No, I don't run the sound. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
Seriously, we have professionals running sound all day, but fear not! They've been coming for awhile, are very attentive and friendly, and are very familiar with show choir. We don't just use alums- these are truly professionals who have experience and training in the field. They set up the sound themselves, they know the equipment inside and out, and we do multiple soundchecks on Friday, and keep a very close ear to how the sound is throughout the day. We do of course encourage each group to send someone to the soundboard to help with solo cues. It can only help your show!
Maybe someday we'll be able to host a competition in an auditorium- you will warm up in our theater and see how painfully inadequate it is- it seats like 4 people. BUT we promise to do our best with what we do have- hopefully you will enjoy it!!

I think SW will surprise you guys, they were really beaten up about not making finals at Kennedy and I think they are going to be bringing their A game. Good luck to all, I hope you can see how much SW can represent Nebraska.
I am excited to see your show! It;s not often we get to see fellow april james groups at competitions, always fun! hopfully we both make her proud!
I've never been to this one before. How is it run? Is it all in the auditorium? Can prep break into finals? Who runs sound?
etc, etc
It's in a gymnatorium just like C.R. Kennedy, but you can be sure the sound will be better (although the lighting was a little dim last year).
It runs very smooth. They know what they're doing up nort'. Prep, or Class A groups as they're called up there, aren't eligible for the finals. I have no idea who runs the sound. Ana?

Cohagen, I didn't even know you were still on here.
Btw, when you say a surprise, is it something I haven't seen as well, meaning not at Gretna, Midwest, or Showdown? If it is, I'll be very mad because there is no way I could go to Minnesota to watch it.

We dont really know what happened at Kennedy(/we've been told not to talk about it specifically). Rest assured, we're very confident in how we'll be performing next weekend. For those of you who have seen our show before, we'll have a special suprise for ya. <:

Vitality isn't eligible to make finals at Totino. Last year they changed up the rules to make both A and AA groups eligible since the number of competing choirs was down due to the weather.
Many competitions now are having the top prep or class a group compete in a spot for finals. I kind of wish Totino would do this. I think prep/class a groups deserve that opportunity. I really like how Loagn, WI gives 6 final slots to the top 6 scoring groups of the whole day, and Waconia's Star Power gave the top prep group and top class a group a slot in finals (although one was just exhibition). They also have best band and best solo awards for that division. I just think its really great when we can get to a place where we have so many fantastic prep/class a groups and they get the recongition they deserve. I was on some threads on SCC and saw that one competition even gave best vocals and best choreography to the prep divisions. It's so exciting when a varisty group gets best choreography or vocals award, it would be nice to see many well deserved prep/class a groups to be reconginzed in their divisions for the work they do vocally and choreographically.
Anyways, thats just my little ol' thoughts on the matter, and i of course am not trying to say anything bad about the way this competition is ran, Bemidji has been to every single spectacular since the beginning, and love ending our competition season with Totino Grace! (although this year we are going to FAME ORLANDO!!!!! YAY! our first trip to a big time national competition)
Sorry, but I only got to glance at the scores. Mr. Woodin took Studio's packet and Mrs. Morris took Vitality's. I was as shocked as anybody when Vitality was announced in that sixth slot (although I was extremely proud). I was standing with Terry Voss and Ana Kraemer when daytime awards were announced. Since Kennedy allows groups to pick their finals performance slot based off daytime awards placements I turned to Ana and Terry and told them that I was pretty sure Mr. Woodin was planning to take the 4th performance time. I was about to walk away when they announced Vitality and I had to do an about face and say, "Well, that obviously changes things."
Lincoln SW went right before us, so they were warming up when we walked by to pick up our equipment for our warmup. They were in the midst of their Michael Buble song and I was very impressed by their band.
Ok thanks! We usually compete against them at least twice a year but our schedules have been very different this year, so I haven't gotten the chance to see them. Their band is usually pretty good so that doesn't really surprise me. I really hope they can do well at this competition and represent Nebraska.

That solves the debate, maybe Lincoln SW will make finals.
Mr. Temple--do you know/can you share how close Lincoln SW was from finals at Kennedy?
