Agreed on hurring that schedule up. I need to decide if I am going to make the trip to Opelika or Homewood this year!!!
Homewood always has a great competition and since I don't know who's going, I can't make a comparison. All I can say is that Opelika is going to be a MUST watch competition. I think it would be worth the commute!
This has always been my FAVORITE competition. It seems to me that the audience at Opelika is wilder than anywhere else. Also, the stage is awesome! I remember when there were no finals at this competition, so it was like a one shot deal. I liked that because you only had one time to unload and load the truck, change in and out of uniform, fix hair, etc. and just the fact that you had ONE chance to sell the show was just so intense (in a very cool way). I also wish they would bring group pictures back. They always took the best group photos. I do, however, like the addition of homerooms. Darren (with 2 r's?) Dale has really brought some improvements to this competition. This upcoming season will be the first time in 6 years that I will not be performing on the Opelika stage. I will get to actually watch "CenterStage!" (which will be super weird). I wish the best of luck to all the competing groups at Opelika, especially my "CenterStage!" and now "CenSations!"
I can confirm that Mt. Zion is NOT coming to Southern Showcase. I can, however, also confirm that a different MidWest Show Choir is making the trip. I've seen the schedule, but since there is a small scheduling issue that needs to be resolved, it hasn't been releases to the public.
I will say this though... this competition is going to be ginourmatrongantic!!!! Just wait for the schedule... it's going to be crazy.
looking at the swingsations website, it doesn't show that Mt. Zion will be attending this competition.
I don't think they are. I have a friend in Mt. Zion and I'm pretty sure she said they aren't doing any southern competitions this year. That might've changed though.
And I'm pretty sure Gold Horizons isn't going either.
