Y does everyone count out Huntington I just want to know the reasons that's it

Huntington North is due for their best show this year.

I've always said Huntington North is the most Unpredictably amazing choir. One week they won't place, the next week they'll beat CG, Mtz, FC, and BD...

Every year they have ONE show that is pretty unbeatable, and they still haven't had it. SO if they bring it really hard in finals, they COULD be top 3.

All we can use to base our predictions on right now, are RESULTS. HN has not had a very good year... though they did beat Laf Jeff, i don't think that gives them as much clout as Carmel sweeping captions at both competitions they've been to, FC's 2 GCs and 2 1RUs, or NC's what, 5 state titles or so, and being a consistent national finalist.

I have heard that NC's revamped show is AMAZING. I have heard that they have changed a lot of their questionable choreography and have really stepped up their game. They are definitely going to be the group to watch during ISSMA. I already liked their show and now I think it is going to be one of the best shows. If they have had these two weeks to work on just their set, they are bound to be amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if they made finals.

everyone has "stepped up their game" for State
..it's State

I think as far as the women's division goes we're probably going to see

GC: Carmel (vocals and choreo)
1ru: North Central
2ru: Franklin Central (Gotta give my props to the ladies for winning that Fame competition!!! WOO HIGH VOLTAGE!!!)

I think High Voltage will come in as 1RU over the Descants this year. I realize that the Descants have already beaten them this year at BD but I feel that the judging will be different and put FC over NC. I think that High Voltage should have won that competition. They are very very talented this year. Their vocals are amazing!

"Wah wah, so-and-so has smoke and mirrors and props in their show because they're richer than my choir" :::

A lot of choirs use a lot of this. A lot of choirs don't. Sometimes these things get in the way of a good show. Sometimes they add to a good show. It all depends.

I personally like when the choir focuses on the choreography visual itself without the use of props because it showcases their raw talent better. I just think a lot of times props can get in the way and eat into the performance time a lot leaving little time for the actual technical aspect of the choreography.

Also, I think bringing money usage into play is rather ridiculous and petty. Lets talk about the talent of these groups.

There are so many great groups going to this competition and I am very excited to see basically all of them live.

To all those arguing/whining/etc about whose the best :

Getting good scores and/or winning is always nice, but really you have to think about how hard every choir works no matter what their show is, because that's what really gets scored, and as long as everyone in any choir does their absolute best, then it should be a completely fair and amazing competition !

"Wah wah, so-and-so has smoke and mirrors and props in their show because they're richer than my choir" :::

The more props and effects there are, the harder it is to clean and crew and set up so there is more room for disaster and it looks bad if a cool visual effect fails, so the kids working hard on that show have to trust each other even more.

and I don't think very many groups at state are using these sorts of things anyway

+ + In my experience of being judged in more than just show choir, the ISSMA score sheets were not made to judge anyone's show for content, they are meant to analyze the performance by the students, so all of you get out there and do your show, whatever it is, as best you can ( ! ), mk?

im thinking............

LARGE MIXED DIVISION

GC:Carmel "Ambassadors" (Vocals, Visuals) - Sounds like they have an amazing
show again this year, and I would be suprised if one of the other groups takes them...
1RU:Franklin Central "FC Singers" - Solid show, they sing and dance well, just don't know they they will have the precision that Carmel will have.
2RU:North Central "Counterpoints" - Sounds like they're having a bit of an off year...they could suprise and place on top, but I put them 3rd based off of what i've heard.

SMALL MIXED DIVISION
GC:Dekalb "Classic Connection" (Vocals, Visuals) - Should easily dominate this division. They sing just as well as they dance this year... and usually hold their own against larger schools. They could probably be a top competitor in the large mixed division, as they have been in the past.
1RU: Plainfield "Belles et Beaux" - Another excellent group that sings and dances well...even at a standard for larger schools. I just don't think they will offer as tight of a show as Dekalb.
2RU:Churubusco "New Era" or Columbia City "City Heat" - I dont know anything about the rest of the small division, just making a guess.

LARGE LADIES DIVISION

GC:Carmel "Accents" (Vocals, Visuals) - They really are just far and above all of their competition.
1RU:North Central "Descants" - Excellent group, again just probably not as tight as the Carmel ladies.
2RU:Lawrence Central "Sweet Sensations" - They seem to place pretty consistantly every year.

SMALL LADIES DIVISION

I really don't know anything about any of these groups, but since plainfield dosn't have a ladies group I would guess that the Dekalb ladies will win with vocals and visuals.

Sad to say it, but most of the people interested in small school predictions are in one of the nine small school choirs, and we're biased. Probably won't find too many.

I would really like to know about the small schools. Its not that the larger schools don't care, its just that we don't know much about them. Me personally, I only know of DeKalb and Plainfield. If I wasn't a former member of one of the groups, I'd be at the small comp for sure!!

Does anyone know how much tickets are going to COST??

Cost is $13 for adults, $11 for children for prelims and the same for finals. No discount for buying tickets for both sessions.

ISSMA sets the price, host school has no control. (So don't shoot the messenger)

Why does everyone hate on Carmel? I went to ISSMA last year and heard people actually boo Carmel. Let's face it they are VERY good.

Its like the Yankees in baseball, the Cowboys in football, the Lakers in basketball. If your very successful over a long period of time, people start to resent that and rebel against, even "hate" their success. I, though, am an admirer of those who can be on top in this crazy scene for so long.

So as I was reading all the hates on Carmel I was thinking, if Carmel is so gay and all this crap at least they bring home hardware and can bring home State Titles. So, what they are good. Why can't they be. Just because you arn't in the group. Can't you just be happy that you get to participate in show choir?

think the top 3 womens groups will be LC, Carmel, NC. ( not in any particular order)

thats the way it went in 07, 08. it interesting how LC sweets sensations has gotten third the past 4yrs and no one ever seems to count them in the mix. they are realy good this year an each year the've been closer and clser to descants so i think it may be their yr to atleast get them.

and accents are always good but i think its someone elses turn!!

Just found out WC may have all their people...

There is a gap between 1st semi, and 2nd semi round. If the timing is right at speech, they would have time to leave North Central, get to Lawrence central on time, perform, then go back to speech. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I really hope warren can bring their A game saturday.

1. WOW! They let members of their choir do speech team? Nobody at Plainfield even bothered because of all the Show Choir conflicts haha.

Yeah, I know a lot of schools that do that. Mr Podgorski (choir) and Mr Black (Speech) have an agreement that connection will get all of the students that are in both for any conflicts. Except for speech sectionals and state. The conflict at state has never happened before, so it sucks. They'll still rock it out!!
