GINW is directed by a man referred to as Shack (his last name is difficult to pronounce -- Sackschewsky), and is choreographed by Katie Dicicco and Ryan McCarthy (same choreographers as ATSC).
Millard West is directed by Kathy Simpson, choreographed by Melanie Walters, Chris Crisler, Gene Bastarache, and Amanda Simpson (daughter of the director I think). Their show is...
Light at the End of the Tunnel
Mississippi Squirrel (novelty)
Momma Who Bore Me
Office Krupke
Once Upon a Time
Rhythm in Me
(I think that is the right order but am not sure, they changed it up since Gretna)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the change was once upon a time then officer krupke then momma who bore me? And by the way our room was right next to their's and I have to say they are some amazingly nice people. High fives and all.

Don't get me wrong, GINW is good, but nothing I've ever seen from them before was mitchell/totino good! I'm pumped to see their show at our competition next saturday! Hopefully they give westside a run for their money. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
Competitions are always so much more interesting when it's not an easy win for a group.
and 7 by two points, good ol' Gretna.
we love missing finals by a few points every year. haha.
I was at Gretna and saw your exhibition performance and also saw you guys today. There has been some great improvement and I think your season will go very well. It's a good show. I have always liked Ribar too, starting back when he critiqued my 7th grade show choir at UNO. Good luck to you guys.
Wow congrats to GINW for the GC! I know Omaha Westside doesn't announce the placements just finalists during the day, but does anyone know what the prelim results were?
I am very proud of GINW! i loved them last year and this year
before prelims though... even though they weren't competing.. ATSC practically dominated!
but everyone was so much better in finals!
Millard West is a group for West Omaha, they are directed by Kathy Simpson and Mr. Dugdale...not sure of his first name.
They also had the best hosts at the entire competition (me).
Millard West and Grand Island NW are both Nebraskan groups, that rarely compete outside Western Iowa or Nebraska. I'm not entirely certain who directs them or who choreographs them, but it seems like GINW is building on what was a good show last season. Good job!
Maybe Cohagen has more info on these schools?
GINW is directed by a man referred to as Shack (his last name is difficult to pronounce -- Sackschewsky), and is choreographed by Katie Dicicco and Ryan McCarthy (same choreographers as ATSC). This year they open with a Mary Poppins Medley, go into My Song (ballad), then Hey Juliet as a guys number, and Let the Glory Come Down as a closer. The girl who plays Marry Poppins took Best Female Soloist during daytime. At Gretna two weeks ago they placed 1st-RU to Hastings, and while I agreed with hastings winning that one I believe GINW was a very close 2nd. Their high school only has about 600 students. As far as I can tell the will compete at Lincoln Southwest, Grand Island Senior High, and I would assume Lewis Central.
Quote from their website...
"With a second place victory under their belts, the group is ready to face the competition next week at Omaha Westside. “There are always tough teams at Westside but we’re competing a lot differently than last year,” says junior member Kara Purdy. Members of the show choir feel like they are a step up in the competition this year, with a new sound and new expectations. Chris Linke, head stage manager for choirs and 14 Karat, says he’s expecting both show choirs to do very well this year--a step up--and hopefully beat some groups that they were “on the fence” against last year. "
Edit: made it back to lincoln so i can perform tomorrow morning, so i figured i could post a little more.
congrats to all!!! i am proud of you totino!!! however, and i hope i do not offend anyone, but i have never heard of the millard or grand island groups? fun to see other groups shakin things up. any history on those 2 groups and where they are from, directors, choreographers, etc.???
