In response to this matter, I was one of the volunteers in the office at the Beavercreek Invitational and was the person that put the spread sheet together that we used to input the scores. The sheet that was used for the Tech (Stage) Crew was put into a seperate spreadsheet and the points from it did not get added into the overall score, it was strictly on who ever got the most crew points won best crew. It didn't matter how many points you got on that sheet because it did not affect your overall score.
thanks for the clarification i knew that 70pts couldn't be right
i wasnt questioning the qualifications of the judges at all but it was my understanding that the tech crew points were raised to compensate for the loss of david raab, was that why it was worth more than combo or choreo? and also u seem a little tense, calm down i wasnt trying to offend or accuse

Hey, not tense here, I'm too tired still to get there. But there were no points added for tech crew to "compensate" for anything. I think you have seen the score sheet for the best crew (which totalled a max of 70 points) award. Those points were not a part of the points groups received. They were used to compute the best crew.
If I sound concerned, its because a show choir comp lives or dies on its reputation. We will listen to any criticism/concern, but whoever told you the above is just plain wrong. Thanks for coming.
did anyone else find it odd that to make up for the lack of choreo/vocal judges they made tech crew worth 70 points. not to belittle the tech crew or anything but isnt that usually worth 10 points. i know we just received straight 8s on all the tech crew categories and our techies did everything great. that just seems pretty odd to me
Uhmm, we had JD Smith (Vocals), Kevin Manley (Instrumental/combo), Jason Enneking (Individual performer), LaMonte Kuskye (Choreography), and added Darin Haas (vocals) for the finals. I am not sure what "lack" you see there? We originally also had David Raab for Choreo as well, but when he couldn't come we could not find a suitable replacement, so we decided to drop olympic scoring as we didn't have enough judges to afford to throw out the score of two of them. But we had very highly qualified judges, all of whom have either directed a show choir, lead a band, or done extensive choreo or vocal work. Are 5 judges a "lack?" " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" />

Actually I loved the opener most of all.
really, its going to be even cooler because the band was supposed to start out on stage with us during the lifts in the beggining, but we didn't have time during the week to do it, but it will be in the rest of our comps.

oh wow!
Beavercreek was AMAZING!
and all i have to say is that everyone really did bring just what they said they would.
-Deklab did a phenominal job
-Kettering was hilarious and very creative
-Nitro? oh wow, deff not even the same group as last year!
-Edgewood was really good and inovative, however last years show took the cake and that whole over the top individual personality thing worked for last years show but this years lacks warmth
-Northrope was very impressive and did some classic show choir songs that really hit home
and the points? they were SO CLOSE. there was only a 13 point difference between Grand Champs and 4th run! literally like .5 and 1.5 difference between the groups.
and Dekalbs caption awards were greatly deserved their costumes were gorgeous and vocals crazily amazing.
This competition was very surprising! but i'd have to say that most improved is deff nitro. And their vocals were rediculously haunting and had such a depth and richness, and their show was very crisp and very flowing. They ditched the whole theatrical stuff for a very original but still very traditional show. I was very impressed with them.
And Northrope was very good, having only seen them before once i was very satisifed with the consistancty they gave while performing. And their dynamics were killer, especially in the nightime performance. I was so excited to see them in person and they didnt let me down. And the opening number was very interesting and offbeat it was almost strange. But i i loved it and that soloist was amazing, my personal favorite of the day.
what does everyone else think?
thanks for the things u said about northrop. i'm guessin that most people remembered our show for our ballod or our closer.
does anyone happen to know how close it was between northrop and dekalb in the night show?
