As for "Africa", we did it for fun and in honor of the 2007 GC... also to make Brett sing on stage, which was forced on him so suddenly! Thanks Brett for being a sport and singing with Chula!

i thought africa was freakin' amazing! how long did that take to learn?? i cant imagine you had much free time to learn it, but it was clean and sounded great!

haha k im gonna end this before it becomes another tangent.

Mr. A - FANTASTIC competition. Beautiful location, wonderful venue, awesome choirs, amazing hosts, and of course a gorgeous host director.

p.s. I was so glad you stepped up to sing the last part of the Africa solo. I didn't want to hear Carroll butcher that high part. Well done.

I wasn't going to say anything, but after that last post I just have to....

Mr. Carroll's "performance arc" during his solo was very beautiful. Tell me if you agree with my take on it: He started out with a roar from the audience which lifted his first few notes and basted them to a golden brown perfection. Then, after the initial cheer settled, he had a second -- just a second -- of doubt; you could HEAR him wondering, "do I really have to DO this?" Then, after that instant, as the really high notes were nearing, a palpable "oh, crap, I guess I do!" settled over his demeanor, and he went on to raise his energy, seemingly effortlessly, to the stratospheric levels required. It was quite inspiring, really.

Just my take.
Dan

I laughed.. only because I enjoy humor as twisted as this...

/slap

Life is too good (and too short) to be all bent out of shape over something as little as this... (short and little referring to time and significance as opposed to me being vertically challenged)

Too many unhappy people in this world look for excuses to say NEGATIVE things to make them feel better...(Just look at some of the unwarranted posts) I try to stay away from these types, and you should too!

I have heard (and now seen) that several people have accused me of "rigging" the competition...

Do you actually believe I have the fricken time to fix a competition with ALL the things I NEED to do in order to make this work??? Judges, Lighting, Sound, Hosts, The Venue, Parents, Union stage hands, Seating arrangements, tickets, programs, schedule - - 2 theaters actually, scoring sheets, recorders.... OMG.. I can go on...

You think too much of me if you think I am that good in rigging the competition so that I can choose the winners... (advice... careful what you say in your myspace posts... my students know your friends, and next thing you know, the whole world knows how unhappy you are...)

As for "Africa", we did it for fun and in honor of the 2007 GC... also to make Brett sing on stage, which was forced on him so suddenly! Thanks Brett for being a sport and singing with Chula! Unfortunately, those "unhappy" people, again... like to say bad things about our rendition of Africa.... sigh... We did it for FUN people! Not to win any awards, of which we are NOT eligible anyway, cause it is OUR competition...

In the words of Bobby McFerrin

"Don't Worry... Be Happy"

There are way too many people on here that have the name Taylor. Even another "Taylor B." I guess i forgive you all for that, it's not REALLY your faults.

And to everyone else, sorry you are forced to deal with this confusion.

My heartfelt regards,

Taylor Barlow
