Plus, they are the true definition of show choir.  They sing AND dance, and they don't use glitzy props to sell their show.  I think some people in Sullivan need to go to show choir 101 and learn that show choir is not about props...I think they are getting musicals and broadway confused with show chior.

Unfortunately for MTZ....Sullivan sang better, and danced just as good if not better than MTZ at Troy....AND used their set and props to amazing effect...with no problems at all....smooth transitions, and great effects. MTZ simply didn't pull it out....it may be odd, but it happens. And by the way, Clinton, Mississippi is the definition of show choir. My opinion of course...MTZ is definately a staple, along with Onalaska, Center Grove, Sullivan, ect, ect, ect...but I think year after year there isn't competition to Clinton. That's the great thing about show choir...the diversity in groups...even though almost all the choirs out there are predictable; Onalaska's shows are utterly predictable...as are MTZs, as well as Sullivan's. I find myself watching to see which choir does what they do the best out of everyone...because it's different for every group, every year. The honest truth was that Sullivan beat Mt. Zion in a fairly based copetition...with no odd goings on...no directors changing scores...no questionable things happening on stage...just a good old fashioned show choir competition. Those MTZ kids on stage danced their arses off on stage, as they do every year....and kudos to you guys, by the way...you were great. But unfortunately, Sullivan just had it. And I think everyone knew they did before finals was even over...and I think the biggest proof to that is, that if kids, parents and spectators really would have thought something went wrong there....they would have been on this website blasting it OUT OF THE WATER with comments...because that's how things happen. I did the same thing when MTZ got sixth at Danville a few years back...they definately didn't deserve that. But I think I've rambled a bit too long...

Congratulations to both Mt Zion and Sullivan, as well as every other group who made the effort to attend and perform for everyone....it truly was a great competition to watch. Maybe I can come up with some official results with all of the caption awards....the only ones I remember was Best Chor to MTZ...best vocals to Sullivan, and best costumes to Sullivan....the others I don't remember. Sorry.

If you remember correctly, MTZ did the same thing a few years ago....getting sixth at Onalaska....then coming back to win almost every where else they went, including Showstoppers. This just might Sullivan's year.

MTZ will always be my favorite show choir and dream show choir! They probably deserved 1st becuz they are the best out there. I wasn't there...........but I know they did the best they could and maybe the judges weren't impressed w/their show.........but it's my favorite show I've seen all year. I haven't even seen it live yet..................I CAN"T WAIT THO!! I will see Sullivan this weekend to see who I think should have won (I bet it will be MTZ!!) Mt. Zion got ROBBED!!! What were the judges thinking?!?!??! They are awesome this year. (just like every other year!) Plus, they are the true definition of show choir. They sing AND dance, and they don't use glitzy props to sell their show. I think some people in Sullivan need to go to show choir 101 and learn that show choir is not about props...I think they are getting musicals and broadway confused with show chior. Sorry, Mt. Zion. I wish you guys the best of luck in Dekalb.

Well, a show choir can do ALOT in three weeks...
At the MO state Thespian conference in January, Rock Bridge performed. At that time it was not so great (due to problems earlier in the day I think, because they were running late).

Anyway yesterday, even though they didn't make finals or anything... they had pulled alot of their crap together.

Therefore, even if Sullivan was not great 3 weeks ago, the same thing must have happened because they were awesome.

Before finals was even over, I knew they had it. I was blown away.

ohmy.gif <--- like that.

It was unbelievable...but BELIEVE IT!

Sullivan was a mess at MTZ yes....but was not even the same group that took that stage. It was an absolute astonishment to see what that group pulled off. They beat Mt. Zion with no question. Amazing Vocals, great choreography....and the transitions, all were cleaned up. Absolutely fabulous.

Before all of the bashing begins (edit: too late...but that's show choir)... I honestly could not believe it was the same group that got fifth at MTZ. ASTONISHING! MTZ was not robbed, they were beaten. It was close...but Sullivan just sounded excellent and had more energy than I've seen a Sullivan group have in a long time. The ballad was just beautiful.

MTZ just didn't have it tonight....the show seemed a bit lacking in vocals and energy.

Sullivan easily had the best vocals of the day. They weren't, in my opinion, at all ready at MTZ....but boy are they ready now. Mt. Zion goes down in a major upset.....no one saw it coming. Sullivan is going to have an excellent year....what a surprise!

I can not repeat how surprising Sullivan's showing was...after seeing their weak show at Mt. Zion. Honestly, it has to be one of the biggest turn arounds I've 'ever' seen in a group, anywhere. If you see Sullivan anywhere at any other competitions, whoever your group is, I HIGHLY suggest seeing them again....you will most likely be stunned as most people sitting in that gym were. There was no question.

Go Sullivan! AMAZING turn around!!

Sidenote: I'm not sure those results you posted are correct....wasn't there a girl's group in finals? I think it was either MTZ or Sullivan's girls.

Wow. Well there's one competition Mt. Zion has been screwed over at, hopefully next week at Dekalb, they won't have to deal with that. But that's gonna be a very hard competition.

Apparently it was rank judging...and Three judges had MTZ in first and 2 had them in Third. And with Sullivan, Two had them in first, and Three had them in 2nd. So Mount Zion lost by a point, I think.

This has got to be a big joke. I mean, I enjoy Sullivan but if you have seen them this year and Mt. Zion , there is NOOOOOO competition at all. Sullivan was a MESS at Mt. Zion's competition and Mt. Zion is stronger than ever. This has got to be a lie!
