In all honesty, time slots really don't mean anything. You have too early of one, you complain that your singers aren't awake/warmed up and you try to wow the judges by saying "Look at us, we can do awesome at 6am." You get a late time slot and while a lot of people think that's the best thing in the world to be last, but you honestly have a lot to live up to if the group(s) ahead of you have been pretty spectacular. Not to mention making sure your group saves their voices and that they eat the right things so nerves or whatever doesn't do funny things to their tummies, etc, etc. I don't agree that they should be based on how well you did the year before, if anything, they should be based on how timely your director gets their material submitted to the organizers.

It is incentive for a group to want to come back to where they did well.

If you made finals and come back the next year why not be placed at a later time? Its a smart move that people who plan the competition should use.

I agree completely... It's retarded when you go to a competition, get 3rd, come back next year and find out you have to compete at 10:30. It really makes you never want to come back to a competition, like they don't appreciate your group.

I'm just saying...It's just a schedule. I don't like groups being placed in order of the results from last year or their "skill" level. I think the schedule should be random by class.

How is 1:55 "a worse time".

You're right... five minutes difference is not that big of a deal. They're in the same slot they had last year, probably. But, my point is, they should be ahead of groups like North. Heck, I would have put them last in the day for not getting to compete in finals last year.

Just my thoughts, though.

So, Sauk Prairie comes to "Great River" last year, makes finals, but didn't compete in it due to lousy weather... but gets a worse time this year?
Lame.

I agree. It's good to see Bettendorf getting their name out there as well! I love their choir name "Surround Sound" Very cool.

and what is a prep group doing going at 4 in the afternoon? Okay, 3:55, but still.

Yeah? I'm guessing with that there must be some accommodations for speech or something?
