True, but didn't Papillion-LaVista beat Ralston at Omaha Westside. (and maybe Lincoln SW? I can't remember if Ralston was there) This years results have really proven anyone can do well when they perform well, and groups can have off-nights. These results can really go any way.

It is interesting about Ralston and Papio. I was really impressed my Ralstons vocals when I saw them at Lewis Central on Saturday. I think that Ralston has a really good show, but I also know that Papio has some hard working kids in it that really want to do well. Like you said, it can really go any way.

And one shouldn't leave out Ralston now, who beat Papillion La-Vista at Lewis Central last weekend.

My final predictions:

GC: Mitchell
1RU: Cedar Rapids Xavier
2RU: Bloomington Kennedy
3RU: Lewis Central
4RU: Papillion-LaVista
5RU: Millard West

Best Vocals: Cedar Rapids Xavier
Best Choreography: Mitchell
Best Band: Mitchell (although I would LOVE for Lewis Central to win this. Their band is REALLY underrated)

What times do the solo performances go through? Is it all day or do they end at some point during the day?

Was talking with my director about this one today.. I might actually roadtrip with a couple friends to watch this one. On paper, it seems like it could be one of the best Iowa competitions of the year. So many of the goups have made finals at other competitions.

My Predictions:

GC. Cedar Rapids Xavier
1RU. Mitchell
2RU. Bloomington Kennedy
3RU. Millard West
4RU. Gretna
5RU. Papillion La Vista

You need to come to some better competitions, Derek.

I would love to if I had time...

Had Strollers at USD until March 1st so I never got to get away during the weekends. Hopefully next year

By the way how have you been!?

Bloomington beating Mitchell at Hastings

Mitchell beating Bloomington at Heelan

Add in there Cedar Rapids Xavier, Papillion-LaVista, Bishop Heelan, Lewis Central, and Millard West

things should be interesting...

Saturday can not come fast enough...

Does anyone have an updated schedule since LeMars had to drop?

Sure what? Who was a judge this year in finals that was from Iowa?

Well Dina Else would've been a judge from Iowa, but as you know, she had to go home for finals due to illness. You didn't specify that you were talking about finals, so I thought I would include her, since she did judge in prelims. And this is definitely the first year there has ever been a non-Iowa judging panel in finals, so you can't say "That's the great thing about "Great River". None of the judges are Iowans." because it was not a conscious decision to not have any Iowa judges.

Sadly, LeMars Community 'Crimson and Black' has had to scratch Westwood from their competition schedule due to conflicts involving state speech contest. Nearly half of our group is involved with state speech, which is located just too far from westwood for us to be able to transport them back and forth. I'm actually really depressed about this.

Good luck to everyone

thats a bummer dude.
best of luck to you all at speech
