Burbank, I'm so proud of you guys and the awesome job you did Saturday. It was great seeing you all at Young Frankenstein, rehearsing with you on Friday and spending the day with you at the contest. Thanks to the support of all the alums, parents, singers, band and most of all, Brett Carroll.
Your show in finals was simply amazing, and Impressions really did a great job. What a great weekend: 4 awesome musicals, visiting with friends and former students, having my family with me for 5 days in NYC,...and a great showing at FAME! God Bless, Damon
I've got tickets to see Young Frankenstein in the summer. How is it?
Did everyone enjoy Jones Onstage from Jones County Junior College from Mississippi? I saw them at the South Jones competition back in January, and they were awesome!!
Honestly, I would not have wanted to be a judge of that competition. I only saw the final three, but each group was really good. All of the groups that I saw were energetic, sounded amazing, had pretty clean and creative choreography.
However, Burbank definitely set themselves apart from the other groups. Something about their performance... seemed more engaging than the other two. I also like the design of their show the best. Manchester had an amazing sound overall (really pure and blended), and a few wardrobe malfunctions. DeKalb's ballad was amazing; their extremely supportive group of parents, however, went from being really cute and supportive to incredibly distracting, which took away from their kids performance from an audience member's perspective (don't get me wrong, parents support is great, but the cheering etc... shouldn't rival that of what goes on at a football game during the performance.)
Special "props" to Burbank btw, whose group performed, walked off the stage and immediately sat down in the audience, front and center, to watch the last group perform, quietly and supportively. They really showed what show choir should be all about. (Manchester might have done the same, but I happened to be sitting right next to Burbank, so I noticed them lol.)
Overall, really strong performances from each of the groups.
Oh, and Jones OnStage was pretty good. It was interesting seeing a group that size perform where everyone had a mic. I think the mix was a bit off, but they also sounded really good and were fun to watch while the judges crunched the numbers.
Being in a smaller show choir from NY (Long Island), I always look forward to these NY competitions, when the "big" show choirs come. I was not disappointed!

That makes 7 Grand Champions to hail from the great state of California in 2008!!!
California is ON FIRE!
Because laughing at peoples' lives being destroyed is something fun to joke about. For shame, Tony Atienza.

did onalaska perform well?
I've heard that they did not have a good performance... their show just couldn't compete with any of the others. They received 5th out of five choirs... placing behind Chantilly.
