A couple of things. Yes, I'm biased about Opelika (as always), but I hear that they have good vocals, so I'm giving them the nod. I also have a question mark with South Jones. They are always one of my favorites, but I was a little dissapointed by their results in the MidWest competition that they went to (I know there were some good MW choirs competing, but still). We hope to see them bounce back at this competition, that's why I have them on the fringe.
Other choirs that I could easily see in Finals are West Jones, Spain Park, and Northeast Jones. This should be an excellent competition.
Since this is our next competition, I'll go ahead and make finals predictions:
GC: Clinton
1st RU: Enterprise
2nd RU: South Jones
3rd RU: Pascagoula
4th RU: ????
For the 5th spot I want to say that my own group will make Finals, but even though we have improved drastically, we still haven't beaten JA or NE Jones, and I'm sure they've both improved... Plus I haven't seen Spain Park... So that spot is definately a toss up...

I know I am going to sound like a total fatty, but one of the best things about SSC is the AMAZING food they always have. Gosh I always looked forward to that as soon as I would get off the charter bus!
I hope I get to come this year...if me and my friend from Southern still stay at her house that weekend! (crosses fingers!)
i remember they had canned gatorade which i thought was AMAZING.
Although we aren't competiting this time, I will still be there! I would be crazy to pass up an opportunity to see Clinton so close to home. I'm so excited!!!
hey homewood! your favorite host brooks here from south jones ha! always love coming to your competition...even though it goes late it's still a great venue! i cant wait for it in two weeks! it looks like it will be another big one like last year... see you there!

Schedules like this just piss me off.
Would someone from Homewood please explain the point in scheduling a 15 hour day!?! (And we all know how things run long.) Run simultaneous venues, move a class to another Saturday, cut back the number of choirs - anything! - but to make ANYONE sing at 7:30am - let alone HS kids - is outrageous.

We just love show choir so much, that we want to jam pack as many amazing groups as we can into one day. Hope you can come!

This is true, some people just want to have their show choir cake and eat it too...
lol.
how funny.
& i agree..
my choir was in the A division and had to perform at 7 quite a few times...
..all jacked up on coffee..
lol.
but sometimes its just the price you gotta pay..
it always ends up worth it in the end..
Although I completely understand every disadvantage of high school students singing at 7:30 in the morning (been there), I also know that the only other feasible alternative, at least at this point, would be to cut several groups - or an entire division. In an ideal situation, every group would have a late afternoon or evening time slot, but that obviously is not possible. I can say with reasonable certainty that many people would rather compete at an inconvenient time than not at all.

Last year I was part of the group that went on first...it wasn't that bad until the biggest dude in our show choir fell getting on the risers.
Clinton
Enterprise
Opelika
Pascagoula
South Jones
