so there really wasn't anything to complain about considering that you still got third. You didn't docked for being OT on both accounts, so my statement was true, and CAME FROM THE DIRECTOR. if you find this suspicious, then I'm going to account it for you being upset that you didn't get first.
Honestly you are not someone from our group to say weather or not we are upset about not taking first, no offense. Anyways Celebration had a good show and we are proud of it so it really wouldn't matter if we took first or not. Yes our set up and tear down was bad but for your stage manager to tell us that we arn't ready (when in fact we were) is not our fault our techs are under our risers our whole show so when a group's director says they are ready they mean we are ready. We shouldn't be told we arn't ready by someone who doesn't even know our show! I feel that that whole situation should have gone into consideration conserning our time score.
Congrats to Vista!!! Woot! Woot! this has nothing to do with you guys. I didn't see your show but I'm sure you deserved your trophy! <3 ya!
Oh and I really think that this topic should be droped befor people start to get really agrivated with eachother!
hey y'all....this is natasha from celebration.....i just wanted to say that um.....
it SEEMS like there is a little tension in this topic!! ......i think a lot of celebration people are really sad that we got third because according to the score sheet, we tied vista for show and were 2 points behind them in music. i think that a lot of us are hurting inside knowing that we were docked 25 points cuz of the overtime thing.
and like personally, i was a little saddened by the situation backstage cuz we told the people timing us that we were set, but they told us that we weren't set because there were techies under the risers. i think there was a little bit of a misunderstanding because i think that they SAID that they kept timing until the crew moved. cuz we had told them that we were set and one of the timer people said that they wouldn't stop time till the techies moved, even though they are supposed to be under the risers as part of our show. i don't know if they really did time us for that, but because the timer person said they WERE, a lot of us were kinda disgruntled (yay for the big word, LOL)....
as for teardown, now THAT was hectic cuz earlier in the day, we were told to just get offstage as fast as possible, so we did, except the people backstage told us to get of stage left after a whole bunch of us were carrying stuff off to stage right. it was a MAJOR traffic jam!!! so yeah, that was saddening as well.
all in all however, the competition is done and over with and me being vista's #1 fan (which i proudly am!!), i'm happy they took first. but i know that our group is definetely gonna make sure to NEVER go overtime again, which i think is a good lesson to be learned if there be a lesson to be learned in this experience.
lastly, i just wanna say that these thoughts are completely my own, so please do not hold them against any other members of celebration. i just wanted to kinda clear up the whole timing thing and WHY i think a lot of celebrationers are sad about the results of the competition. it was all just one big misunderstanding, so i think one big GROUP HUG will solve it all...are you ready?!?!?!?!?!
