I just want to thank everybody from Petal and from the other show choirs as well..... I am from Tupelo and feel honored that everybody was as excited as our show as we were. It was a great competition.... I want to thank Albertville though especially for being so nice to us... They waited for every single member of tupelo to walk back to the door and applauded every single one of us. I thought that was so special. It was our last competition of the season and my last performance for show choir ever because I am graduating and it was such a great way to end it all! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I completely agree...I am just a junior but thank you to the hosts and everyone who was involved! It was a great competition! Albertville, everyone of you are amazing! It was so nice of you all to do that for us it is great to compete against such a great group like you and I can't wait to see you next year!

I just want to say that every group that performed last night did an outstanding job in finals and deserved to be there. Northeast, I really enjoyed your show and thought that you should have made finals. Yall have really improved since South Jones invitational. But to my group, "South Jones" Y'all were amazing during finals! I knew the minute that y'all walked out on stage that y'all were there to entertain and that is just what y'all did. Even though y'all had the disadvantage of performing 1st, the crowd loved every minute of it. Y'all were so energized and looked like y'all were having so much fun up there, and thats what it is all about. Y'all may not have won Grand Champion, but I am as proud of y'all as if you did. Awesome performance, "Company" !

AA Division Preliminary standings were:
1st: Albertville
2nd: Tupelo
3rd: Homewood
4th: South Jones
5th: West Jones
6th: Northeast Jones
----------------------------------------------------
My thoughts:

West Jones- "Imagination" has made tremendous strides not only over the past few years, but within this season as well. Choreography is cleaner, band is outstanding, and you are quickly putting together all the pieces to become a powerhouse in the South. Vocals seem to be a bit lacking, but you'll get there. You've begun putting together a Finals streak that cannot be ignored; looking forward to great things from you all in the future!

Homewood- Your Finals performance last night was your best overall performance of the season (and congrats to Miss Morrison on making the Solo Finals ;) ). When watching you all in Finals, I felt that you might very well take this competition; very clean choreography, phenomenal vocals, and you made very few mistakes overall. Unfortunately for you, it seems that Tupelo, Albertville, and South Jones did just as you did, giving their best and most mistake-free performances of the year at Petal Finals. No reason for disappointment in your placement as far as I'm concerned; it was one of the best "Network" performances I've seen in recent years. We loved every minute of it!

Albertville- Did not get to see you, but was not surprised to see you in 1st place after Prelims; you were great the last time I saw you, and I hear you've made changes to your show that have made it even better than before. And as always, you were all so fun to be around. Congrats on your high placement!

Tupelo- You flat out out-sang everyone else at this competition; it was refreshing to see that the results of the competition reflected this. In addition, your choreography was very complimentary to your vocals, and was executed to near perfection. Your band projected very well, and both your energy and individual performances were unmatched. The only real mistake that I could see was that your pacing seemed to be a little bit off. You allowed your show to "peak" a bit too early, and allowed your energy and vocals to slip a fraction in your closer. However, I'm not sure it mattered at that point, as the crowd (and probably the judges too) had already decided where you should place. Congrats on your Grand Championship, and one of the single best performances by any show choir in recent years.

Oh, and congrats to SJ for winning best band.

WOW! Petal was so much fun! Congratulations to Tupelo on their Grand Championship! Their show was amazing! I loved the ballad song choice and I loved "Jump, Jive, & Wail". Their energy was incredible as well.

West Jones - your performance yesterday was the best I've seen this season! Your show is one of my favorites!

Jackson Prep - It was a joy to see you yesterday. I want to welcome you to the world of competitive show choir and I have great expectations for yall in the years to come.

Petal - yall were great hosts! Thank you for everything. Fantastic exhibition show as well!

Congrats to Jackson Prep on a great show. Loved the ballad and you all did great to be first year as competition SC. Look forward to big things from you. Also, congrats to Centerstage! for a great year, as this wrapped up your "regular" competitions. It has been a thrill to be there with you and to see the show morph to be "the" show everyone talked about and couldn't wait to see.

I wasn't there for prelims, but Tupelo's Finals performance was one of the best performances I have ever seen. They came out strong vocally, and their choreography was killer (though they had a few more lifts than necessary, in my opinion...).
I was amazed with the vocal quality of Tupelo given the intense dancing-- and the entire audience was riveted the whole time. The Tupelo group was actually seated in front of me while they waiting for the final decision, and one member made the comment, "Win or lose, we will always have what we did up there."
That comment really impressed me with their group, and I could not agree more with Tupelo's placement.
Albertville's vocals blew the crowd away during the ballad, as always; however, the difference between Albertville and Tupelo was evident-- Tupelo's choreography went above and beyond Albertville's with even better vocal quality.
South Jones: your backdrops looked SOO much better this time than at South Central-- congratulations!
Homewood: you continue to improve and I am so very proud of you
West Jones: I like the concept of your show a lot-- however, I believe so much would be added if you could work your vocals a little more-- ESPECIALLY in the opener, I couldn't really understand what you were singing--

Again, congratulations to all groups, and to Tupelo-- you deserved it!!

Well let me say this to all who were concerned about the judging all week. It didn't turn out to be a problem as the best group at Petal won, and that group was Tupelo. It was one of the most complete performances by a single show choir group I think I have been privileged to watch. High energy from start to finish and great soloists, even the judges were on their feet toward the end. All the wailing and complaining about judges, as I thought was a waste of time. There have not been very many competitions I have seen where nobody had a question which group deserved to win, tonight was one of those competitions.

Tupelo's Finals performance was one of the best I've ever seen. Wow. I thought Albertville should have won Best Vocals though. I'll say more tomorrow, I'm on my way home from Petal and on my blackberry.

I wasn't personally there myself, but I have a contact who is a parent of one of the students and she told me that both Albertville & Tupelo kick it up a notch in finals. And just like last week at Belmont, it was another close call. Except this week it went Tupelo's way. But all things considered, I heard it was a great competition. Congrats to Tupelo & I know that Albertville should feel good about another job well done. Congrats to my group!
