Um... fyi...

2006: Lawrence Central DIDN'T PLACE. Warren Central 4TH PLACE.
2007: Lawrence Central got 3rd. Warren Central got 5th.
2008: Lawrence Central DIDN'T PLACE. Warren Central 4TH PLACE!

Out of 3 years, Warren placed better than LC 2/3 times!!!

So 2007 was the only time EVER that Lawrence Central has beaten Warren Central at State. I'm not trying to be rude, but just know what you're talking about before you post things like that.

thats great good job thnx for correctin me i ddnt kno places so yea an cs got 3d in 2005 as well but it doesn really matter tho ive explained the mishap from 06 so yeah. i love warrens vocals so no dis to them in anyway. an we did place 7th an 8th thats a place its not top 6 but still good considerin the amount of great choirs in indian. state contest is great only wen many good groups go so 2008 was the best one of the that have happened. i kinda feel that its a little pointless t have it wen some of the best choirs are not going eg cg, hn, caramel etc. i never wanted to go back after 2006 wen there was a mishap that was the fault of the workers but it wasn't corrected until later in the competition. anyway warren has steadily improved evert year and has awesome vocals jus dry choreo. they deserved their place last yr an should have probably won vocals cause i honestly think they out sang NC, HN, and Carmel. but judges actually had CS in 4th vocally behind carmel, hn, ad nc. we had bad visual scores that gave us the 8th place.

ISSMA will be very interesting this yr and the entire season will be controversial. i woud love to see a contest with nc, hn, cg, john burrouhs (cali), burbank (cali) wabonsie valley (illionois) central sound, tayes valley, attache', wc, pike, plainfield and many great choirs to really see not only indiana groups but national ones. that would be an awesome contest and would be really close sp this yr

north central, cg, pike, wc all are great choirs with great attitudes and good luck to all!!!!!! (man i miss competin)

lc has placed 3'd twice 7th and 8th wen we placed 7th in 2006 we had jus came off a huge win at mic wen we performed at ball state the mics were not on an we couldn here soloists an the band couldn hear so they played louder and everything was off bd and other groups had that same issue thats one of the reasons that issma stopped havin state there and why the first group to perform can do warm ups on stage at state we were expectred to beat cp that yr but it jus ddnt work out and last yr we jus had blance issues and we ddnt want it enough as a group.

I'm sorry... what? There was not one single punctuation mark in that entire paragraph. haha

my opinion (not a fact) is that LC is great but i wouldnt necessarily classify the win over pike as holistically impressive.

You are very right! CS's win over Pike @ Warren wasn't holistically impressive. Especially when you consider that it was both groups first contest. CS didn't even win captions at Warren. CS's show has vastly improved since Warren, four weeks ago and I'm sure that Pike has seen improved their show. It's hard to compare groups at a contest where the point totals in finals were so close and it was the first time out for both groups. Honestly, can you make a true/fair assesment of whose better? At Warren, CS did something a bit better than Pike and came away with the win, end of story. What I think speaks bigger volumes is that both groups won their respective contests the following weekend.

Has Pike gone to the bigger competitions, I think its fair to say yes! Historically, CS makes a habit if supporting contests/schools that they like and have great music relationships with. CS could've gone to BD but chose CG's invitational as they have been going there every season since 2004. CS has worked hard to grow their show each week and show improvement in every aspect. It just so happens that they have won GC's in the process. CS knew going into the season that the last 3 weeks of it would be the toughest from a competition standpoint and thus, are making the necessary moves to be prepared for that.

I don't get into the prediction thing (publicly, anyway) but ISSMA 2009 will be interesting because the season so far has proved to be interesting!

Did ISSMA already happen or something? I thought predictions were just people's opinions...

Everybody isn't going to agree. Indiana schools see each other at a lot of different places, results will change from week to week. Someone might predict your school 1st, and someone else might not even have them in finals.. it's just a guess.

So let me make sure I'm clear on this - When Pike wins at Ben Davis, you and many others talk about how great their show is and how they are going to be one of the groups to beat at state this year, but when LC beats Pike at Warren, the phrase is "barely beat pike" like beating pike is no big deal. Which way do you want it? If Pike has a great show this year and LC wins a competition against Pike isn't it an "impressive" win?

LC has competed at three competitions this year and came out with a Grand Championship at each one. We don't control who else comes to the competition, and these are competitions we have a history of supporting. What I do know is this:

This year in competitions LC has beaten Pike, Ben Davis (2x), Center Grove, Castle, Plainfield, Mooresville (2x), Norwell, Mundelein, Danville, and more. We haven't competeted against Warren Central, North Central, FC, or Carmel but it isn't like LC is ducking the competition.

The fact is all these schools are great and anyone can beat another on a given night, it just seems that when LC wins people tend to go out of their way to discount it and when others win a competition, they just get congratulations.

ive said b4, LC is impressive and very good. im merely saying that winning is winning, yes, i agree and i respect that and i give them props for that. but some talk as though they are dominant...which, at least in the case of the win against pike, isnt true. i cannot speak for their other wins. and if someone was to look back through past years' forums, they would see that i have always been an avid supporter of LC because they always entertain me and some of my very good friend are in CS and sweets. Remember, this is an opinion forum, not a "everyone must speak fact at all points in time" forum. my opinion (not a fact) is that LC is great but i wouldnt necessarily classify the win over pike as holistically impressive.

all the choirs that will be competing at this event are amazingly talented and their success anywhere and everywhere should be acknowledged and respected. My personal dark horse right now is Brownsburg. they have quietly won two contests the past two weekends...whos talking about them? Edit: At least LC is in conversations.

i believe scott is referring to the other competitions this year...in which case i agree with him...them winning at CG wasnt that impressive and they barely beat pike at Warren...so i agree with scott...besides the win over CG, their other GCs havent been that impressive (however, winning any competition is impressive and should be respected)

I am basing this prediction not only off of how choirs have placed this year, but how state has ran in the past. I could be wrong about FC, based off state last year. But they are amazing this year. I was not a big fan of LCs show. I know how the judges rank at state, and I don't believe they will be on top of Pike, Warren, North Central, Franklin Central or any other choirs I put above them. LC has always done incredible during the year, but have fallen short at state. Also, at warren centrals competition, warren would have won. When a group performs expedition, they get ranked as if they were competing as well. I know the director personally, so I know the results. Warren would have gotten 1st vocally and 2nd or 3rd visually. All of the choirs I put on top are incredible. They all have a history of making changes and overcoming any bad placing they had during the year. You are more than welcome to make your own predictions, but this is my prediction of how state will work out. We'll see in a couple weeks!!

Not especially. I have a feeling that you don't understand my reasoning. The word is "granted." Not "grant it." I've seen you use "grant it" more than once I felt it was my duty to help you out.

Well no it's not quite like that... LC has had a few good runs, but ultimately ranks in the lower part of the top 10 in indy more often than not... They haven't really been to any tough competitions yet either... sooooo

Does anyone know where we might find a list of the which choirs are in which division? Thanks for the help!

The list won't be posted until next Sunday (I believe) since there is still one more weekend of qualifier competition(s).

First off your right it's your opinion and you are entitled to it. As for the WC competition, keep this in mind. Warren Central pays the judges to work the competition, the judges want to keep in good standing with the directors to get referrals / asked back it's not the greatest situation for an honest placement. Many schools including LC can say well we would have won our competition if we had been competiting. Look at WC's performances in the competitions they did go to.

From what I see on this board, LC must be the most underestimated undefeated choir in the state.
